There are two common species of Butter and Eggs wildflowers found in Colorado. They are called "Butter and Eggs" because their flowers are pale yellow ("butter") and tinged with orange ("eggs").

This is Tall Butter and Eggs, aka Dalmatian Toadflax (Linaria dalmatica), deemed an invasive non-native species in Colorado. But they looked very attractive in the grassy slope at Red Rocks Park.

I'm pedaling as fast as I can to try to catch up!!!

My best friend Lexi Grayson and I having coffee and more importantly chatting and spending time with each other.

You're an incredible person Lexi , don't ever change.

Her version, which I like better btw.

or better yet, Brezen and butter. My favourite breakfast but a rare treat for me.

I prepared this for the last Macro Monday for the theme of bread but things happened and I couldn't finish it on time.

Thema der Woche bei Flickr Freitag ist: Bread and Butter,

Unused for MM. These images were made by first photographing the dish in front of an orange screen, that image was processed, displayed and the dish photographed again. One dish two images.

All seen at Gardd Bodnant in North Wales!

Yellow-rumped Thornbill (Acanthiza chrysorrhoa)

Always heard around the Sneydes Rd. area - not so often seen. This one was one of a flock of eight, the only one that stayed on the fence long enough to get a shot.

We have been in Norfolk for a few days but wandered down to Durdle Door on a rather convoluted trip home. Luckily enough the weather was great for a bit of coast walking.

This is Butter Rock which is a little way down the beach from the famous Durdle Door rock arch.

Thank you everyone for your visits, faves, and kind comments

Also called Yellow Toadflax, which is not very appealing, and Linaria Vulgaris for the Latin speakers among you. Please note that vulgaris simply means "common," without the modern English connotations of 'vulgar.' Grows wild, quite pretty, spreads prolifically, some consider it an invasive weed, since it's not native to North America, but has become naturalized here from Asia and Europe and has spread across the continent (a little like dandelions, but not quite so fecund).

I made this image on a dewy morning in August.

This little fellow decided he wanted to try out some peanut butter that I put on the post for birds. He must have liked it because he cleaned it all up!

... anyone else thinks that's a weird name for this elegant creature ... or is it just me ? ...

A Butter Cap in the late Autumn sunshine, with it's upturned cap showing the delicate frills beneath.

Macro Mondays 'bread and topping' theme. A crumpet topped with lots of butter to soak through the holes!

I had also had shots with melted cheese or jam but preferred this one - though I did enjoy eating the others too!

The image measures approx 1.5"

We call this TrollButter in Norway, it is a fungus. In english it has quite other names, read my tags - I don't even want to write them here

This Yellow-rumped warbler (affectionately known as butter-butt because of the yellow "pat of butter" on its rump) was busy fluttering from branch to branch catching insects.

I usually associate the Brimstone butterfly (Gonepteryx rhamni) with Spring, but it has been lovely to see so many on the wing this summer!

There is a view that the word 'butter-fly' originates from the yellow colour of male Brimstones. The wings of the female are very pale green, almost white, males have yellow-green underwings and yellow upperwings. The wing shape and vein pattern of both males and females perfectly matches a leaf when roosting overnight or hibernating within foliage.

Adults hibernate through cold weather, so may be seen flying on warm days throughout the year, although they are most common in the spring. Sightings peak in April and May as hibernating adults emerge, and in early August when their offspring reach adulthood. Usually seen in ones or twos, Brimstones are never very common, but are widespread.

They can be found in damp woodlands along sunny woodland rides and mature hedgerows and in large gardens across most of England, Wales and Ireland.

The foodplants of the larvae are buckthorn and alder buckthorn. Both shrubs are found in wet woodland, while buckthorn also occurs on dry chalk and limestone soils.

A bright cluster of Yellow Alpine Pasqueflower (Pulsatilla alpina ssp. apiifolia) stands below the headwall adjacent to the Passo dei Salati, Italian Alps.

We planned a completely different experience for this particular day, only to change our minds abruptly and head for the higher elevations when it became clear that the heat was too much for the majority of the party where we had started far below. Fortunately, there is a gondola from the town of Alagna that stops less than a kilometer from this beautiful rushing, verdant cleft of a valley. The hike up must surely be spectacular, as the trail passes through old Walser grazing meadows, replete with stone-roofed huts. I'll try to find a good-enough photo of one of these Walser structures soon as they are fascinating.

Technical notes: Hand-held focus stack of 4 images, manually blended. The frisky breeze made this task somewhat of an uphill battle.
