Excuse me, but did I say "no more fairies"? No, I meant no more sad fairies, you misunderstood me... ;-) LOL!
Textures used here are from the generous Ghostbones and the one with writing is another free one, but I can't remember where I got it :-( I download so much stuff that I often fail to keep track. I'm so sorry :-( If you see this, let me know who you are! Thank you!
Have a great weekend, folks!

"I'm a coward."
Well, I think that pretty well sums up this lovable old curmudgeon. From 1986's "Labyrinth," here is my Lego version of Hoggle. One day I'll get around to making him some companions in the same scale. Namely Sir Didymus and Ludo.
This build features some custom pieces from some very talented people.

Inspired by Brian Froud's artwork.
Despite the wildly overbaked PSE treatment, the bug is real. I know because it peed on me, and then crawled under my collar and wouldn't go away. EEEEW.
Illustration from "The World of the Dark Crystal" by J. J. Lllewellyn; illustrations by Brian Froud; published by The Jim Hensen Co., a division of Harry Abrams, new York. Book found in thrift store.
Sure, Lady Cottington's were pressed fairies, and these kids are anything but. This is done to be reminiscent of the Cottingley fairies that were part of the famous photographic hoax. However, Brian Froud is cool (the illustrator of the pressed fairies - you might be familiar with his work on films like The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth), so I wanted to title it after his work.
if you're not familiar with the story, you might want to read about the Cottingley fairy hoax here, where you can also view the photographs and decide for yourselves :)
Although there is a Brian Froud website, you can laugh at some of the pressed fairy illustrations here
Rosehip: 'When will I get my wings?'
My dear friend Suzy sent me an amazing present today - a beautiful Brian Fround book. Thank you Suzy! Rosehip and I have loved looking at the beautiful pictures and reading about all the different faeries, but it has made Rosehip wonder where her wings are. I think I may have to make her some.
Strange, stilt-legged rabbit-eared creatures, Landstriders are remarkably docile and intelligent.

I said I wouldn't be doing this any time soon, but the idea was too appealing for me to let it go. This is the first study for a Garthim, the crab-like soldiers from The Dark Crystal. The Garthim in the movie were designed by Brian Froud.
Wow, I made out like a bandit at Goodwill today!!
I found the cute red sandals for just five bucks. They're very comfy :)
I collect Jan Brett's books and I've never seen this one before! All mine for just one dollar :)
But BEST of all, I scored "Faeries!!!!!" I have wanted this book for YEARS and years! It's by Brian Froud and Alan Lee. I've never even see this one in book stores! It was on a bottom shelf of kids books in Goodwill stuck between a Teletubbies book and a Clifford book :)
Oh goodness, the illustrations are so incredible! I think this is a first edition although it's not in prime condition or anything (like I care! haha!) But there are no missing pages, no stains or rips or even creases on the pages! It's as though it's not been read very much at all! The covers have some age spots but that's about it! Amazing :)
It came out in 1978. As with all thrift store stuff it was of course previously owned and in the front of this book someone wrote an inscription:
"For my wonderful husband, on his birthday. Love to you, now and always, your Gypsy Baby. xo
April 1982"
Well, Gypsy Baby, I'm not sure why this book is no longer in the possession of your wonderful husband but this book is MINE, now and always, and for only $2.99!!!
Thanks, Gypsy Baby!!!

posing with my treasured Brian Froud print...
I met my favorite artist at a Dragoncon years ago and he signed and made a little drawing on my print. He also signed several of my books and put a little drawing on each. I gave him a little clay gnome I had made.
Yeeeeeesh, those Gelflings.
