Lake Thun is a fjord lake in the Bernese Oberland on the northern edge of the Alps. 17.5 km long, max. 3.5 km wide, depth 217m.
Its surface area is 47.85 km², making it the largest lake in Switzerland to lie in a single canton.
Build around 1100. Is the top 100 off UNESCO monuments!

Chiang Mai train station, Thailand
One stop of our Thailand tour was Chiang Mai. We have been really enjoying the city, a lot to do and to discover! The presence of buddhist monks is very high in this area of Thailand. We have been visit the most importants temples (called Wat) and seen so many monks. They bring such a sense of peace and calm.
When this photo was taken we have been waiting for the train to departure from Chiang Mai to Bangkok (12 hours travel during the night). The travel was absolutely comfortable!

Baboons are African Old World monkeys belonging to the genus Papio. Most baboons live in hierarchical troops. Group sizes vary between 5 to 250 animals (often about 50 or so), depending on specific circumstances, especially species and time of year.
Bavianen (Papio) vormen een geslacht van apen binnen de familie Cercopithecidae. Het verspreidingsgebied is het zuidelijke Arabisch schiereiland en Afrika ten zuiden van de Sahara. Het zijn op de mensapen na de grootste apensoorten. Bavianen trekken rond in groepen van 10 tot 200 exemplaren meestal bestaande uit enkele dominante mannetjes, vrouwen met hun jongen en onvolwassen dieren. De mannetjes leven in een hiërarchie. De grootste, sterkste en agressiefste baviaan is het dominantst. De meest dominante mannetjes hebben het recht om te paren, het beste voedsel en de beste slaapplaats. Meestal is dreigen (grommen, schijnaanvallen) genoeg om minder dominante dieren op hun plaats te wijzen. Soms dagen lager geplaatste mannetjes een dominante baviaan uit tot een gevecht. Bij deze gevechten kunnen gewonden en zelfs doden vallen. Dominante mannetjes houden zich enkel bezig met bronstige vrouwtjes, andere vrouwtjes negeren ze. Door middel van vlooien halen dieren de banden aan binnen de groep.
The Denver Zephyr was a premier streamlined passenger train operated by the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad (CB&Q) between Chicago and Denver, beginning in 1936 and running until 1973. The photograph shows the sleek, polished, unmistakably Budd-built train after threading its way through the Rockies. The Zephyr’s streamlined profile, with its rounded nose and smooth stainless-steel panels, stands in deliberate contrast to the jagged, snow-capped peaks behind it.
The “DENVER ZEPHYR” nameboard on the lead unit anchors the image in a specific chapter of railroad history. By the 1960s, the train had evolved into a fully realized streamliner with dome cars, “Slumbercoaches,” and a reputation for punctuality. Nebraska’s long, level plains giving way to the mountains of Colorado, was a hallmark of the route. This shift, almost imperceptible at night, was a quiet prelude to the dramatic daylight climb toward Denver and the Front Range.
The image carries with it the last great optimism of American passenger rail before the long twilight that followed. It is both a portrait and a reminder of when stainless steel and mountain air made a compelling argument for the romance of the rails.

Amtrak’s California Zephyr is currently the only direct intercity passenger train linking Chicago and Denver. It runs exactly once a day in each direction. The Westbound train departs Chicago Union Station in the afternoon and arrives at Denver Union Station the following morning. The Eastbound train departs Denver in the evening and arrives in Chicago the next afternoon. The entire route actually extends all the way between Chicago and Emeryville, California (in the San Francisco Bay Area), but the Chicago-to-Denver leg remains a crucial and highly popular segment of that daily schedule. – Wikipedia
