The C&NW Spring Inspection train at Waseca MN. I grabbed this shot fast since I was in a hurry to get on the train before they backed on to what they called the "Roundhouse lead". (Of course the roundhouse had been gone for some years). I was invited to dinner with President Burkhardt to present the proposal drawn up by Steve Glischinski for the "Return of the 400" excursion we wanted to do. Unfortunately, Steve couldn't make it but I had a fine dinner and great conversation with Mr Burkhardt and the three managers that were with him (one of whom I think can be seen talking to the engineer in front of the 403). After dinner we had drinks and dessert of Sweet Potato pie which was a specialty of the chef. We also took time to look at the Wabash Timetable Steve had sent along as a gift. During that time the price of the trip dropped from $15,000 to $5,000 Later I asked the Division Supt if he minded me being there and he said it was great since Mr Burkhardt was talking to me and not telling them what might be fixed or changed on the division.
