So I had gone upstairs to lock up the house before going to bed. It was about 10:45 PM. Happened to look out the window and saw this little rascal sitting in the fountain gorging on the sunflower seeds.

It did shed light on why that very morning I had gone out and the top of the fountain was on the ground, upside down. And I wondered how it got that way.

Now I know.

This photo is lit by my porch light that shines right out on the fountain where the fox is and there was actually another fox on the ground but I didn't get my camera quick enough to get that one, too.

I'm surprised this one didn't notice me or hear me as I settled in to watch him and take pictures. I was shooting through one of my front room windows, literally just feet from him.

I did get several decent images in spite of the very slow shutter speed. Sometimes he would sit nice and still allowing me to get some good shots.

Due to the high ISO the picture is a little noisy. I don't have any special noise reduction software other than what's in Lightroom. And I did do some noise reduction.

This fountain makes the perfect little throne for him, don't you think? Cute little guy, or gal.

This was taken at about 5:30 am - the park doesn't open until 6 am. The monment is just a few feet inside the park, so I walked in to take an up-close photo of it. I hadn't been there longer than a minute or two when a security officer came up to me asking me to leave. Yep, I was caught! Oh well - I stepped back to where this image was taken and captured this shot. Not exacty what I was going for, but it kept me out of trouble. That moment when he knew he wasn't alone lol, freeze they won't see me!

A close up profile portrait of a squirrel I scared in Texas. I didn't have to crop to much because I was just slightly below him.

I found his long whiskers interesting in this shot!

Have a great Monday guys!

Here's one from the archives, taken about three years ago at a historic farm site within what was then known as Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. The area, located in northwest Indiana, has since been designated as a U.S. National Park. This deteriorating wagon was an exception to what I found there, as much of the rest of the farm--settled in the 1860s--had been restored to the way it would have appeared around 1900.

I kind of liked the quite strict composition of the lines in this one. And there is a little detail I recognized after taking the shot: I got busted! The man passing by watched me closely in the reflection of the window pane. Hi there! :)

In a prior version of the image (in post production), I also created a version with a corrected perspective in order to get an even cleaner look. But then I decided to go for the more summery, analogue and grainy look, where - in my taste - the slight lens distortion fits in quite nicely.

I hope, you like it, too!

I do not claim to be any kind of wildlife photography expert, but I do know that when you get this look, it is time to go home and try again another day (and work hard to be even more quiet and camouflaged).

The Coyote lay down for just a minute. Being acutely aware of it's surroundings, it was continually glancing in all directions. Inevitably, it finally spotted me. This image was taken just as it stood and before it trotted off.
