A chocolate brownie or simply a brownie is a square or rectangular chocolate baked confection. Brownies come in a variety of forms and may be either fudgy or cakey, depending on their density. They may include nuts, frosting, cream cheese, chocolate chips, or other ingredients. The brownie was developed in the United States at the end of the 19th century and popularized in the U.S. and Canada during the first half of the 20th century.
Brownies are a form of sheet cake. They are served warm with ice cream (a la mode), topped with whipped cream, or sprinkled with powdered sugar and fudge. In North America, they are common homemade treats and they are also popular in restaurants and coffeehouses.

Yesterday I had to institute the involuntary snail relocation project because we had to cut down the weeds and plants that keep them protected. I transferred about 25 to my front flower bed which is now going to be overrun with snails. It's my birthday and I have a sick girlie so I will be trying to make the most of it.

Angel 11:25pm. Lately I’ve been calling her Angel-cakey. My normal nickname for her is Angelcake. She is a pain, she is very picky with what she eats.
E esses são os pós-bases. Adoro pó-base. Para que tem pele oleosa é uma ótima opção. Estou sempre querendo experimentar outros, sempre na procura daquele que será meu amor eterno...
1. Dior Forever Compact (cor 23-peach-mistura de NC com NW): É o pó-base com o efeito mais semelhante a uma base líquida. Ela parece que se funde a pele (efeito parecido com o das bases minerais em pó). Cobertura media, boa duração.
2. Studio Fix Mac (NW25): Gosto muito do efeito dela (muita gente acha muito cakey), mas ela peca em um detalhe muito importante: ela não dura muito tempo para mim. Em apenas umas três horas parece que não passei nada.
3. Pureness Shiseido (cor 20): tem um bom efeito matificante mas acho sua cobertura muito leve, mas dura mais que o Fix na pele.
4. Sun Protectio Compact Shiseido (cor SP20): se tivesse que escolher somente um pó-base escolheria este. Tem boa cobertura (quem não gosta do fix talvez não goste), a melhor duração entre as quatro, segura bem a oleosidade, e, por incrível que pareça, a cor fica perfeita em mim (muita gente tem problemas com as cores da Shiseido). Ah, e ainda tem fator de proteção 34. Tenho até um refil reserva para quando essa acabar.
Seaside break .Visited local café and was very impressed with service , food and drinks. The staff were most welcoming and there was a very relaxed atmosphere.

These cookies are great for using up sub-optimal eating bananas. The consistency is a bit chewier than a muffin, not as crumbly as cakey cookies and they stay pretty moist overall. They are what I like to refer to as excellent ‘breakfast cookies’ for the following reasons:
1) the texture is perfect with coffee
2) they are not too sweet
3) the banana and oats give the impression of healthy eating
If you really like ginger, try doubling it because the flavor baked away to a pretty weak undertone in the end.
P.S. - I am especially proud of this post because this photo is actually mine (not my ghost photographer’s work) and, at the risk of appearing overly self-congratulatory, I think it looks pretty good if I do say so myself…

(I don’t work.. I’m a student. And I couldn’t shoot this on campus because I’m still on vacation :) But the thing I do at school when no one is looking…. Definitely take a nap. In my car. Between classes. In the commuter lot. So come to think of it...a lot of people are probably looking. But I wouldn't know, I'm asleep.)

