The strictly and geometrically designed corpus of this Parisian cabinet was decorated with rich carving and finely engraved ornament.
The interior contains a concealed great hall with the mythological lovers Venus and Mars at its center.
Unlike the freestanding ivory cabinets made at Augsburg, this cabinet-on-a-stand was positioned in front of a wall.

The Woodford cabinet is an addon to the previously released Woodford Dining Set with three wood options, it comes with a full set of crockery to accentuate the dining room. The cabinets come filled as well as empty if you want to use it for something else.
I couldn't let this one stay at the antique store.

I've returned home from holiday and had a little time to tinker with the doll cabinet today. I've been slowing making dioramas for all my bjd sizes so here's a little peek at my progress. One morning I woke to find that my husband had made all kinds of doll furniture for me. Since then we have been setting up comfy homes for my dolls together. We're tragically slow to finish but I'd rather wait for him to be home to do it together then do it alone. He is still traveling so much. :(
Here you can see the whole cabinet and my photo setup. It's pretty basic but it works well for me. The lamps are 'happy lights' which just means they replicate natural sunlight. Supposedly they're good for improving your mood. I'd say they work but this cabinet is pretty successful on it's own >w<;;
Cameras in a very dusty and smeared glass cabinet and the only lighting was the lamp you see reflected in the glass. Shot with Fujifilm x-t3 & 18-55mm f2.8-4 fujinon zoom lens.
A vintage style cabinet card with a Christmas theme.
The cabinet card was large enough to be easily viewed from across the room when typically displayed on a cabinet, which is probably why they became known as such in the vernacular. However, when the renowned Civil War photographer Mathew Brady first started offering them to his clientele towards the end of 1865, he used the trademark "Imperial Carte-de-Visite." Whatever the name, the popular print format joined the photograph album as a fixture in the late 19th-century Victorian parlor.

All-bisque doll with wooden ox on wheels. The little girl is wearing an old and beautifully hand-sewn silk dress.
Apologies in advance for the watermarks. I do really believe that on the open market, this may be the most valuable photograph I own, though I only paid in the low three-figures for it (on Ebay). I was very surprised that it didn't go higher. I love the rifle pointed at the little girl's head (an illusion, but still); I love the cat that moved, I love the one-eyed wispy bearded guy with the stogie. I imagine that these folks were playing a role on the day this photograph was made, and that they were well-aware of that role, but I also would guess that it was a role they were comfortable playing, having had lots of practice. The only thing that is missing is the patriarch of the clan. I've seen people like this. I've had an old man with a knife as big as that one come up to me and say, "You see this knife? You see how sharp this knife is? You could kill a man with a knife like that." ( On that occasion, having watched enough hog-butchering for one day, I got in my car and left.)
