I made a shape out of bubble wrap then covered in a plastic bag and packing tape to secure.

I wet the resist with soapy water.

A scanner photo. Not with a scanner camera, just the cardboard laying on the glass of a flatbed scanner.

Nothing sucks worse than moving during a breakup, but what sucks even more is having to individual wrap up your giant toy collection and figure out where it will reside till you find a permanent place to live, oh and worry about where that place is and how safe it will be.

Feel free to remix. All I ask is that you don't sell it as is. You are free to sell your own artwork which incorporates it. Just don't be a troll.

Also, Feel free to use it without attribution. Flickr doesn't give that as an option. Note that this does not apply to all my photos, only ones bearing this label. If you like it, or use it, I'd love to see what you do with it. Send me an email pointer if you'd like!

Spraying with soapy water, adding merino then flattening. It's very messy, and makes it easier if you pull off lots of merino ready to add before spraying again, and flattening.

Got another parcel today, I get so many now I have to go and collect them from the office. Typical. I was inspired for this by a recent flickr blog that was about someone who uses paper and bubble wrap to create abstract abstract, so I wanted to try it myself, but I was trying to create more of an effect with the light in the way it hits the individual bubbles. So I'm pleased with this.

They think you're in a commercial box,

suffocated in bubblewrap,

with a special offer price tag,

and a perfect fairytale name.

They think that if they pull this part,

she's just plastic, it won't hurt,

we can glue it back on,

you'll hardly even notice.

They think that you won't cry,

if they knot your hair,

or even stick pins in your waxy eyes,

because you're plastic, they won't care.

Based on a conversation I had with a friend this evening, it's quite a touchy subject for me but nonetheless, good enough to weave into a photograph.

I then added the first layer of merino, starting on the bottom, then going up the sides.

They made this guy at work while I was on vacation, to cope with my absence.

When all the merino was added, I covered it in the bottom of half a pair of nylon tights...it'd be good to have someone help with that part-or use whatever netting you usually do. I then sprayed it with soap water again. Then rubbed up and down, then across, and rubbed the bottom. I then took off the tights and gently pushed the felt down to remove the resist.

2nd Merino layer going around the resist.

I used a different colour for the second layer so I could make sure I was covering it properly. I added merino to the bottom in the opposite direction to the first layer, then finished the layer by adding merino around the resist, 90 degrees to the first layer

First layer almost complete. I turned it round checking for bare patches.

2nd layer almost finished

I sprayed, added merino, then sprayed again, smoothing and flattening

1. Carefully take the bladder out of a football-deflating it helps. Re inflate, and put on bubblewrap with the valve on the bottom

Next, I put my hand inside and rubbed the felt over bubblewrap, turned it inside out and rubbed again. I rinsed it in cold and warm water alternately, and threw it in the bath. I then rinsed in cold water and rubbed it together between my palms, I noticed the top was wide and a bit soft so I rubbed that a bit more and it thickened and shrunk

14. Turn inside out and start to rub evenly all around on bubblewrap

33. Put the mat and bubblewrap back, then rub the felt on the bubblewrap-front and back. Work carefully around the edges to make sure it is felted equally, and to smooth any straggly edges if you didn't fold.

3rd layer-going up the resist, like the first layer

My puppy goes crazy when I pop these little bubbles- wags her tail and runs all around the house like a mad dog. I love her so and she makes me laugh.

Last layer. Adding merino to the bottom in the opposite direction again

34. Almost done.

If there are any areas which seem less felted, or 'baggy'-if the felt ripples up, especially along the edges, then rub that area on the bubblewrap.

Also if corners are looking 'stretched', give them an extra rub, felt shrinks in the direction it is rubbed.

30. Roll up the felt in the mat. I remove the bubblewrap here because the mat is textured, but the felt is still between the pieces of netting. I also use a piece of dowelling, it makes it firmer and easier to roll.

In Australia there is a right of passage for when you first move out of your parents house.

Weekends involve spending much of your weekly earnings on ingredients for colorful beverages and inviting all your mates over to destroy some part of your rental house and generally upset the neighbours.

You inevitably wind up asleep in a corner hugging a bottle of cheap booze and wondering why you do it every weekend.
