15 hours and 8000 miles apart but brothers at heart. I am thankful this year for my dood Pengu Wes for constantly being there for me day and night. He's always there for me - talking about our lives, our tribulations and our triumphs. Jokes and serious conversations know no boundaries and no judgements. He's a pillar of comfort and strength for me through these two tough years.
Even though he's my younger brother, he balances my stress-crazy-overthinking head with his goofy calm personality. A true diamond that I found.

It's that special time again: Dura made hair for us - and oh my, I love this one! It's unisex hair with two different options for bangs, undercut version and mirrored version. Though I personally just admire the fine strand that seem to get more and more detailed every time. Profile portrait of Archie surveying some of his territory and ensuring it is safe.
When he first had the outside world to explore he was bold and hopped over fences until we heard an almighty ruckus and Archie flew over the fence having received a pierced ear. Poor Archie has not ventured outside of the garden since and cowers whenever a neighbouring cat comes into the garden.
He does, however, seem to be enamoured by one cat that very occasionally appears in the neighbours garden. An intact male that we call Barry, which may or may not be his name, and Archie spends time every day looking through the fence to see if Barry is there. It is a fine 'bromance' indeed.
I had to pick up my camera at least once in February on my path to rekindling my relationship with photography and this is the result. Photography twice in two months might not sound like much but it is a massive improvement on where I was last year. Archie may have some form of kitty trauma but my PTSD is complex and a difficult hurdle to overcome. Baby steps.
Thank you all so much for your love and support throughout this difficult battle to reclaim my life from trauma.

Chapter 1. Playing Dirty.
He took him down hard, a deliberate, bone-rattling hit that sent them both crashing to the ice. The arena erupted, twenty thousand voices rising in a single, feral roar, hungry for the bloody climax of a five-year feud.
Fans were on their feet, screaming for impact, for fists, for something final, as the two bitterest rivals finally went down. The commentators were already calling it the clash of the season. A culmination of pure, unadulterated hatred.
From the stands it looked like a brutal, breathless showdown.
To the officials scrambling over the boards, it looked like absolute murder.
To everyone else, just another chapter in a rivalry written in bruises and bad blood..
But down on the ice, shielded by the chaotic blur of arriving referees and flashing cameras, the violent illusion vanished.
Adam had his rival, Ben, pinned hard against the scarred ice, their faces inches apart, eyes locked like stags in heat.
The impact should have sent them coming up swinging.
Instead, it held them there, locked, breath to breath, like neither quite remembered how to let go.
Fists gripped together tighter than necessary. Eyes lingered longer than they should.
Adam straddled his supposed nemesis, deliberately angling his broad shoulders to block out the overhead cameras and the stadium lights.
Beneath him, Ben wasn’t struggling. His chest rose and fell, sharp with breath, his hair damp against is forehead, but his hands, hidden entirely from the referee’s line of sight, weren't clenched for a punch. Instead, nimble fingers gripped the fabric at Adam’s waist, pulling him just a fraction of an inch closer.
A flicker of something practiced.
Something hidden.
Something that had no place on the ice.
"You're going to get us thrown in the box," came the breathless, hushed whisper from the ice, Ben’s dark eyes flashing with an electricity that had absolutely nothing to do with the playoffs.
Adam didn’t move.
Didn’t pull back.
He let his weight settle perfectly over Ben beneath him, pinning him down.
He shifted his hips, his knee nudging firmly between his rival's thighs, drawing a sharp, completely involuntary gasp from Ben that was instantly swallowed by the stadium's roar.
"Careful," Ben hissed. His dark eyes were blown wide, his frosty grip tightening into Adams. Not to push him away, but to hold him exactly where he was. "There are twenty thousand people watching us right now."
“Then let them watch," Adam murmured back, his own icy hand sliding down to grip his rival’s hip with a bruising, possessive pressure. He let his gaze drop, taking in the flushed cheeks and parted lips. "Tell the press at the post-game exactly how much you despise me."
A wicked, devastating smirk finally broke through Ben’s feigned anger, still pinned to the cold ice. "I'll tell them you play incredibly dirty," he breathed, his frostbitten fingers curled tight on Adam’s jersey, pulling him an inch lower still "And the second the locker room empties out, I expect you to prove it."
"Take the penalty,…” Adam whispered back, his voice dropping into a register that made his pulse hammer wildly in his throat. “…then, wait for me in the tunnels. I'm going to show you exactly what a real take down looks like."
His gaze dropped to Ben’s glistening lips for one charged, breathless split second, right before the referees finally dragged them apart.

