It's a portrait taken at a World War II reenactment last summer in Chesterfield, Michigan. He is portraying a U.S. infantryman, I believe.

Found this guy hiding in the pond at the Pinelands Preservation Alliance Headquarters in Vincentown, New Jersey. I suppose he thought he was well hidden by the duckweed all around him.

These frogs have the most beautiful jewel-like eyes.

I think this guy wanted his picture taken. He sat calmly while I was shooting and never moved at all.

The rusty shapes remind me of camouflage patterns on the hood of this old Studebaker truck.

I don't think I'd noticed that the white dots and streaks on Little owls might be partly a match to lichen on tree trunks; I'd always assumed it was just about light/shade and breaking up their outline. Nature never fails to surprise, educate and delight, for me at least!

I could hear him, but had a hard time finding him! I got a quick shot after finding him before he flew off.
