Busan, is the second most populous city in the Republic of Korea after Seoul. The population of 3.5 million is around 70% of the population of my entire country New Zealand.

This perspective of the city is taken from the summit of Geumjeong Mountain (800 metres or 2,600 feet) looking towards the distant top left highrise of Haeundae Distirct and the Gwangan Bridge (the second longest in South Korea at 7.5km). Further out across the Korea Strait is southern Japan (around 200km or 120 miles).

I'm not the fishing type of street photographer. So, shots like these don't happen too often to me. I had to walk faster to get ahead of her and prepare for the shot.

Korean street food - fish cakes on sticks, tteokbokki (rice cakes) and other stuff.

Busan is the second largest city in South Korea. Although it is much smaller than Seoul, I believe it features a more visually appealing skyline and composition along the water. The Haeundae District is a popular area to take photographs at night. Puddles formed by rain or manually created with buckets allow for stunning reflections to be captured.

Busan is South Korea’s second-most populous city after Seoul, with a population of over 3.5 million inhabitants. It is the economic, cultural and educational center of southeastern South Korea, with its port — Korea’s busiest and the fifth-busiest in the world — only about 190 kilometers from the Japanese islands of Kyushu and Honshu.

Dusk was setting in as we sailed under the bridge leaving Busan , Korea. The bridge and the abutments were all lit up. And as we sailed through under it , the lights changed color going from green to purple to yellow and to pink. Phenomenal scene to remember.

We were lucky to get a great spot for the Busan fireworks festival. The smoke from the fireworks looked incredible as it passed through the buildings.

Always hung out around Haeundae beach and never really explored other areas along the Busan coast. Went by this time round checked out some cool temple and shrines along the coast. Caught some nice waves and didn’t really get wet.

Making the move to South Korea has been an interesting challenge. It feels wonderful to be back. I’d almost forgotten how brightly lit and busy the streets are, even at night. I missed this energy.

Our first priority was to find a favourite coffee shop nearby – we’re still undecided, but since this is Korea there’s plenty to choose from.

Now we’re in the process of forming good habits in our new life, exercising, meditating, not drinking too much…
