Hello my amazing Flickr friends !
Today is a blue day at Color my World Daily but once again I’m skipping it this week since we have a very cool theme at Looking close on Friday: Flora on Black Background.
This one was rather difficult for me, for several reasons… As we all know by now, any theme involving « flora » is a challenge… A challenge to stay away from my neighbor’s plants (since they are truly so much better than mine !!) and to find a subject to photograph. Also, I have to adjust to my new schedule with kids at school… And the last reason (and the most time consuming one) for this « difficult » picture taking process: I have a new challenge on my Apple Watch…For September I have to burn a total of 45 400 calories … People, you have no idea how much cardio I have to do in one day just to achieve this challenge and get my September badge … but since I have a very addictive personality: I will get that badge even if I have to run during the night lol So with all that going on, I have less time for photography…
As you can see in my picture, I found the perfect plant: an egg grapevine !! FYI: the grapevine comes from my backyard and the egg from my fridge !! We can state with certainty that no egg or grapevine was stolen for this picture !!

Most of the year, the Dunlin looks like an unremarkable gray bird, subtle, soft, and barely noticeable. Think of him as the guy at the beach wearing khakis and blending into the sand. The only giveaway? That slightly droopy bill that says, “Yes, I am in fact a sandpiper, thanks for asking.”
But come breeding season, he goes full makeover. Out comes the rusty back, the bold black belly—suddenly he’s dressed like he’s ready for a sandbar fashion show.
This Dunlin is in transition. His belly patch says “not quite ready,” but his back is yelling, “Let’s start a family!” That bold patch is the classic look of a Dunlin ramping up for nesting season, and possibly rehearsing pickup lines.

Redux of the October 20, 2025, theme, "Sparkle." This whimsical Christmas tree ornament is just under 3" in width, including the space on the left side of the picture. I lit it with three TTArtisan Super Mini LED lights.

This s a fun way to keep fit with a full body workout. The drumsticks, exercise balls, and the tubs they rest in are all plastic, and these women are joyfully recapturing playfulness that they have inherited from their children! Happy Mother's Day

Okay so this is one of my favorite fall photos. A runner descends one hill and prepares to climb another. I love how the road pulled me through nature's beauty. I took another shot of this scene without the runner. I decided later that I liked this one better.
