Broadcast will probably be snuggling on this fluffy winter blanket all day while I bike to work in 11 degrees Farenheit / -11 degrees Celcius. This is not my favorite biking temperature, I have to say.

Earlier this week, Broadcast turned 8 years old but, as she was very busy in her second grade class learning about adverbs at the time, we had to wait to celebrate her birthday on Caturday.

A visit to Ugchelen FM DAB+ Radio Broadcast Tower near Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. The tower has a height of 142 meter.
Broadcast turned 11 today! I don't know if cats understand that it is their birthday even when we talk to them about it but I do think she understands she's receiving a lot of extra special Caturday treats!
Broadcast is named after one of my favorite bands of all time:

A guy listens intently to latest news broadcast on his transistor radio while relaxing at the porch of his house by the highway at a village in Subic, Zambales, Philippines.
ENG: A view over Hamburg's city centre. The main church is the St. Michaelis Church - also called "Michel" - and this is Hamburg's most famous landmark. These three selected pictures were taken while visiting the 132 meter high church tower. The five Euro entrance fee is definitely worth it, because you get a great view over the Hanseatic city.

A visit to Ugchelen FM DAB+ Radio Broadcast Tower near Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. The tower has a height of 142 meter.
Hoopoe calling from a strangely appropriate perch, a TV aerial. This bird was calling from the roof of the house I was staying in at one point, which was lovely, although I wasn't in a position to photograph it at that time. Luckily it stayed for a few days; maybe if they come back another year I'll catch images of nesting and rearing chicks.
During high-speed travel, especially near the speed of light, everything in the universe would seem to lie in the same place, unseparated and undifferentiated, directly ahead. This bizarre wrinkle comes from the effect of aberration. When we drive through a snowstorm, the flakes seem to come from in front of us, while the rear window hardly gets hit at all. The same thing happens with light. Our planet’s eighteen-miles-per-second motion around the sun causes stars to shift position by several seconds of arc from their actual locations. As we increase our velocity, this effect grows ever more dramatic until at just below lightspeed, the entire contents of the cosmos appear to hover in a single blindingly bright ball, dead ahead.

The station initially broadcast from a tower immediately behind the WEAU studios on South Hastings Way in Eau Claire. A new tower, approximately 1,000 feet (300 m) tall, was built in the same location in 1956 44°39′50″N 90°57′41″W before an approximately 2,000-foot (610 m) tower was constructed near Fairchild in 1966. The tower in Eau Claire is now topped by the digital transmitter of rival ABC affiliate WQOW (channel 18).
The CCTV Headquarters Building in Beijing, designed by Rem Koolhaas and Ole Scheeren of the architectural firm OMA, opened in 2012. This iconic structure serves as the headquarters for China Central Television (CCTV), the country’s national television broadcaster. It houses a variety of facilities, including television studios, offices, and media spaces, and is a key symbol of China’s growing influence in the media and global communications.
One of the most unique features of the CCTV Building is its bold, continuous loop design, which consists of two interconnected towers that form an innovative "crane-like" structure. This distinctive design eliminates the need for traditional support columns, allowing for open and flexible interior spaces. The building’s unusual shape, with its large, cantilevered sections and angular geometry, has made it an architectural landmark in Beijing, representing both China’s modernity and its ambition on the global stage.
Happy Caturday from Broadcast. Named after the very special British band whose lead singer, Trish Keenan experienced an untimely death when she was only in her early 40s. Trish wrote to me before she died and told me how much she liked the photos I had taken of her, which really meant a lot to me.

Happy Caturday everyone! This is my other kitten, Broadcast, who is named after the band of that name. The shelter I adopted PJ Harvey from only adopts kittens in pairs and Broadcast was the meekest and mildest of the bunch.

Main story
There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.
One to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.
The other to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days staring at the shine
quietly.
Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.
I face myself to change tomorrow a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left # how many times did I depend too much on her # doubt her # envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me # a guy filled with ambiguous unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.
Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。
十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

