The canyon is 20 miles long, depth 1000ft, width 1500-4000 ft.

Primary rock type is Rhyolite. And the lava flow is 484,000 yrs ago. And it is an AWESOME view!!!!

Located on the Kauai's west side, Waimea canyon is nicknamed "The Grand Canyon of the Pacific"

A view back into the sunrise light while hiking in Bryce Canyon National Park.

Although many people ask, there really isn't a single best Grand Canyon view. Each location is unique and offers a new insight. The Grand Canyon is about seeing the beautifully exposed pile of rock that makes up the Canyon and this changes from every view point you visit. It is interesting to observe how monuments and temples make entrances and exits and change shape as your angle of view varies.

The best places to watch the Grand Canyon sunset and Grand Canyon sunrise are where there are few obstructions to your view. Most of the Grand Canyon view points are located on promontories that stick out from the rim. The perfect spot would be a point that extends out into the canyon far enough that you have a clear view of both east and west.

"The canyon of the Colorado River has become for me a haunting memory, dwarfing all things that I have seen, belittling all the gorges, all the mountains that in the past impressed me."

The most photographed canyon on Iceland, west of Kirkjubæjarklaustur.

Pese a su nombre, Bryce Canyon (Utah) no es un cañón propiamente dicho porque la causante de la erosión es la lluvia, que produce estas formaciones llamadas "hoodoos" o chimeneas de hadas.

I did not book a photo tour ahead of time so unfortunately this was shot hand held with hoards of people. I plan on going back with a scheduled tour.

A view of this pretty section of Canyon de Chelly there in Arizona.

Reaching back in the archives here to our last trip to Bryce Canyon. Here I had the Canon T1i in hand and was really learning what the DSLR can do. For this capture I zoomed in some and then opened the aperture up to enhance the DOF isolation between these close in rock formations and the scenery beyond. This was near sunset, and the last rays of light on this close in rock formation (hoodoo) was very pretty.

Have been to Bryce twice now ... but hope some day to return again and play around more. So much to see there and nice hiking too!!!
