Ihr zehn Meter hoher und siebenstöckiger Hti besteht aus Eisen und ist mit sieben vergoldeten Ringen verziert. Er wiegt über eine Tonne. Daran schließt sich eine Wetterfahne an, die sich im Wind bewegt und mit tausenden Diamanten, Rubinen und Saphiren verziert ist und (unter anderem mit 1100 Diamanten im Gewicht von 278 Karat). Am obersten Teil des Hti befinden sich 4351 Diamanten mit 1800 Karat Gewicht, an der obersten Spitze befindet sich ein 76-karätiger Diamant, der im Sonnenlicht glitzert.
The stupa's plinth is made of bricks covered with gold plates. Above the base are terraces that only monks and other males can access. Next is the bell-shaped part of the stupa. Above that is the turban, then the inverted almsbowl, inverted and upright lotus petals, the banana bud and then the umbrella crown. The crown is tipped with 5,448 diamonds and 2,317 rubies. Immediately before the diamond bud is a flag-shaped vane. The very top—the diamond bud—is tipped with a 76 carat (15 g) diamond.

The architectural design of the Capitol, rectangular in form, with great windows and high ceilings, follows the traditional pattern of 19th century planning for public buildings. A modified and refined Renaissance style gives the impression of strength and dignity combined with utility.
The commanding feature is the central towering dome constructed of iron and brick and covered with 23 carat gold. The gold leafing was replaced in 1964-1965 at a cost of $79,938. The dome is surmounted by a lookout lantern that may be reached by long and winding stairs, and it terminates in a finial that is 275 feet above the ground floor. The rotunda beneath the dome is 67 feet in diameter. Four smaller domes of simple design rise from the four corners of the Capitol

Yangon (formerly Rangoon) is the capital of the Yangon Region of Myanmar. Founded in the early 11th century by the Mon people, the city became the capital of the country under British rule following three Anglo-Burmese wars (1824-1826, 1852-1853, and 1885). It remained the capital after independence from the British was acheived in 1948. The capital was moved to Naypyidaw some 330 km (205 mi.) to the north in 2006.
The Shwedagon Pagoda is 112 m (367.5 ft.) tall and lies atop Singuttara Hill in Yangon. It is the most sacred Pagoda in Myanmar. In 2018, the pagoda was added to the UNESCO Tentative List of World Heritage Sites. The submission states: "According to legend, the Shwedagon Pagoda was constructed more than 2,600 years ago, which would make it the oldest Buddhist stupa in the world. Currently scholarly research by historians and archaeologists indicate that the pagoda was first built between the 6th and 10th centuries AD." and "According to local chronologies dating from the 14th century CE, the Shwedagon is believed to enshrine the bodily relics of the historical Buddha, Gautama, as well as artifactual relics purported by long tradition to be associated with the three other most recent previous Buddhas of our present era (kalpa). The enshrined relics include: eight strands of hair from the head of Gautama Buddha, as well as a piece of the robe believed to have belonged to Kassapa Buddha, a water filter attributed to Konagamana Buddha, and the staff of Kakusandha Buddha." The crown at the top of the stupa is decorated with 5,448 diamonds and 2,317 rubies. A 76-carat diamond is set at the highest point of the stupa.
