Das Cap Gris-Nez (gris-nez, niederl. Swartenesse, dt. „Graue Nase“) ist eine Landspitze an Frankreichs Kanalküste, der Côte d’Opale, in der Region Nord-Pas-de-Calais in Nordfrankreich. Es befindet sich zwischen Calais und Boulogne-sur-Mer. Die Bezeichnung „grau“ entstand, weil der offenliegende Fels grau ist, im Gegensatz zu dem in Sichtweite nördlich liegenden Cap Blanc-Nez, bei dem leuchtend weißes Kreide-Gestein zu Tage tritt.
Auf dem Gipfel des Cap Gris-Nez (50 m) steht ein Leuchtturm. Dieser ist Teil der französischen Kanalüberwachung. Von hier aus wird der gesamte Schiffsverkehr auf dem Ärmelkanal von der französischen Seite aus überwacht.
Die Sichtachse vom Cap Gris-Nez zum Shakespeare Cliff bei Dover bildet die Stelle, an der sich die Britischen Inseln (England) und Kontinentaleuropa (Frankreich) mit nur 33 km Entfernung am nächsten sind; dieser engste Abschnitt des Kanals hat eine eigene Bezeichnung, die Straße von Dover. Vom Cap Gris-Nez kann man bei klarem Wetter bis nach England sehen, schaut man nach Süden an der Küste entlang, erkennt man den Hafen von Boulogne-sur-Mer.
Dieser Küstenabschnitt wurde während des Zweiten Weltkrieges im weiteren Verlauf der Operation Overlord durch Kanadische Truppen befreit. Noch heute weist das Gebiet um das Cap Gris-Nez sichtbare Spuren der schweren Bombenangriffe gegen diesen Teil des „Atlantikwalls“ von 1944 auf. In den betreffenden Abschnitt befindet sich auch das ehemalige deutsche Fort und Geschützstellung, die Batterie Todt.
Der deutsche Schriftsteller und spätere Literaturnobelpreisträger Heinrich Böll war als Soldat im Zweiten Weltkrieg auch am Cap Gris-Nez stationiert.

Cap Gris Nez (literally grey nose cape in English, Swartenesse in Dutch, now obsolete; compare other headlands in -ness) is a cape on the Côte d'Opale in the Pas-de-Calais département in northern France.
It is between Wissant and Audresselles, in the commune of Audinghen.
The cliffs of the Cap are the closest point of France to England - 34 km (21 mi) from their English counterparts at Dover. Smothered in sea pinks and thrift, the cliffs are a perfect vantage point to see hundreds of ships from oil tankers to little fishing trawlers plying the waters below. On a clear day, the emblematic white cliffs of Dover on the English shore can be seen.
Sporting a coonskin cap, Indian inspired leather jacket, a Santa style beard and a curly old pipe, this man enjoys the fishing from the Ventura Pier in California. He was among friends who were obviously regulars at the pier.

The container ship Cap Capricorn passes a small fishing boat in the middle of the shipping channel. She is just cruising past the remains of Fort Nepean on the tip of Mornington Peninsula, on her way out through Port Phillip Heads, Taken from Queenscliff, Victoria, Australia.
