Space Needle through a sculpture at Volunteer Park, Seattle, WA. I came across this shot from 2016. Some time ago my friend Derek asked me for more Seattle pictures. Here you go D.

This worm gear came from my 2012 Fiat 500 Abarth window control mechanism that I had to replace. If you know me, you know I like little motors so I dissected out the motor and found this interesting worm gear. I've posted the complete armature part of the motor before and I even shot this gear once but never posted it. So, with "Screw" for the Macro Mondays theme this week I decided to shoot it again and see what I could come up with after a bit of cleaning. So much for the rusty lag bolt...

The worm screw gear is relatively small and measures 0.35 in. x 1.0 in. I used the Nikon 55mm f/2.8 NIKKOR Micro lens w/PK-12&13 Extension Tubes, 41.5mm total extension and a 30 image focus stack at f/5.6 to keep everything sharp. The first time I shot this I found the orange and blue clamps that I used to "suspend" the gear had snuck back into the reflection so I wrapped the clamps with my gold ribbon and taped some to a piece of cardboard that I placed below the gear. I used blue tape to hold the ribbon to the cardboard and it got picked up but I liked the look by the gold. You can also probable guess the color shirt I'm wearing.

We had been away for a while, and when we came back to our old country house, I saw this “spot” of about 1 cm² outside on the kitchen window. I thought a young bird had crashed and made this, but later noticed that the spot had changed shape. Taking a better look revealed that the spot was actually many small spider babies. Sometimes close in a bunch, later more spread, then close again. I let them live there until one day the spot was gone, and now I have hundreds of small spiders around my house, I guess :-)

Came across this cool looking barn on a dirt road, no traffic and a no trespassing sign was posted.

I came across this abandoned schoolhouse near the town of Girard, I asked the property owner what year it was built and when did it close, 1893-1938, he didn’t say as to why, he let me go inside so I could grab a few photos.

We came upon a large Lion pride with many young cubs early in the morning. As their parents lay asleep these youngsters were playing around just like any kittens would. It was one of the best sightings we had on our Masai Mara trip.

Many thanks for your visit, comments, invites and faves...it is always appreciated...

I must look clueless when I am out shooting and have sad puppy dog eyes were friendly people want to help correct my ways.

On this sunset, I was at Panorama Point in Capitol Reef National Park. The "view" is the opposite direction, and I was set up with my tripod looking in the opposite direction from everyone else.

Three separate people came up to me, letting me know where I was supposed to be shooting. I thanked them for their kindness and stood my ground :-)

Oh, what a night

Almost had me down, came back to life

Who's gonna stop me now?

Oh, what a night

I can't even lie, what a time to be alive

Drinks in the sky, that's the vibe

Oh, what a night!!

♫ When you came in the air went out

And all those shadows there filled up with doubt

I don't know who you think you are

But before the night is through

I wanna do bad things with you

I wanna do real bad things with you ♫

I came across this old barn sitting out in the middle of a field, loved the way the sun was beating on it, the clouds and frosty ground give it a special setting.

Beautiful Cat That Came To Say Hello While Out Walking A Couple Of Weeks Ago 🐱

came a bit as a shock to me...

I find it the hardest time of the year

it 's just so dark, cold and bare outside

makes me really long for the new year

when the days are getting longer again

Once upon a time, the pine tree, that spring is already approaching.

The mole croaked grimly: - He will surely come by car.

The hedgehog turned stern: - Rather on a scooter.

The snake hissed: - I don't believe it, he'll come on a bicycle.

The blackbird whistled: - I know something about it, he will come by plane.

- From where again," said the magpie, "I do not take my eyes off her

and last year in May I saw her on the streetcar.

- Not true spring usually arrives by motorcycle!

- And I will prove to you here that it is by car.

- Not true, because in a carriage!

- In a carriage? - What are you saying?

I can briefly declare that he goes by his own boat!

And spring has come on foot.

Already the flowers are enjoying her , already the grasses are growing before her

And they are humming - welcome spring!

Came here at much the same time last year and there must have been at least ten photographers battling for a composition, this year just me!

