La Hiruela es un enclave privilegiado de la Sierra del Rincón, en el límite noreste de la Comunidad de Madrid. Auténtica reserva de la naturaleza, posee un entorno natural envidiable. Gracias a su secular aislamiento ha logrado conservar un ecosistema con valores paisajísticos inalterados a lo largo de los siglos.
Desde el magnífico mirador del Puerto se contempla un paisaje quebrado de lomas y montes, bosques y dehesas, valles y arroyos, que harán las delicias de los buenos amantes del senderismo. El curso alto del río Jarama, de aguas limpias y cristalinas, y los numerosos arroyos que recorren su término, marcan la frontera natural con Guadalajara.
La Dehesa de La Hiruela, prodigioso roble melojo y albar, es su espacio natural más interesante con una variada vegetación. Avellanos, abedules, enebros…y toda una concentración de verdor de sus alrededores parecen propios del norte de España.
En el año 2005, la Sierra del Rincón entró a formar parte de la red mundial de Reservas de la Biosfera, al ser catalogada como tal y reconocida internacionalmente en el Programa sobre el Hombre y la Biosfera de la Unesco.
Sus casas de piedra, adobe y madera apenas han sufrido modificaciones en su estructura desde su construcción, manteniendo una identidad arquitectónica propia que lo sitúa como uno de los pueblos mejor conservados de la Comunidad de Madrid.
La Hiruela es un importante enclave turístico de la Comunidad de Madrid. Un municipio que cuida al turista, con enormes posibilidades de crecimiento dada su cercanía a Madrid, y que invita a recorrer, sin prisas y sin tráfico, su cuidado casco urbano y sus increíbles sendas.
La entrada al núcleo urbano está prohibida para los vehículos, por lo que tiene habilitado los suficientes aparcamientos para facilitar una visita lo más placentera posible.

In between the comings and goings of ducks on the pond, if I can hear gobbling in the area, I will use my hen call to see if I can entice a tom to come to the pond. This from the confines of my floating blind on the pond. I managed to call this guy in twice. The first time (this photo) when he came into view and did not see a hen where there was supposed to be one, he turned and walked off. After a bit, I used a gobble call along with the hen call and that brought him back the second time. He was not going to let another tom in on any possible hen action.

Young males calling partners. They inflate the belly and make a very loud whistle.
The Red-bellied Grackle is a distinctive rare blackbird of cloud forest in the Colombian Andes. It is large, long-tailed, and heavy-billed with a bright red belly and otherwise glossy black plumage. Red-bellied Grackles moves through the forest in groups, giving a variety of calls. While it has been recorded from all three ranges of the Andes in Colombia, contemporary localities are few.

We call this glitter. It's a nice way of saying freezing rain. A pretty name to soften the blow maybe? Who needs spring anyways!?
This is day two of glitter and I'm patiently waiting for the sun. Nothing is quite as wonderful as sun-shiny, sparkly ice. The wait continues....the sun has to come out eventually, right?

Abritée sous ses toiles pare-soleil, la Calle Marqués de Larios, Malaga, Andalousie, Espagne. Une vue à partir de l’intersection avec la Calle Salinas et la Calle Strachan.
Cette rue également connue simplement sous le nom de Calle Larios, est une rue piétonne et commerçante de Málaga. Son pavage est magnifique. La rue a été initialement conçue par l'architecte José María Sancha. D'autres modifications de la conception ont ensuite été apportées par Manuel Rivera. En 1887, la responsabilité du projet est assumée par la famille Larios. La rue porte le nom de Manuel Domingo Larios y Larios, le deuxième marquis de Larios. Plus de 1200 ouvriers ont travaillé sur le projet. La rue a été inaugurée le 27 août 1891. C'est aujourd’hui la rue la plus chère de Malaga et la onzième de toute l'Espagne.
Malaga, capitale de la province de Malaga est située au centre d'une baie entourée de chaînes de montagnes, à l'extrémité ouest de la mer Méditerranée et dans le sud de la péninsule Ibérique, à environ 100 kilomètres à l'est du détroit de Gibraltar. Malaga fut fondée par les Phéniciens au 8e siècle av. J.-C., ce qui en fait l'une des plus anciennes villes d'Europe.
Au 19e siècle, la ville a connu une activité notable sur les plans industriel et révolutionnaire qui en a fait la première ville industrielle d'Espagne, et lui a valu le titre de « Toujours intrépide ».
