The manufacturer of the MG was originally a dealer of the Morris Motor Company, and this dealer began independently producing sports cars in 1924.

The basis of which was to lower the chassis of a Morris Cowly while adding a sporty body.

With this design named "MG", an abbreviation of "Morris Garage" the manufacturer became synonymous with the term "sports cars" and this brand name was promoted through many succesful racing events.

Due to the enormous succes with their sports cars, MG outgrew its home for three times, but in 1935 all of the MG's holdings were sold to the car manufacturer "Moris Motor Company".

MG would never be the same after that as fewer new models were made and participation in racing was discontinued.

The real death blow to MG was inflicted by British Leyland which squandered the illustrious name in the 1970s because it only produced characterless cars and stopped putting the famous MG- emblem on their cars.

Since 2011, Chinese carmaker "SAIC- Motors" became the owner of the MG brand name, and in 2011 the characterless MG-MG-6 reappeared in the United Kingdom.

This was followed in 2019 by the MG-ZS-EV SUV, but this model is also one of a dozen in a dozen........

It is beyond time to take action to:

1. Require universal background checks and waiting periods.

2. Ban assault weapons, high capacity magazines and bump stocks.

3. Authorize risk protection orders.

4. Repeal “Stand Your Ground” to discourage the unlawful and reckless use of firearms.

We were photographing the species that appeared when the guide excitedly told us that an owlet was vocalizing. Since we hadn't photographed an owlet before, we tried with renewed enthusiasm to identify the origin of the sound, but quickly became discouraged as it seemed beyond our capacity to identify a bird that we already knew to be very small, although we had never seen one before. We refocused on what was displayed before our eyes and didn't think about it anymore.

After about 15 minutes, the guide exclaimed excitedly, "it's over there". However, even with the explanation of where to look, it was not easy and some of us took a few minutes to follow the instructions of the trunks to find this small, but beautiful, ball of feathers!

We spent another 10 minutes photographing this beauty, searching for possible angles, backgrounds, and frames. I even managed to find a second bird by myself. The difficult part is finding the first one :)

The marbachsee was originally built between 1978 and 1982 by the Mümling Water Association, which operates the reservoir, for flood control purposes, but has officially also served as a recreational area since 1986.

The primary reason for building the Marbach Reservoir was flood protection for the towns and villages downstream. Because the Marbach stream has a relatively large catchment area, the Mümling's discharge capacity could easily be exceeded after periods of rain or snowmelt. Since the dam's completion, the Marbach's flow into the Mümling can be controlled.

A small hydroelectric power plant with a capacity of 80 kW was attached to the Marbach Reservoir. At full capacity, the Marbach Reservoir is the largest body of still water in the Odenwald region.

Another reason for constructing the Marbach Reservoir was its use for recreation and leisure. Activities possible there include swimming, boating, windsurfing, sailing, fishing, and hiking.

The Marbach Reservoir is divided into three sections from west to east:

"Bird sanctuary" with a nature reserve island; officially not a bird or nature reserve

Bathing area with a beach, sunbathing lawn, and bathing islands

Surfing and sailing area for boats with a sail area of up to 3.5 m².

Medicine Lake is located within Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada.

It is not actually a lake in fall and winter as the water disappears underground, becoming a mudflat with scattered pools of water. The underground system is extensive and during the 1970s researchers used a biodegradable dye to determine the underground river's extent. The dye showed up in many of the lakes and rivers in the area to the point where it became clear that the underground system was one of the most extensive in the world.

Summer melt water coming into the lake exceeds the capacity of the sinkholes to drain it. Decreased melt water in the late summer and fall means that the lake's sinkholes can drain the lake faster then the Maligne River can fill it. This creates the disappearing lake phenomena. Aboriginal peoples called the lake Medicine because of its seemingly magical powers, and the United Nations created the Rocky Mountain Parks World Heritage Site partly because of this unique drainage system.

The traces of the 2015 wildfire can also be seen in the photo.

He will communicate to them nothing but the contagion of his own obsessions, his aggressiveness, his ego-centeredness, his delusions about the ends and means, his doctrinaire prejudices and ideas.”

