Louisiana Brown Pelican -- State Bird
Spotted in the Atchafalaya Basin as it sat perched in a Bald Cypress Tree. Kind of an unusual location to see this species there.....as this area was quite a bit North of their natural habitat.
Thank Y'all for takin' a look.......
I'm always humbled by your commentary.
Here's wishing you all a wonderful start to your week.
Full belly....
Overcast skies....
Cool still water.....
Peace & tranquility.....
Sure brings new meaning to the phrase "Southern Comfort"
Thanks for dropping in for a closer look.
Always honored by everyone's comments......
Y'all have a great Friday !
One of my favorite fishing villages to visit in South Central Louisiana. Pretty threatening weather rolling in off of the coast. Just love these colorful locations.
Happy Sunday friends.
Thanks for taking a look.
May you all have very Blessed week ahead !
What's wrong with this picture?
Maybe they're having a two-man tournament..... & she's keeping stats on their catches.
One never knows what you'll spot while on the water or out in the wild......
Thanks for taking a look......
Have a great Thursday...........
Tucked away, not far from a park, this little spot has virtually no signs of human interaction.

Explored? Although I haven't seen it, some have commented/congrats'd on "Front Page"~
It could be just an ugly rumor...

This is an extract from the Bayoutiful picture about a month ago, but this section works on its own, and has a different and lighter mood than the full photograph. You can often find a picture within a picture. Thank goodness for large file sizes. Atchafalaya Basin, Louisiana, USA, November 2019

I'm back from an incredible trip of the Bayou region. I can't thank enough some folks (I will not mention names) for the tremendous help setting up this trip. The landscape and condition we encountered fully recharged myself. I've been laying low for a few months now, not being very inspired to go out and shoot. I wanted to go to a place that's completely different from what I normally see. Fell in love with this place, without the crowd and very laid back way of life.So many shots to look at and process, but I thought I'll start with this one to share you folks my adventure. Thank you for looking and have a great day/evening.
I visited a Louisiana rural life museum the other day that I've been hearing about in Baton Rouge. I didn't have long to look around, but it looked like a great place for some foto-0ps!!! Lots of old stuff, and it looks like it will really be good in the spring when everything starts to bloom!
BTW, does anyone know how to not blow the sky out in a shot like this?
Musicians riding and playing in a horse trailer during the Courir de Mardi Gras de l'Anse, Mermentau Louisiana. The acoustics in the trailer were actually very good as was the music.
Like most who visit Disneyland much less frequent than Walt Disney World, New Orleans square is a standout area to explore. The rich themeing and tight streets make for a very engaging environment. I was disappointed that the Court of Angles had been transformed in to a Christmas gift shop, but the rest of the area looked amazing with the lights and wreaths adorning the buildings.
I knew I wanted some photos of this area, so late the first night I set up for this bracket and waited for the area to clear. In fact, you can see a few ghosts in the image because it never fully cleared. What you can't see is a security guard directly behind me, and another cast member directly to my left.
This was an instance where the park was closed and I really wanted to get my shot, but the cast member to my left was very talkative. He had just emptied the trash cans on the left of the frame, saw me set up with my tripod, and came over to chat cameras. Apparently he had a Canon Rebel series camera and wanted to know what lens I was using and a few tips for night shots. I like chatting with CMs, but in this case it was going a little long, and with the security guard behind me, my shot was at risk. Fortunately, I got in just one bracket...

My first trip railfanning back from winter break yields very cold conditions and one of Canadian National's all-rail taconite trains. Seen here rolling under the BNSF at Saunders Junction.

Cajun moon, where does your power lie
As you move across the southern sky
You took my babe way too soon
What have you done, Cajun moon
Someday babe, when you want your man
And you find him gone, just like the wind
Don't trouble your mind whatever you do
'Cause Cajun moon took him from you
When daylight fades, the night comes on
You can hear the silence of this song
Don't trouble your mind whatever you do
'Cause he got me like he got you
