We saw lots of these on our trip - in fact I have never seen so many deer in North America as we did this time
“A heavy mist enveloped Dartmoor, and from Combestone Tor the great earth ridges swept southerly away all smothered in vapour. Below the broken rock-piles of the tor a steep hill fell sharply, and here nothing but a foxglove or two and a withered white-thorn rose stark against the dim wall of moving mist behind them. In varying densities it floated, and sometimes it was suddenly rent and parted like a ragged veil, to reveal the gorges of Dart beneath Combestone and the neighbouring hills beyond. The world visible at these moments was dimmed to delicate jade; it appeared and vanished at the freak of the mist; and now the crowns of Yar and Sharp and Bel limned ghostly out of the welter and now again they vanished, while lower slopes were revealed. The wind dealt similarly with sound, for the cry of Dart rose up fitfully through it, and came and went, now clear, now hushed by the lull and lift of the breezes.
Beside the tor, where stood its squat and weathered piles with fingers and filaments of vapour stealing among them, there browsed a sheep or two and a shaggy mare with a little mouse-coloured foal. The infant thing squeaked and galloped hither and thither, then it sucked and presently lay down to sleep. The grey air rang and rippled with lark music, and one might have heard four separate songs tinkling together up, up, into the aerial place. Then came also another sound from the hidden Moor a strange, intermittent growl, as of some gigantic animal busy there. The muffled noise persisted, but its cause was hidden.”

The springbok (Antidorcas marsupialis) is a medium-sized antelope found mainly in southern and southwestern Africa. The sole member of the genus Antidorcas.
Active mainly at dawn and dusk, springbok form harems (mixed-sex herds). In earlier times, springbok of the Kalahari desert and Karoo migrated in large numbers across the countryside, a practice known as trekbokken.
A feature unique to the springbok is pronking, in which the springbok performs multiple leaps into the air, up to 2 m (6.6 ft) above the ground, in a stiff-legged posture, with the back bowed and the white flap lifted.
Primarily a browser, the springbok feeds on shrubs and succulents; this antelope can live without drinking water for years, meeting its requirements through eating succulent vegetation. Breeding takes place year-round, and peaks in the rainy season, when forage is most abundant.
Springbok inhabit the dry areas of south and southwestern Africa. The International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources classifies the springbok as a least concern species. – Wikipedia
This image captures a moment of retail browsing. A woman, likely an adult, is standing outside a shop, intently looking at the window display. The shop appears to specialize in toys and novelties, as evidenced by the numerous stuffed animals and other items visible inside. The shop's branding is playful and eye-catching, with the name 'LABUBU' repeated in a vibrant, cartoonish font. The woman's attire – a long, flowing dress – contrasts with the playful nature of the shop's aesthetic.
A doe and her fawn browse the spring hillside for edibles. Fortunately for them, anything they put in their mouth is edible in this lush environment. This is a companion image to the one I posted yesterday--same time, same place--a little more intimate, with hopefully the same peaceful easy feeling of gentle beings going about their business.

Melaleuca is a genus of plants in the myrtle family. Most melaleucas are endemic to Australia. Melaleuca pulchella is endemic to the south of Western Australia. It is one of only two species of Melaleuca to have two kinds of stamens. The outer stamens are longer and curved, giving the appearance of a claw to the flower. There are five bundles of stamens around the flower, each with about 45 to 80 short, sterile stamens and 10 to 15 long, curved, outer stamens. An evening walk is made all the better by an encounter with this handsome Roebuck just as the sun was about to go down...☺️
Elk are one member of the deer family that both graze (eat grasses) and browse (eat leaves).
The bulls (or more properly, stags) are quite docile in the summer and are either loners or hang out with other bulls in small groups. In the fall, during the rut, the bulls are unpredictable and dangerous and should not be approached.
Eight shot joiner during which someone walking a dog disturbed the browsing Rooks, I kept shooting my sequence suspecting this would work and if not I could always start again! To my surprise the joiner worked perfectly with Rooks in flight and all.
Completely re-processed here from my earlier upload.

As I browse through Flickr and other sites, I am at times blown away by the images I see. It can be by a majestic landscape, a subtle expression in a portrait, the frozen action of an athlete, the colors and shapes of an abstract or just the light. My heart will skip a beat, my pulse will quicken, I am moved. I am forced to stop, examine everything a bit closer, to think about how and why the photographer captured the image. It will circle back to my own work and I will try to think about whoever is viewing my images and hope they too will be moved in some way.
Yesterday I listened to a Ted Radio Hour podcast "The Meaning of Work" www.npr.org/podcasts/510298/ted-radio-hour. One of the people telling their stories was Dame Steve Shirley, an inspiring and fascinating woman. One of the things she said was "I have to make my life worth saving, and each day you spend as if it would be your last." I love this so much and it is made more meaningful when you calculate out the days of life expectancy. My 5 year old daughter and I figured out yesterday that one million hours is 114.155251 years and there are 36,524.25 days in 100 years. Some days it feels like our lives will go on forever but when you stop and acknowledge that there is a limit to our existence it can make you view your life in a very different and profound way. Start today and make your life worth saving!

Just browsed through the groups with a weekly theme, wondered why Crazy Tuesday is not closed - is it Tuesday already? Oppsie, almost over. What's the theme? On the top.
I'm so fed up with rovers that I already started to make 'normal' toy photos to have a running start in March... wait, make that a cycling start on a rotten, wooden railing.

After placing bird feeders in our back yard we've had several new species of birds arrive. Among them are American Goldfinch's. I've seen one (maybe two) in the past 23 years we've lived here but this year many have descended upon our abode. This male seems choosy in his food selection.
Since I can't travel because of the current pandemic I might as well take advantage of the opportunities that're right under my nose.
I went browsing at the harajuku event on Second Life and came across this pretty dress ,I love the material but without reading the info on the dress I bought it and realized it's only for Maitreya bodyXD but I managed to make work with my Legacy alpha and it came out pretty good if I do say so myself :).This is innocent, cute yet not childish girly which I love a lot.I had a hard time choosing colors that I like because they all are absolutely cute!

Recently I came across a beautiful photo while browsing and initially thought the location would be somewhere exotic like Patagonia or Iceland. So to gather more info about the location I did a google image search and one of the results was by a photographer who gave more info about this spectacular location which was only a 4-hour drive for me and was located right in one of my favorite locations, the eastern Sierras. Location Name was Hot Creek geological site and it’s a small drive up from the famous little town of Mammoth Lakes, CA.
So we planned an impromptu weekend trip and bright early on a Saturday I dragged my very sleepy wife to the amazing location at 4:45 am after about 5 hours of sleep. Luckily we found the location quite early, set the camera on the tripod and waited for the sun to rise. We were not disappointed and witnessed one of the most epic sunrises we have seen in a while. We spend about an hour taking images of the beautiful location and headed back to our hotel room for a bite to eat and much-deserved sleep. Thanks again for visiting. Hope everyone likes this pic...
Brooklyn Public Library has a "Browse The Branches" campaign that encourages everyone to visit the 62 branch libraries. You are given a booklet and then visit a branch to collect a sticker. There are prizes awarded as you collect a certain number of stickers. It's a great way to visit Brooklyn neighborhoods as well as the libraries. I collected the first stickers as I had things to do nearby. Now I'm mapping out plans around the branches themselves, of course I do find other things as I make my way by bus and subway. I'm a little over a third of the way through. All I can say is more to come!
