These gorgeous hairstreaks are just starting to show up in the Davis Mountains. (Callophrys gryneus, the juniper hairstreak or olive hairstreak, is a butterfly native to North America. It belongs in the family Lycaenidae.) This one was feeding on the flowers of our Agarita.

This little one suddenly came from nowhere and landed on a little tree next to me, whilist I was photographing Heath fritillaries. It was pretending to be a leaf for a few seconds and then flew off.

I saw many pretty tanagers in Ecuador but one of my favourites was this one. I took this from atop the canopy up a 40 m tower at Yasuni National Park.

Perfectly cupped in a Hawthorn leaf with black oval eye toward me I had a wonderful opportunity to examine in detail this exquisite tiny butterfly with hairy fringes and mouth parts. The Green Hairstreak is the only British butterfly to have wings that are truly green, and wonderfully iridescent they are too!
Thank you all for your kind responses.
