My oldest possession, not sure of exact age although there is a printed date of 1798. A gift to my great, great grandfather in 1846, sadly both covers have become detached. See my first comment below for the records written inside.
During a recent visit to the San Diego Zoo, I found this colorful fellow vocalizing complaints about another of his clan snatching away a bit of food. Brought a smile as I reminisced about similar mealtime altercations that occurred during my days at the Fire Station.

The Red-tailed Monkey:
Red-tailed monkeys are found in East and Central Africa. These monkeys live in tropical moist forests, swamp forest, riverine and gallery forest.
Red-tailed monkeys eat leaves, flowers, or insects in times where fruit is scarce. As they forage, these monkeys gather their findings in the expandable cheeks of their mouths. The pouches will hold a large amount of food where they can forage in one area and then carry their food away to another location where it is safe to consume without the threat of another stealing from them.
Red-tailed monkeys are social primates that form groups that can range in size from 7 to 30 individuals. The groups consist of one dominant male and females and their offspring. Groups generally stay together through all periods of the day and through life, except for males who reach maturity. These males will leave the group they were born into and go on to form all male groups with other red-tailed monkey males or survive alone until they can replace the dominant male of a different social group. Females in a group will help take care of their own young as well as the young of other females in the group.

This little Grasshopper is very well camouflaged the red in it looks like plant stems and the green blends in with the leaves.

We'll make it alright to come undone
Now we'll try to stay blind to the hope and fear outside

If you decide to travel along this highway into the bowels of the Universe, carry enough fuel to cover the billions of light years ahead of you. You won't find a place to refuel. When you have travelled this distance without finding anything, not even a little bit of intelligent life and you reach the far reaches of the Universe... don't be scared... there's nothing there, either. Only the "nothing". Or since everything is cyclical, perhaps you have returned to the place where you started, full of wisdom from your long trip. It's probably better to look for intelligent life on Earth, but it's also very likely that you'll have a hard time finding it. Don't worry about not understanding the Universe or the reason for its existence... you're not Einstein, but one day you'll understand that... The Universe is wounded, but it still has infinity ahead of it. It still has you and me. Merry Christmas to all and to the infinite Universe that is within you.
Gregory Alan Isakov - The Universe

Pink Floyd - Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Parts VI–IX
"Shine On You Crazy Diamond", was written as a tribute to Syd Barrett, one of the founders of Pink Floyd. He was also known as "The Crazy Diamond Syd". Barrett was a very creative musician and is considered one of the rock icons, with a strong influence on many artists, very especially to David Bowie. Syd Barrett is a key piece to understand the evolution of rock in the 70s.. Excessive drug use, especially LSD, caused him serious mental health problems. Syd Barrett died in 2006 at the age of 60. Always shine diamond.
The Universal is a science fiction song written as a tribute to two films by film director Stanley Kubrick. In the video, the Blur members wear outfits similar to Alex and his gang of thugs, the protagonists of the movie "A Clockwork Orange." The image used for the cover of the single alluded to what is possibly Kubrick's best film: "2001: To Space Odyssey."
We haven't changed that much in 300,000 years of evolution.

Small tern with an entirely black body in breeding plumage with silvery wings. In the winter, their body is whitish-gray and they are not as conspicuous, but note small size, rather dark gray wings and rump, and black "helmet." Breeds in colonies in freshwater marshes and ponds. Builds a floating nest of plant matter. In migration and winter, often found in flocks. Feeds on insects and small fish. (eBird)
-------------
Despite being much larger than swallows and mosquitoes, these beautiful terns are also incredibly hard to photograph as they twist and turn in search of food on the wing.

Beethoven is waiting for me to come home!
He loves to play in the basket! When he is in it he calls me to come and see him and then he wants to be cuddled.
I am off for 2end surgery my dear friends.
Wait for me, I will be back!
Hugs to you all. Be well my friends.❤

