An corrugated iron fence that angles down at the street end, meeting up with the panel added to cancel the lowered height.
What caught my eye on this abandoned grange hall was the color and the venting on the sides, the town is gone and I was told this was built in 1908 and held town meetings and had dances back in its heyday. Would love too see what it looks like inside.
Built in 1906 the Fern school closed its doors in 1959, the area once was a milling town, had a post office and general store, there was even a train depot, sadly all is gone and the school is all that stands, even the train tracks are gone, I looked inside the school the second floor was used for storage, the first floor had a stage at one time, the chalk boards where still there, another piece of history slowly decaying.
I was due to go so Skomer Island last Friday to see the puffins but sadly the trip was cancelled as the sea was way too rough to land safely. To say I was disappointed is an understatement but have re-booked for early July so am really hoping for better conditions - otherwise will have to wait till next year! This shot was taken on my last visit 5 years ago

My agenda saw me starting my Ester holidays at the Danish West Coast today. Unfortunately circumstances were against our plans, so no Easter Eggs on the beach, looks more like playing hide and seek with myself in my garden („got you punk, you desperately need a hairdresser“). Anyway, as soon as martial law is over in Europe I will turn North to get my annual wellness time in Denmark. Instead of my first coastal shot of the year please enjoy a picture taken last weekend of river Werre near Löhne, Ostwestfalen, Germany
After being cancelled for three straight years due to Covid-19 restrictions, Songkran the traditional Thai New Year has returned. The happy lady pictured above is covered in 'din sor pong' a white powder derived from limestone or many times just talcum powder mixed with water. Originally powder was mixed with scented water and applied to Buddha statues as a sign of respect and making merit. When applied to people it is meant to ward off evil spirits and give protection to the wearer and is just plain fun!

A great afternoon today on the S&C, despite the Arcows and Dalesman being cancelled. Managed this, the logs and the Mountsorrel all in full sun thankfully!!
Running about 20 late here and with no worries about the sun, 37425 & 37402 pass Great Dudland near Rimington with the usual 6K05 engineers.
