Another slide restoration from Summer 2012. Plenty to see here!

Gaio (Garrulus Glandarius)

Just because you live

Doesn't mean you are alive

Another slide restoration taken about a decade ago.

A nice display with the AEC coach, but the signs displayed showing the cost of the trips in Pounds, Shillings and Pence don't really work with a coach made at least 4 years after the country had gone decimal!

Houses somehow built into the fabric of the wall originally surrounding the Abbey grounds.

I summoned you, please come to me

Don't bury thoughts that you really want

I fill you up, drink from my cup...

Within me lies what you really want

These burning flames, these crashing waves

Wash over me like a hurricane

I captivate, you're hypnotized

Feel powerful, but it's me again

In the middle of the night

I'm wide awake

I crave your taste all night long

'Til morning comes

I'm getting what is mine

You gon' get yours….

I know I always poke fun at Fords, this one was barely visible at the property next to the kennel in Grand Forks, ND.

25 year old female polar bear (Ursus maritimus) "Chinook" used her powerful nose to find a sweet treat hidden in the snow. Enrichment experiences such as this help to bring out natural behavior in the polar bears that live at the San Diego Zoo.

Overgrown graves and headstone

Skagit County-Washington State

Hey! I can't live in here for another day

Darkness has kept the light concealed

Grim as ever

Hold on to faith as I dig another grave

Meanwhile the mice endure the wheel

Real as ever

And it seems I've been buried alive

Just about everyone these days has regrets and/or pain that we hide from the light. We bury all of it behind a host of facades and show the world our smile all the while triggers abound and some days just getting to the computer is almost too much. We hide behind these perfect avis all the imperfections we fear will make people see us in a different light. It is these imperfections however, that make us the human beings that we are. And just so you know, being human is beautiful, the broken spaces and hidden corners of the soul show strength and beauty. Life isn't always easy but it is worth it.

Stone Sour - Imperfect

Some things are better off forgotten

We bury them in places that we really only visit by ourselves

Oh, and you were a version like no other

Oh, they never tell you what to do when all you see is gone

What's the sense in anything when what they say is wrong?

Oh, what do you wanna hear?

Do you wanna know how many times I tore myself apart

'Cause you're not here?

And oh, why do you wanna know?

Does it make you feel alive?

I had to die to finally let you go

Stop me, I find myself believing

Oh, a story gets rewritten so a blasphemy's permitted once again

Oh, and you were so perfectly imperfect

Oh, they never tell you what to do when all you have are lies

What's the sense in anything, it's just one more goodbye

Grace O'Malley's Castle, Kildavnet, Mayo Co, Ireland

The Tower at Kildavnet, in the south-east corner of Achill Island, is a perfect example of a 15th century Irish tower house. The Gaelic Chiefs of the time copied a Norman design and constructed many such tower houses. The tower at Kildavnet is thought to have been constructed by the Clan O’Malley in about 1429, but is associated locally with a descendant of the original builders, Grace O’Malley or Granuaile. This legendary pirate queen is thought to have been born around 1530 and died in about 1603. The Tower at Kildavnet is one of a series of such strongholds that Granuaile established along the western seaboard (she is said to be buried in a similar tower on Clare Island) as she dominated the waters during the 16th century.

Bertie has a whole laundry basket overflowing with toys - and he knows which is which too. If you ask him "Where's dragon", he will root out dragon. The same goes for any of his toys - clever little fellow. Geo-location has been moved to protect our privacy.

I wasn't actually out looking specifically for Owls this time. I was actually just out walking the dog over the moors, trying to nurse off a hangover. To my utter amazement, this stunning individual decided to land right in front of us. I was wearing bright clothing too! Yet as I've learned from my past mistakes, I now always carry my camera with me everywhere I go, just in case special things like this happen 😎

A week, and two snow storms, ago! And here we go again with yet another blizzard for Eastern Massachusetts this weekend. But we should squeak by, here in the western part of the state, with just a nasty Nor'easter.

Happy Snowy Fence Friday, my friends! Have a warm and safe Valentine's Day weekend! :)