ITAIPU Power Station

The Itaipu Dam (Guarani: Presa Itaipu, Portuguese: Barragem de Itaipu, Spanish: Represa de Itaipú; Portuguese pronunciation: [itɐjˈpu], locally: [ita.iˈpu], Spanish pronunciation: [itaiˈpu]) is a hydroelectric dam on the Paraná River located on the border between Brazil and Paraguay. The name "Itaipu" was taken from an isle that existed near the construction site. In the Guarani language, Itaipu means "the sounding stone". It is a binational undertaking run by Brazil and Paraguay at the Paraná River on the border section between the two countries, 15 km (9.3 mi) north of the Friendship Bridge. The project ranges from Foz do Iguaçu, in Brazil, and Ciudad del Este in Paraguay, in the south to Guaíra and Salto del Guairá in the north. The installed generation capacity of the plant is 14 GW, with 20 generating units providing 700 MW each with a hydraulic design head of 118 metres (387 ft). In 2013 the plant generated a record 98.6 TWh, supplying approximately 75% of the electricity consumed by Paraguay and 17% of that consumed by Brazil.

Of the twenty generator units currently installed, ten generate at 50 Hz for Paraguay and ten generate at 60 Hz for Brazil. Since the output capacity of the Paraguayan generators far exceeds the load in Paraguay, most of their production is exported directly to the Brazilian side, from where two 600 kV HVDC lines, each approximately 800 kilometres (500 mi) long, carry the majority of the energy to the São Paulo/Rio de Janeiro region where the terminal equipment converts the power to 60 Hz.

galapagosconservation.org.uk/species/sally-lightfoot-crab/

“Sally Lightfoot crabs are brightly-coloured coastal scavengers, found in the Galapagos Islands and across the western coast of South and Central America. They have an extremely generalist diet, feeding on anything from sea lion placenta to other crabs. This makes them an important part of the ecosystem, as they provide services such as keeping the shore clean of any organic debris and eating ticks off marine iguanas. They are rumoured to have been named after a Caribbean dancer, due to their agility in jumping from rock to rock, their ability to run in four directions and their capacity to climb up vertical slopes. This extreme agility makes them very difficult to catch. Adult crabs show characteristic intense blue and red colouring on their shells, with a white or pale blue underbelly. Younger crabs have darker colouration with red spots, providing a higher degree of camouflage. Every time the crabs moult their shell, the spots become gradually larger, until they obtain the adult colouring.

Female Sally Lightfoot crabs carry their eggs around with them on their stomachs until they hatch into the water. The larvae then swim out to deeper waters, where they consume phytoplankton and undergo a rapid series of moults. Eventually they undergo metamorphosis to become juvenile crabs and swim to shore, where they start to scavenge, becoming bigger and more colourful with each moult. These juveniles tend to travel in large groups until they reach maturity, after which they become largely solitary when not mating. When they are not mating or feeding, the crabs spend their time hiding in cracks in rocks. If they are disturbed, they may spray water or shed one of their legs as a defence mechanism.”

I can no longer count the impacts. The shock I felt the first few times has given way to a slight tremor. And I'm not worth the energy you discharge on me. The source from which I draw my power exceeds your capacities, as if I only had a consciousness of mortality, in order to constantly revolt against it.

Day 18

____________________________

As a way to cope with circumstances beyond my control, survive and work to keep fighting for life I decided to try to take at least one photo (or more) each day. I call this “a photo (or more) a day.” Practicing this form of therapeutic photography helps me work to focus on the present moment, gives me something familiar and enjoyable to focus on as I use photography skills that have become like second-nature to me and being able to view the images I capture helps me recall what I was thinking, feeling and noticing at the moment when I created the photos. More of the photos from this series can be seen on my Instagram account

I may not always have the energy, time or capacity to share photos from this series—especially with the very challenging circumstances my family and I are experiencing—and will do my best to continue taking a photo (or more) a day even if I’m not able to share.

If you would like to support my work and my family, one way you can do so is by ordering my zines:

Moving Forward

Many thanks for your support.