Knowing a bit more about photography makes it easier to understand how and why some oil paintings, say the impressionist, abstract or even watercolour paintings, came into being.

An ice storm came through on the night of January 31st into February 1st allowing us to wake up to a crystal world of blue and white.

Niagara Fog...

Digging through the archives I came across this shot from August 2016 when we had visited Niagara Falls, A sudden dense fog rolled in over the whole area socking us in with a thick white haze everywhere and the mist was so heavy you needed an umbrella to stay dry. this shot was going along Niagara Parkway east of the falls. The building in the background is the Sheraton on the falls Hotel mostly hidden from view bythe mist.

So now we finally get to the picture why I came to San Quirico D'orcia in Tuscany and why I'm standing here in the field in a pretty icy wind for more than an hour. With what feels like a 10 cm thick layer of loamy earth on and under my boots, which luckily I brought with me.

By the way, the name of this picture is the name of this old typical Tuscan stone house in the foreground. I think this is the most photographed building in this part of Italy. But be careful if you only feed the navigation system with this name. There are other places with the same name. I got to know one of them the day before, 130 km away from here.

For the picture I waited until the sun was a little bit higher and had gained a bit of power, because I wanted to see the fields glowing. To my great joy, this was then made possible for me.

This cute little rabbit would come out of the brush into the grass and graze until a pedestrian came by, then dart back into the brush. I settled down to wait it out, and was rewarded with a few shots.

He came up with a feather in his hat lol!! Too cute,,,,, who knew fox kits wore Fascinators

Completely oblivious to me and came down feet away collecting nesting material. Magical or what. Another seventh heaven moment for me.

Came upon this view while hiking up to Lake Agnes there in Banff National Park. Just had to stop and take a shot ... hard to do this view justice but liked the interplay of tall pines and the peaks and the patch of blue sky through the clouds.

I came across an older photo of mine and I thought I would try to recreate it.

This sharp-shinned hawk is eyeing a highbush cranberry thicket located about 20 meters away. About 5 seconds later it rocketed into the thicket and came out the other side with a house sparrow in its talons.

Came across this male cardinal sitting in a bush on a snowy day, if you look close enough you can see snow flake shapes on his feathers.

As the sun came over the mountains, one of the tallest dunes received the first of the early morning rays. It was really nice to watch the light creep across the dunes as the sun gradually cleared the mountain ridge.

When I came upon this Cormorant gazing out over the water at a local lake, I wondered if it was lonely or just liked hanging-out alone. I’ve found there is a difference.

On a clear and sunny morning the fog was there in 4 minutes. This is the look when it came ,the sun still shining on me.

I came to the grove across from the beach. The green portion in the previous image is it. The sun was still above the horizon. When you are on a beach that faces east, this is how you appreciate sunset.

Which Came First, the Chicken or the Egg?

Hannah Gale

There was a little dinosaur,

who made a rock his friend.

He took the rock everywhere,

and said he'd keep it till the end.

One day it was a wee bit cold,

so he held it very close.

But when he felt it start to move,

he thought that it was gross.

First popped out the little head,

then some arms and legs.

So which one really did come first?

The chicken? No. The egg.

Decided to venture out to Colonel Sam Smith on the hunt for Snow Buntings that were reported and came across a fairly patient Female Red Breasted Merganser hunting near the beach.

Came back to see if the goslings had hatched. Still waiting.

an idea Ephran came up with ages back and we only managed to get photos just the other night.

its out of my norm of pretty faces ....but Ephran has a great eye for detail and a wonderful imagination, so i don't hesitate when he wants to dress me up !

He mostly played with the photography, but i did one shot of my own.

Thank you for a wonderful night of your company Eph.

Came across this cute pair yesterday while strolling on Los Angeles Street in the Fashion District of L.A. A surprisingly busy afternoon! :-))

After a fair bit of sliding, this came out a little dystopian!

Working in Cornwall yesterday so took the camera. Only really came back with this one. More of a recce than anything

Just came inside after taking about 20 shots of the dragonfly on different Waterlilies.

My Granddaughter always asks me how does it feel having dragonfly land on your fingers? my answer is, it tickles:-)

Yesterday she was almost held the toad but at the end she said no,
