Stagg endpin rattle solution as designed by my luthier. It's a tent pole spring. An easier solution is to tape some small bubblewrap around the end of the rod to cushion it inside the body when in playing position.

Our Daily Challenge: a moment in your day

Trying to get a Christmas portrait of Fran, Alex and Sam for the 'other' granny, but beaten by a sheet of old bubblewrap. #storyofChristmas

Christmas chaos at Southmuir Primary. 200 children, 200 snowmen and 200 Christmas cards! Melted!!

What do you do with a collection of watercolour experiments? A pleasing four season calendar

For the sixth straight year, students in the Central Campus Fashion Design Program are creating bubblewrap garments for the upcoming ChildServe fashion fundraiser. Local designers also donate to the fundraiser, but Central's fashion program is the only high school that participates. This year, students from Tracy Holland's fashion program will finish and donate twelve designs.

Starting my cassette collection...again. Had one in the 80s and early 90s. I have no idea where any of the tapes ended up. Probably gave them away to start my CD collection.

Electronic bubble wrap: My new addiction. I will never again be bored while at loading screens at my computer. :D

1st July 2009 - A strange day. Work wasn't good, but I escaped some annoying work for another month for unknown reasons I am rejoicing in. Other good news in the day is that PSC was delivered (my gold card was printed within it, yay! It's so cool seeing work printed by friends in there too, makes me v excitable), plus plans to go visit some leeches at the Wellcome Institute next week, plus my first ever Etsy buyer paid. Which brings me to the bubble wrap to prepare my package for its journey to America. I feel like a Doctor Who baddie :D

Now all I have to do is lose the mad pulsating headache and all will be well with the world.

The daily dose of randomness...

This high-voltage insulator is still packed in bubble-wrap, and there is a sheet of documentation taped to the conductor in the top-left.

Bubblewrap

Simple!

Manon can pull off anything :D

An old photographic flashgun, photographed in visible and X-Rayed, then the two images combined at the same scale to show the ghostly inner workings.

I'm not entirely happy with the way this came out but it is only a test: as with all of these imaging experiments, I'm sure I'll be able to improve my technique with time.

Image made using a highly modified Scanmax 20 X-Ray scanner with a Kodak Lanex Fine screen.

Comments are welcomed.

I love these little flowers. They grow in the shade of a wall in a narrow border in my front garden.

Strobist Info : MR14EX macro flash hand held camera right (ETTL) 580EXII @ 1/32 power to background triggered by PC cord.

The yellow background is provided by a t shirt with clear bubble wrap over it and lit by a 580EXII flash to provide the bokeh.

Obviously not professional but I was proud of myself for making this bikini out of bubble wrap and balloons.

A package arrived yesterday from my Dad. In it was the Vivitar 283 flash with the busted hotshoe he had offered. But that wasn't all that that was in the box. Very carefully shrouded in bubblewrap was a souvenir from my childhood days.

The memento was a Canon 50mm macro lens. Of all the lenses my father owned, this was my favorite. I'd shoot endless rolls of film (Kodak Tri-X, for anyone who remembers it) of bugs, fabrics, rocks, anything that seemed interesting close up. And when you're 11 years old, *everything* is interesting.

Also thoughtfully included in the box was an FD to EOS lens adapter, so I could use the macro lens with my 40d. Of course, it doesn't support AF and you still have to set the aperture yourself, but when shooting macro pretty much everything is set manually anyway.

Which brings us to this photo. A test shot was needed to make sure everything works, and I had a quarter handy. It's all coming back now, the shallow DOF, getting the right aperture setting and the right distance.

I think I'm ready to go shot some bugs again :)

I know this appeals to the inner child in me. Here's a link so you can do it online: www.virtual-bubblewrap.com/bubble-wrap.swf It really does make a big pop when you burst the bubbles :)

I liked the way this came out...it is a photograph, not something computer-made. This is a piece of bubble-wrap, between my lens and my black-light. The bubble-wrap is large(each bubble is ~28mm dia./10mm thick) and is pinkish colored. I held the wrap at my lens' (EF50mm f1.4) closest focus distance.. around 18", in one hand, and held the cam. in the other. The wrap was ~1-1.5 feet from the black light.

I've been messing around with different bubble-wraps for over a month now, and since this year is the 50th anniversary of it..this seems mildly appropriate. :)

I don't recommend viewing it at 100%(though it looks cool)...it's pretty bright and pink, but it's there if anyone wants to check it out:

Bubblewrap popping for charity - April 2014

Everything looks cool up close, and bubble wrap, especially so.

We purchased a new printer this weekend and part of the packaging was this sheet of Bubble Wrap.

And yes I did Pop a few of these in case you were wondering.

Isn't that the best stress reliever ever??
