A bulbous plant is a wintering crop by storing food in a bulb , underground or otherwise, in fact a spherical accumulation of fleshy leaves. These are generally monocotyledonous plants.
A number of bulbous plants are known as foods, such as onion and garlic . Other bulbous plants, the so-called flower bulbs, are grown for decoration, such as the tulip , the hyacinth , the daffodil and the blue grape . In the Netherlands in particular, the cultivation of ornamental bulbous plants is a considerable branch of activity.
In addition to bulbous plants for the garden, there are also bulbous plants that are grown especially for flowering indoors, such as Hippeastrum .

Single red tulip in purple hyacinth field. Noord-Holland, Nederland.
The hyacinth fields turn to color from the beginning of April to End April. Main colors are white, purple and pink in the hyacinth fields. During the flowering period of the hyacinths, the bulb fields are also extra fragrant in addition to colorful. The smell of the hyacinths can then be smelled throughout the region.