Here in the UK there has been a programme recently broadcast on Channel 4 television called ‘Drag SOS’. Naturally, I will admit I was drawn to watch this due to my own transvestism. I’m not sure quite what I was expecting apart from I assumed it was going to be high camp and full of competitive bitchiness. I have to say I’m not comfortable with such attitudes between drag performers yet I could not resist the pull of the programme title. I braced myself for some truly nasty moments and pressed play…
What followed was one of the kindest and heart-warming programmes I had seen on television in recent years. The Drag Queens, a troupe known as ‘The Family Gorgeous’ were indeed out there but were genuinely lovely and full of empathy and understanding and I felt not only encouraged the people that decided to give drag a go and become a Queen but gave them a huge boost in self esteem. The participants were not what you may expected. The core of the programme was about encouragement, confidence, boosting self esteem, bringing about greater understanding of self and others and full of genuine love. Drag was the vehicle that allowed people to do this, it provided the key to unlock people to be more expressive of themselves and brought them closer to their loved ones.
For me watching it I found it was unlocking me as well, the programme surprised me by giving me new confidence and direction with my own transgender activities. I acknowledge that may all sound rather grand for what was an entertaining yet highly encouraging programme that never gets too deep, though it does have some emotive moments that resonate yet instils positive feelings for the future.
I am not about to become a Drag Queen with a stage act though I’ll admit seeing the participants go for it on stage truly inspired me and I did imagine myself swapping places and daring to push myself as they did. The Drag Queens overseeing the whole process of encouragement and helping people to be open and true to themselves were inspiring. I should clarify this is not simply a coming out film as most of those who take on the opportunity to become a Queen are not (so far) Gay or Transgender, in fact some of them are women with families, it was about all about love and freeing oneself.
The impact of this programme on me was incredibly positive and to my surprise brought about a new feeling of inner peace and resolve. The core message that came from the programmes was unlock yourself and set yourself free, cast off your inhibitions!
I should now explain why I’m posting this video. Firstly, I have previously posted a shorter version of this video here on Flickr. It was within the last year when the maximum running time for a video on Flickr was three minutes. The original edit of the video was five minutes. Running time has now increased to a maximum of ten minutes so this has enabled me to post the original version (I did also post this on my You Tube channel). I’m posting it again as the opening of the video was something I dared myself to do. I did think about editing it out of the video as I was a bit embarrassed and taken aback at what I had done then I thought ‘hang on’ as my usual inhibitions were gaining control so I left it in as the truth is when I filmed the beginning part I was feeling incredibly free about expressing myself. I then go onto my usual store of consciousness musings about my cross-dressing so if you do watch the video you will be sure to be bored. The video was really an indulgent outlet to talk openly about my feelings on my transvestism.
I can see now what I was experiencing on the evening I filmed the video was something that was highlighted in the ‘Drag SOS’ programmes about releasing oneself and casting off a lifetime of inhibition. After watching ‘Drag SOS’ I felt a new inner freedom abut my desire to dress as a woman and enjoying time as my female alter-ego. It’s because I am encouraged and enthused by what came out of the programmes that I am posting the longer version of my video. It felt amazing to appear on camera as a woman and pour out things I have locked up in my head for years and years. As a man I am incredibly strait-laced and full of inhibitions. I am still shocked by my own video! It may not even appear radical to anyone watching it but for me it was really out there!
The video repost here on Flickr is all because of the heart-warming encouragement I witnessed in the Drag SOS programme and I feel grateful to the ‘Queens’ of ‘The Family Gorgeous’ who have given me renewed confidence to express myself more openly in the future; to them I offer a big ‘Thank You!’.

St. Joseph's Cathedral (Vietnamese: Nhà thờ Lớn Hà Nội, Nhà thờ Chính tòa Thánh Giuse; French: Cathédrale Saint-Joseph) is a church on Nha Tho (Church) Street in the Hoàn Kiếm District of Hanoi, Vietnam. Its a late 19th-century Gothic Revival (Neo-Gothic style) church that serves as the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Hanoi to nearly 4 million Catholics in the country.
Construction began in 1886, with the architectural style described as resembling Notre Dame de Paris. The church was one of the first structures built by the French colonial government in Indochina when it opened in December 1886. It is the oldest church in Hanoi.[1]
The cathedral conducts mass several times during the day. For Sunday evening mass at 6:00 PM, large crowds spill out into the streets. The prayer hymns are broadcast and Catholics who are unable to enter the cathedral congregate in the street and listen to hymns.[2]
Built with stone slabs and in brick with concrete facing, the façade consists of two towers, square in shape, rising to a height of 103 ft (31 m) and each tower fitted with five bells.[2][6] The cathedral was built in a Gothic Revival (Neo-Gothic) style.[17] The twin bell towers have often drawn comparisons to the ones at Notre Dame de Paris;[18] the architects of St. Joseph's sought to emulate its Parisian counterpart.[1] The exterior walls of the church are made of granite stone slabs.[19] Over the years, the cathedral's exterior has become severely worn down due to heavy pollution.[15][20]