All props go to the insanely talented Adam Arrowmint for the idea for the picture, for creating the pose, for building the set… to be honest I just had to lay there and look pretty. Despite the subzero temperatures, the two hour shoot seemed to last two minutes with Adam who made the entire thing really easy and fun. If you get the chance to do a pic with him, grab it by his Ginger locks!!

Benji and Trino. They have some skirmishes but they are good buddies and play together, too.. Here Benji is planning an attack on Trino. In the end, Benji is hanging in the air clutching Trino's neck. Then they both took off doing crazy cat and playing chase around the house. They have fun.

Some would say that old rock is a love affair of mine in Glencoe, I say more of a Bromance, no stop there tonight on the road as have a little tree in mind for morning, hugging not allowed.
We're having a heatwave where I live, so I thought it would be a perfect time to share this pic of me and my mate Angeus trying to get some shut eye on what is a very unusually hot and sticky night...
I think I need another ice cold shower....
Continuing with the Bromance theme:
If I was forced to pick a favorite image from my own "portfolio", this would be it. Most times, I'm not terribly thrilled with my photographic results. My usual workflow goes something like: Shoot image. Edit image. Like image. Go check my contact's images on Flickr. Realize how much better they are than mine. Go back and dislike image. There are a handful of photographers on Flickr who I KNOW are going to produce outstanding shots on a consistent basis. One of the folks at the top of that list is Jesse Estes
The most astonishing part of Jesse's high quality of work is that he is self-taught. I just don't know how people can produce such artistically sublime imagery without lots of instruction. I guess some talent is just pure.
Of all the incredible images that Jesse has shared with us in his photostream, one literally dropped my jaw to the floor and sucked all the air out of my lungs. OH MY GOD CHECK THIS OUT!! THIS image will stand the test of time as one of the most wonderful I've ever seen, because it was my introduction to a truly magical spot on earth. I think I sent Jesse a note expressing the enormity of my admiration.
Fast forward to last winter, and imagine my sheer delight when Jesse invited me to make the trek in to see this corner of the Gorge that he worked so hard to find. He warned me it would be tough to get to. I figured I'm a pretty big guy, so how tough could it be? It was tough to get to.
I liked Jesse instantly. He's a true gentleman; soft spoken with kind eyes and a relaxed demeanor. You couldn't ask for a better guide, as Jesse was constantly attentive to make sure that I hadn't been swept to my death by the strong current and ice-slick rocks. To reach this spot in the winter requires several crossings of some extremely swift water, at times approaching the cold-sensitive bellybutton on my 6'5" frame. Ever the gentleman, Jesse would always position himself upstream of me to break the current as we struggled across..... of course now that I think of it with a non-frozen mind, he was probably thinking "One wrong step, and I'm going for a nasty, cold, LONG, dangerous ride. I'll bet that fat guy downstream of me will make an excellent raft". Make no mistake, it was treacherous.
I've been back to this spot several times since this first incredible day, thinking that I wanted to see it with its spring green coat. The crossing gets MUCH easier as spring takes hold, but the mood changes as well, and I've found that the character of the place slips downstream with the diminished water flow.
After a few hours of uneasy footing and freezing adventure, sprinkled with some wonderful conversation, we rounded the corner into this amphitheater of moss and atmosphere. In short, the place delivers. I'll never be able to fully thank you, Jesse, for sharing this wonderful morning with me. It definitely marks the high water mark (pun intended) of my short shooting "career", and I suspect it will be many many years before I'm able to replicate the sense of awe that befell me that day.
I'm off, Flickr friends. A little work followed by a week long vacation/phototrip. If I get eaten by a bear, I wanted this to be my last image posted. Luckily, the way I see it, I don't need to actually outrun any bears, I just need to outrun Steve Turner.