Without delving deep into history and politics, let's just say I'm a firm believer in dreams and oppose myths, especially national myths. The latest invasion is clearly fueled by myths, as clearly as was the one that happened 30+ years ago.

Here, a heavy transport aircraft Antonov An‍-‍225 Mriya (Dream) during boarding (although probably not at that time) 140 tons heavy power transformer made by Končar Power Transformers for the Philippine San Lorenzo power plant. The flight shortened the delivery time from 40-45 days to just two.

Taken from the observation terrace of Zagreb's airport, while trying to get as clear view as possible, November 2013.

Let's hope a new dream will be flying again, let's hope this invasion will stop soon.

💙💛 Thank you all for pushing this photo into Explore at #438 at one point in time. Yay!

This one is not a crop, but if you look closely at the larger version you'll see just how much that ventral groove blubber attached to the lower jaw has been stretched! The pink stripes makes it easy to see how huge it is! Pretty amazing!

There are a number of humpbacks in this shot, but that is not a whale in the foreground, by the way. It's a wave breaking on the shore.

Anchorage

In nautical, the action of anchoring, is to tie the boat to the seabed, or lacustrine by a rope or chain, either using an anchor or a dead. A mooring with dead man and buoy is a permanent device that allows anchoring a boat safely.

They are usually located in a safe place to anchor, which is called anchorage. Its capacity of retention is proportional to the weight of the dead, independently of the type of bed, and depends on the friction produced with the bottom. When the dead is half-buried in the substrate, the suction effect increases its fixing force.

View from Greek Theater at Taormina, Sicily, Italy.

Perched on a hilltop in one of the most beautiful settings imaginable is the Ancient Teatro Greco of Taormina. Located on the eastern shores of Sicily, Taormina is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities in all of Italy. Sitting some 250 meters above the Ionian Sea, Taormina is a popular destination with tourists due to its trendy beaches and beautiful setting.

The Greek Theatre here is the second largest of its kind in all of Sicily behind only the Greek Theatre of Siracusa. Built in the third century BC, the theatre is remarkably well preserved and it still used today for opera and musical performances.

Constructed during the Greek Hellenistic period, the theatres design and horseshoe layout are typical of Greek construction. The theatre was literally carved out of the rock on Mount Tauro and had a capacity of 5,000 spectators. However, the extensive use of brick in the theatre suggests a Roman influence and researches feel that the Romans most likely rebuilt the theatre over the original Greek foundation. This transformation took place during the 2nd century AD and the Romans used the theater for gladiator contests as opposed to plays and gatherings during the Greek period. While the theatre is most often referred to as the Teatro Greco because of its Greek origins, it is also referred to as the Greco-Roman Theatre because of its Roman renovation.

Total capacity is 3,300 billion litres. The lake is currently just under 100% after many years of drought and has not been this full since October, 1996.

This photo was taken at approximately 95% capacity. Two years ago the lake was at 25% capacity and the lowest level ever was 5.3% in April, 2007 exposing many old homes, farms and bridges.

It is now once again a haven for boating enthusiasts who enjoy fishing and water skiing and has greatly revived the economies of the townships that surround the lake who rely on it for survival.

Our annual Harvest Fest for the backyard visitors was a huge success with all.

With four pumpkins, two of them carved, gourds, Indian corn, almonds, pecans, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, corn, brazil nuts, hazel nuts and sunflower seed setting the stage, everyone felt like a star whenever a treat or two was discovered.

In case of this chipmunk there's no telling how many treats are packed into those cheeks.

**For those of you who know me, if you saw the squirrel photos yesterday, then you probably guessed chippie shots were next!

We don't put out Goodie Bowls as often as we used to, but when we do, they get the attention of most of our backyard visitors!

One of our faves is this little Chipmunk who has taken up residence in our yard. He shows up most days, and when he spotted this Goodie Bowl loaded with all those peanuts and pecan halves he nutted up - both figuratively and literally!

He filled those cheeks to capacity multiple times, making countless trips back and forth.

Fair warning, there may be another shot or two posted of this epic day. LOL!
