The bronze cattle statues on top of the Rindermarktbrunnen. The entire ensemble intends to remember the times when the Rindermarkt (= cattle market) was a place to trade cattle.

The wonderful coloring of the male Common Grackle adds a nice relief to the muted landscape as spring begins.
I'm still going with the "bronze" variety unless someone knows more definitively....
Thank you for your visits and inspiration!

When I opened this RAW file it was a black blob with a blue wing and red eye. My goal was to build a work flow that would get more detail and never planned to post it due to the background. Any critique you have, I would love to here it.

And now for something different... a couple of days ago I was out at Confluence State Park-- the point where the Mississippi and Missouri rivers come together. Right at the tip where the rivers meet, there were quite a few of these beetles in the sand. They are a bit drab from a distance, but the patterns and colors become apparent when you look closely. Very cool little beetles!
Since I had the wing-tip shoes I graduated college in, and was married in, I got them bronzed at Nieman-Marcus in Chicago. II decided to try it with the weather. Heee
This is a small, aggressive, and highly vocal bird found across South and Southeast Asia. Recognizable by its glossy, metallic blue-green or purple-black plumage and well-forked tail as seen clearly in this shot. It inhabits forests, gardens, and plantations, where it hunts insects by making agile aerial sallies. It is the smallest of the Drongo species. It features a compact body, a flat bill, and feathers on the head, neck, and breast that shimmer with a metallic gloss. These birds are known for their bold and fearless nature, often attacking much larger birds to defend their territory or nests. They are skilled mimics, capable of imitating the calls of various other birds and animals. Primarily insectivorous, they typically perch conspicuously in the forest canopy or edges, darting out to catch insects in flight. They are often seen singly, in pairs, or within mixed-species foraging flocks.
