I was going to volunteer again this year, but I decided not to. It was moved to October but I don't feed that it would be real smart to be in a place with a bunch of people. I'm still going to go on a vacation this year but it'll be to somewhere that doesn't have thousands of people..:) I just need to remember to cancel my hotel reservation..;)
What caught my eye on this abandoned grange hall was the color and the venting on the sides, the town is gone and I was told this was built in 1908 and held town meetings and had dances back in its heyday. Would love too see what it looks like inside.
I canceled my coastal vacation this year because I wasn't sure how I would feel in November. If I have my strength back I'll still try to go. They haven't started the treatment yet. So much to do before hand and the wheels move slow.

Built in 1906 the Fern school closed its doors in 1959, the area once was a milling town, had a post office and general store, there was even a train depot, sadly all is gone and the school is all that stands, even the train tracks are gone, I looked inside the school the second floor was used for storage, the first floor had a stage at one time, the chalk boards where still there, another piece of history slowly decaying.

I was due to go so Skomer Island last Friday to see the puffins but sadly the trip was cancelled as the sea was way too rough to land safely. To say I was disappointed is an understatement but have re-booked for early July so am really hoping for better conditions - otherwise will have to wait till next year! This shot was taken on my last visit 5 years ago
April is National Poetry Month, a celebration of poets and poetry that's been in place for 25 years.
Last month, as the U.S. grieved over attacks against Asian Americans, NPR's Morning Edition collected poems on how people grapple with the increased violence and discrimination.
Over 500 listeners shared powerful, poignant poems — in the form of a list beginning with the word "today." They showcased fear, anger, empathy and motivation to make the world a better place.
NPR's resident poet Kwame Alexander took lines from the submissions to create a community poem, "Today, I Am A Witness To Change."

That's a scary thought to commute to NYC nowadays for me, even I'm FULLY inoculated. :-(((
I popped down to the local Uni grounds today for my annual ritual of photographing the lilies that loiter around their ponds. Determined to follow my own advice for once, I slowed things right down. No frantic dashes between all three ponds. No attempt to photograph every lily within a five-kilometre radius. I simply sat and watched.
Bees arrived, departed, and held what appeared to be very important meetings. Flies wandered in uninvited. A few unidentified aquatic beings contributed bubbles and ripples from below. It was calm, peaceful… very zen.
Then Jazzy arrived.
She briefly reverted to puppy mode, launched herself into the mud, splashed enthusiastically, and successfully evicted every single one of my nature companions. Zen was cancelled.
Still, a fun shoot overall.
PS - I did get a shot of this one landing, but unfortunately with his back to us — that image felt a little bee-hind the moment.

Rototom Sunsplash cancels its 2021 edition and invites its public to an “unforgettable and massive” festival next summer.
The current sanitary measures would limit the festival’s program to holding concerts with social distancing “and although we understand that they are necessary, they are incompatible with the essence and atmosphere of Rototom Sunsplash”.

A 3 bracketed shot on my early visit this day.
Going through my files for something to upload after having to cancel our 2 week visit to Scotland for some new material.
24th October 2008 - BAE Systems Nimrod MRA4 'ZJ518' comes in on final approach to the Bae facility at Warton.
he BAE Systems Nimrod MRA4 was a planned maritime patrol and attack aircraft intended to replace the Hawker Siddeley Nimrod MR2. The rebuilt aircraft would have extended the operating life of the Nimrod fleet by several decades and significantly improved the aircraft by installing more efficient Rolls-Royce BR700 turbofan jet engines to almost double the flight range. The conversion of the flight deck to a digital glass cockpit would have simplified control operations and reduced crew requirements. New detection systems were to be installed, as well as additional weapons for anti-submarine warfare.
However, the project was subject to significant delays due to cost overruns and contract re-negotiations. This was partly due to difficulties combining refurbished Nimrod MR2 fuselages, which had not been built to a common standard, with newly built wings. The numbers of aircraft to be procured fell from 21 to nine over a course of years, while costs continued to climb and was eventually cancelled in 2010
Race cancelled, they started playing... it was fun watching them.

Full disclosure, since I finally got my new PC up and running and started editing the backlog of photos, the use of AI noise reduction entered into my workflow. It used to produce a fake-looking result but now it is generally much better than I can achieve with manual noise reduction. Together with the AI mask selection in Adobe Lightroom, these very specific tools do save a great deal of time and effort.
My negataive stance on AI generated content remains intact, have no fear. An AI algorithm designed to recognise noise in an image is a different beast altogether.