Herbs & Spices
I could have taken a shop name board as there is a nearby curry take-away called " Surrey Spice " , but that did not appeal . Instead I have just taken a shot of what spices I had to hand looking down from above . What I do not have which may have been more interesting to take a macro of would have been Saffron !! Pound for pound or gram for gram Saffron is more costly than Gold !!!
In fact it is the most expensive spice to buy and here are a few facts about Saffron ( with thanks to The Cornish Bird )
For most people Saffron is a captivating and expensive spice which conjures up images of mysterious distant lands but for hundreds of years to the Cornish it has been a more homely than exotic ingredient and seen throughout the land of Kernow in Saffron Buns and Saffron Loaf .
It is a story of much conjecture and hot debate as to when saffron first arrived in Cornwall. There are stories of Phoenician and Roman traders from more than 2000 years ago but the more likely answer is a little later than that. In the 14th century Cornwall had a healthy trade in tin with its Spanish neighbours, who in turn had trade routes across the globe, one theory is that saffron first arrived through them.
And this fantastic aromatic spice made its way into our Cornish cooking. Saffron buns and saffron cake are an integral part of any cakey tea (well they always have been in my house anyway!) just as much as clotted cream. And there is even some evidence that saffron was cultivated in a few select places in Cornwall for a while – there are records of saffron fields in Launcells near Bude, Fowey, Penryn, Feock and Gerrans.
Further evidence of saffron of this can be found in old place names. The Falmouth Packet newspaper recorded a dispute over a lease in Devoran, the plot was called Saffron Meadow had been leased in 1898 by Mr Robert Treneer Mitchell, who was reportedly using the field to grow flowers. Another plot known as Saffron Park is mentioned in deeds at Veryan, near Tregony.
Growing and harvesting saffron is what makes it the most expensive spice in the world, it is very labour intensive. Saffron is in fact the dried red stigma of the autumn flowering purple Crocus Sativus. Each flower has to be hand picked and the three delicate stigma removed. It takes roughly 200 flowers to produce just 1 gram of saffron. But the result is a versatile spice with a unique flavour.
The name saffron comes from the Arabic word za’faran meaning yellow which gives a clue to its other use as a dye. Saffron also has medicinal properties and known to have a similar narcotic effect to opium. During the 18th and 19th centuries it was used in various opioid preparations, such a laudanum, for pain relief.
Saffron went out of fashion in cooking in England but it continued to remain a firm favourite here in Cornwall.
Recently however it has seen a bit of a revival with chefs both down here and in other parts of the country increasingly putting it on their menus and a small holding in Norfolk has even begun growing the precious crop. So maybe one day saffron will grow again in the Duchy that has taken this delicious spice from ancient Persia into its culture and its heart.
So Saffron may not be in the shot above , but Cinnamon is - so there is my choice for a sight & sound ----

I wanted to design some cupcakes that appeal more to my shadow side. I had ideas floating around and these were the result.
these were more like cake than cookie--dessicated coconut mixed with eggs, flour, and condensed milk then topped with a glacé cherry, then baked until golden brown, chewy and um, cakey.
I lifted the tempature,brightness and saturation.It was raining when I took this picture,but I had the light on.
New cookie recipe I made up, with chocolate chips inside a kind of cakey cookie. The confectioner's sugar on top reminds me of snow.

I made some very dark gooey fudgy brownies. I like them dense and insanely not cakey at all. They are like double chocolate with dark chocolate chunks. I topped them with a dark chocolate ganache and a salted caramel addition.

The extreme cold lasted 48 hours, totally encompassing every sense that should have said to run for cover. I feel unshakably drawn to the wildest, most terrible places to be when winter hits heavy – I feel like I'm missing out otherwise. The sea spray spins webs of saltwater and snow, creating a cakey coating on everything in range. This isn't the wonderland you've been told about, more of a threatening force with no pity or mercy at all. Roaring in my ears as if sound itself is enough to drown me, thundering up and down the coastline in search of some victim. If nature finds a way to make us fit, space for all the living and growing things, then weather is having none of it. Storms are that separate force, somehow, equally uncaring in every environment. Maybe it's best to just get out of the way, but I can't resist walking right into them.

Well, from what i can see so far on Flickr today, everyone has gone soft. If you can’t beat ‘em, ..join em. Actually I’m feeling a wee bit cakey and mushy myself today... so a bit of an ooOoooo or even an AarrRRRrrrrghh is just what the doctor ordered. Was quite cool watching these little dudes trying to keep up with mummy. Ok, so i’m not the next wildlife photographer of the year... but i’m trying, ‘very trying’, i hear you say.
