I captured this scene last summer when a patch of wildflowers had grown in a nearby field. I was keen to get as blurred a summer colours background as possible and was happy with the result. I decided to share this now as there is a definite sense in Sussex of late that spring is finally with us!
I took this shot of a bumbleebee helping itself to the nectar found within the many flowers on a single Wild Teasel plant's head. I really liked the blurred green background of the field in the distance and the way the bee was positioned on the edge of the flower band.
Lynx Spider, the wait and watch player of ambush.
Most of them have large spiny bristles on their legs and in many species the bristles form almost a basket-like structure that may assist in confining the prey that they grasp, and protect the spider from its struggles. Most Oxyopes and Hamataliwa species are small to medium in size; they tend to be drab ambush hunters; depending to some extent on the season, some occupy flowers, ambushing pollinating insects. In this they resemble the crab spiders (Thomisidae) in behaviour. Others crouch in wait, camouflaged on plant stalks or bark.
Lynx spiders, in spite of being largely ambush hunters, are very speedy runners and leapers, alert and with good vision.

A close-up look at a beautifully patterned leaf beetle (family Chrysomelidae), resting on a slender stem. Its vibrant green elytra with a striking dark marking, paired with those long segmented red antennae, make it a fascinating subject for macro photography.
Photographed with care to reveal the incredible textures and fine details often overlooked by the naked eye. Macro work like this always reminds me that even the smallest creatures carry their own beauty and character.

Night temperature is coming down and in humid monsoon most insect need time to dry the dew drops before they leave their perch.

A detailed macro view of the Papaya Fruit Fly (Bactrocera sp.), a species known for its striking patterned wings and vividly colored eyes. This tiny insect may be an agricultural pest, but under the macro lens, it reveals an extraordinary beauty often overlooked — from the metallic sheen of its body to the complex textures in its compound eyes.
Photographed on a leaf, this shot highlights the incredible detail of the natural world that often goes unnoticed with the naked eye. Macro photography continues to remind me that even the smallest creatures carry a fascinating story.
