Many times in life, we encounter indecisive moments; Occasions that call for a difficult decision to be made, no matter how much we are reluctant to do so.

Yet, we just have to do so and adpot a Can-Do attitude. That's what I choose.

Which Color do you choose??

Leanne's folks recently moved to the area, with the help of the two young gents on the right. The truck broke down en route so it was quite the adventure.

I'm so proud of my little Kaitlyn!!! :o)

My daughters school was selected to have a very special McDonalds "Go Active" performance. It was awesome!!!

The show was about having a "Can Do Attitude"( I can do anything). The teachers were all asked to nominate a student from each class, who displays a "can do" attitude, shows positive life skills and is a role model for other students. They picked only 2 students from the list of nominated children to receive recognition from Ronald McDonald. Kaitlyn was one of two students picked :o)

Ronald McDonald also spoke to Canadian Gold medal athletes via satelite, about working hard and achieving dreams.

In the photo above, Kaitlyn is being interviewed by Ronald. When he asked her "What do you do to have a "Can Do Attitude?" She replied..."I always try my best and try to have fun"

Way to go Kaitlyn!!! :o)

Exiled to Burundi in 1958, Alphonsia's family was nomadic for years.

From Burundi, her family went to Uganda then Kenya then back to Uganda

until they finally returned home to Rwanda in 1995, less than a year after

the genocide.

Like thousands of people in Rwanda, Alphonsia's parents are too

poor to provide an education for their family. Luckily, Alphonsia's participation

in The African Children's Choir provided her the opportunity to learn English, travel,

and get a better education than the rest of her 7 siblings. Living near Gisimba Memorial Center on the outskirts of Kigali meant Alphonsia was able to connect with Damas Gisimba--a hero from the genocide-- whose orphanage is sponsored by the America based NGO Orphans of Rwanda.

Currently, Alphonsia's university tuition is sponsored by Orphans of Rwanda. Co-directed by Oliver Rothschild and dai Ellis, Orphans of Rwanda is working hard to

help 30+ students like Alphonsia, though most in the program are orphans who have

lived at Gisimba Memorial Center for years.

Making the Robocop image reminded me of maybe the punkest thing I've ever seen... Male Pattern Punkess. A few years ago at a show there was an older punk guy who had the "bi-hawk" or "fins" variation on the mohawk... but then I noticed he hadn't shaved his head in a while, and the two-up was due to the fact he was balding, and the fins basically marked the perimeter of his bald area. Intense.

Kiwi Slang - Number 8 Wire

Latest post by Helen Oakes

Number 8 wire is New Zealand's can-do attitude, ingenuity & resourcefulness to solve problems. A unique mindset of kiwis to repair anything.

As tradition goes, the phrase 'number 8 wire' came to fruition in New Zealand to represent the can-do attitude, ingenuity and resourcefulness of kiwis. We have a number 8 wire mentality that we can repair or create something out of scrap or whatever is avaiable at the time. This mentality is rooted deep in the kiwi psyche. It is our 'we can do it, no matter what we are given' mentality.

The number 8 wire originated from the 1860's wire that was used for farm fences. It was used in lost-cost fencing and it was adopted on New Zealand sheep farms for its versatility and ease of construction. Galvanised number 8 steel wire became the wire of choice for farmers.

Barbed wire became available in 1879 and this was used as a top wire for fences as it was a better solution to hold larger cattle. Cattle tended to bend the number 8 wire so a top barbed wire enabled farmers to keep their fences in tact and hold stronger farm animals. Number 8 wire was used lower down the fence and barbed wire was used on top.

Many farms had rolls of number 8 wire lying around.

With the right motivation and work ethic, you can accomplish whatever you put your mind to. Rather than fear what can go wrong, get excited about everything that can go right!

Undoubtedly, our past experiences may have shaped us in a way that we’re not always proud of, but that’s what makes us all unique. It’s okay to reflect on the past, but we can’t get stuck there.

Remember that progress comes in many different forms and it’s important to always take pride in the small victories of life.

Learn from your mistakes and accomplish great things!