That grass ain't gonna cut itself
And you can't get your tan on
Underneath these covers and that four blade ceiling fan
You know I love to see you
With that two piece top untied
But I can think of something better
I ain't going to lie
[Chorus]
Yeah, I could use a little rain
Beating on the window pane
While we listen to the tin roof sing a love song all day long
Yeah I hope it pours
And our clothes stay on the floor
Yeah, that's the kind of storm that's been calling my name
Yeah, I could use a little rain
Yeah, I could use a little rain
[Verse 2]
Blame it on the fast lane
Trying to make that dollar bill
How everything we gotta do
We can't just sit and still
I know that it ain't your fault
And I hope that it ain't mine
But we been in a drought for a little too long of time
[Chorus]
I could use a little rain
Beating on the window pane
While we listen to the tin roof sing a love song all day long
Yeah I hope it pours
And our clothes stay on the floor
Yeah, that's the kind of storm that's been calling my name
Yeah, I could use a little rain
Yeah, I could use a little rain
[Bridge]
Sun sun go away
Come again some other day
Me and this girl got love to make
Yeah we got love to make
Sun sun go away
Won't you come again some other day
Me and this girl got love to make
Baby
[Chorus]
I could use a little rain
Beating on the window pane
While we listen to the tin roof sing a love song all day long
Yeah I hope it pours
And our clothes stay on the floor
Yeah, that's the kind of storm that's been calling my name
Yeah, I could use a little rain
Yeah, I could use a little rain
[Outro]
Yeah, I could use a little rain
Yeah, I could use a little rain

Happy Sunday my friends!
EXTREMELY VOCAL, and can be a proficient mimic of both animate and inanimate sounds. Love the way a starling walks with characteristic swagger, and the flight is rather undulating and the wings look pointed and triangular in outline. /// SOMETHING out of the norm. for me, but felt it had something of appeal going for it, so have risked posting it, hope you enjoy it.

"OUR EARS ARE CLOSED"
Sea and mountains, valleys and streams
Night and day were all in Gods dreams,
The Garden of Eden with its precious tree
The Son He gave to set us free.
The seed He placed in the heart He made
Don't let its flowers wither and fade,
Is the ear closed to His constant plea
For in truth we live to disagree.
Have we not learned a thing from the past?
Why is the blindness we have so vast ?
We've ignored His word since time began
To do as we will has been our plan.
Has the Saviour's death not opened our eyes
When His blood was shed for our demise,
Mocked and beaten, betrayed from within
God's Holy Lamb pierced for our sin.
When the reaper comes and we walk to the gate
Do we all stand in line, to wait and wait,
Or will the one who gives life lead you through
And walk with you to paradise and life anew ?

"Can words describe the fragrance of the very breath of spring?"
~ Neltje Blanchan
It is raining now, but I took this crocus shot and other photos this morning. Then turned the wee blossom black and white and inverted the photo.
Spring might arrive despite my doubts.
Just so enjoy tulips at this stage. Flowers Shannon got when Noah was born. I begged her not tho throq out til I got there.
Cell phone shot. Shot on vivid but no editing.
I can still find Wiley's house
Riding on my bike with eyes closed
I could name every girl that he took out
And from my memory, dial his house phone
Can you take me back when we were just kids
Who weren't scared of getting older? (yeah, yeah)
'Cause no one knows you like they know you
And no one probably ever will
You can grow up, make new ones
But truth is there's nothing like old friends
'Cause you can't make old friends (mm, yeah)
I can still feel the windows down
Listening to Jimmy Eat World
Riding 3-wide on Blake's bench seat (yeah)
My God, it's been ten years now
I would have his back tomorrow
And he'd still fight anyone who tried to touch me
Can you take me back when we were just kids
Who weren't scared of getting older? (yeah, yeah)
'Cause no one knows you like they know you
And no one probably ever will
You can grow up, make new ones
But truth is there's nothing like old friends
'Cause you can't make old friends
And I've got some good friends now
But I've never seen their parents' back porch
I wouldn't change how things turned out
But there's no one in this time zone
Who knows what inline skates that I wore
Can you take me back when we were just kids
Who weren't scared of getting older?
'Cause no one knows you like they know you
And no one probably ever will
You can grow up, make new ones
But the truth is
That we grow up, then wish we could go back then
There's nothing like old friends
'Cause you can't make old friends

This is a very old glazed terracotta piece from China, likely to have been buried for some time in its past. I'm very fond of him.
I can't stop allowing myself to go back to Smithville to capture this tree. I love to photograph it in all the seasons and one important thing I have learned is to never take it for granted. I had a very special tree in the Smithville Lake area that was taken down without notice and I regret not photographing it more. I guess this can apply to many things in life (family, friends, etc). So here I am, early in the morning mesmerized by the shape of the extended branches along the country fence line and the glow of the sky. I ended up blurring out the grass to give the sole focus on the this magnificent living specimen. I am just awed by the shapes here as if it were drawn on the page.
