Rennee (skagitrenee) came up with a Valentine's competition representing love. I liked the idea so much that I contributed five works to the contest and decided to try and upload a work a day about love for Valentine's month of February, and this is my 6th February 2025 addition.
You must first teach a child he is loved. Only then is he ready to learn everything else.
Amanda Morgan
Children do not need us to shape them; they need us to respond to who they are.
Naomi Aldort
It’s time we stop buying the lie that we need to be hard on kids because ‘the world is hard.” Love them as hard as you can. That’s what they need.
Tara Vogler
Make the most of today because it is right here. Play that game, sing that song, read one more book, and enjoy those cuddles. Treasure all those precious little moments. Because at the end of your life, you’ll never look back and think, ‘I spent too much time with my kids.
Anon
Raising children who are hopeful and who have the courage to be vulnerable means stepping back and letting them experience disappointment, deal with conflict, learn how to assert themselves, and have the opportunity to fail. If we’re always following our children into the arena, hushing the critics, and assuring their victory, they’ll never learn that they have the ability to dare greatly on their own.
Brene Brown
To love someone is to strive to accept that person exactly the way he or she is.
Fred Rogers
Too much love never spoils our children. Children become spoiled when we substitute presents for presence.
Anthony Withman
Behind every young child who believes in himself is a parent who believed first.
Mathew L. Jacobson
Feeling heard and understood allows children to release the feelings, let go, and move on

I don't have to chase extraordinary moments to find happiness - it's right in front of me if I'm paying attention and practicing gratitude.

" it´s a priority now:
the more troublesome the world looks
the more you have to go inside,
to find out,
where the world comes from
and the one who sees it.
you have to do it!"
(mooji)
Some wisdom from my sister who's a kindergarten teacher: "Every day I ask my students who is going to be my leader who is going to set the good example and not follow bad examples from others."
.
.
When she said this I was blown away it related so much to the book, Daring Greatly that I was reading. It doesn't get any easier when we're adults and instead of following a "norm" of what others are doing we have to be our own leader no matter what others are doing around us. “Do you know what it takes to make an ethical decision in the face of a group of people who are willing to go the other direction? It’s one of the most single vulnerable acts of our lives." - @brenebrown
This ethical decision could be something so simple as practicing kindness over cheap easy cruelty. .
.
I'm glad my sister is teaching her students this concept because: “We need people to be braver, and we need to create a culture that allows for bravery.” -@brenebrown
.
Thanks to @stevierayrosario for your help with this photo 💙
I am always looking for, and to be, daring in the tough times both in and out of work. When challenges come up, I never want to be one to let others stand in the gap, but would rather charge in like a bull in a china shop to help where needed.
What I remember in the pandemics, or any major world trajedy were always the leaders who stepped up to lead- not the leaders who stood up to just talk. There's a difference.

"Fasting Before Surgery" :
If you are planning to have surgery you shouldn’t eat or drink for 8 to 12 hours prior to your action. It is very significant that you should follow these instructions to avoid complexity during and after your surgery.
Actual reasons not to eat or Drink Before Surgery:
1) If your surgery will be a part of your gastrointestinal system, having food in your system could Intricate the surgery and cause the surgery to be canceled.
2) If you have any food or fluid in your stomach during the surgery, you could vomit while under anesthesia. The summation of anesthesia, which could paralyzes the body. This can cause serious complexity, such as pneumonia and difficulty to breathing, which can compromise your saving.
Very important - Your Last food Before Surgery:
Heavy meals, including fried or fatty foods and meat, up to eight hours before surgery.
Have a light meal such as soup and salad for your final meal before surgery. A heavier meal takes longer to digest and negates the effect of prevented from food and drink prior to surgery.

Everyone wants a mother or Father like this...
1. I am thankful for getting the photos from last July to my sister. We went through them over iChat so she could tell me which ones she wanted, we processed them from RAW files to jpg together then I sent them to her while we talked. I don’t like having to choose photos for other people so this was a very delightful thing! :)
2. I am thankful for the various people that came over to check that I was okay while I was laying on the ground taking photos of the water in the park. It is important to me to live in a place where people care about others and go out of their way to enquire. (I’m glad I’m not the only one that asks strangers if they are well. :)
3. I am thankful I use my cellphone as a watch because Mom text messaged me to ask if I was ok .. apparently my ringer has been off a week or so. She also announced that she has retired. She has been thinking about it for a while now and has chosen to take the leap! Exciting that she will begin new adventures!! :) I am wondering how we could celebrate so she can acknowledge the good from working many years and prepare her to embark on her new adventures. Our family hasn’t been very big on celebrating in the past .. perhaps it is time we learned?! This is such a huge step for her .. I have never seen her relax yet. Although I don’t expect or want her to sit on her butt and waste away, I do hope she takes at least five minutes to look at the stars, flowers, inside of her eyelids and whatever else. :) I hope she does artwork too. If you see her be sure to ask her what she is doing for fun?! I am hoping she begins her first childhood! :)
4. I am thankful Charlotte was over for a short visit and pick-up a few things for her work and art practise. I’m glad she enjoyed the photos I took of the art work she had at MacKenzie Art Gallery this past spring.
5. I am thankful my favourite nephew finally received his birthday presents! I trust some of them made him laugh and I hope the original artwork is okay for him. I am definitely thankful I finally put what I wanted to communicate to him into new artwork AND found my courage to send it to him. Hooray! :)
6. I am thankful I was asked about my list sounding like things are going simply fabulous for me because it felt really great to say out loud that this is a gratitude list not a complain-about-what-sucks list (that is a different list altogether)! Saying that out loud made me laugh! :) I am doubly glad that the person I said that to has a similar sense of humour. (Thanks Kid - hope you had a really great supper with your friend! :)
7. I am thankful I planted my very own garden in my very own land! Yes, the land is in a rubbermaid container and the garden currently consists of Sweetpeas, beans and deer-tongue lettuce but I made the soil and the garden myself! I used this gardening video for how to build my container garden. It was also good to use empty peanut butter jars as the containers below the soil because with all my empties I am beginning to think I have a peanut butter problem .. but now they have a purpose and no one knows about the empties! :) The thing that got me going on making my own garden was Michael Rad’s question.
8. I am thankful I have a compost bin again! Oh how I missed it! The corn cobs crumbled nicely into compost but the peach and nectarine pits where all still whole. I also learned that I really like peaches and nectarines when I was transferring the compost to my new garden.
9. I am thankful I replanted the tiny aloe vera plant I received from a friend a few years ago. I now have five Aloe vera plants. I would have thirteen but ran out of soil. If you have a place for a new flowering aloe vera plant and we can arrange to get it to you, you just let me know! (assuming it survives the re-potting) I also made an adjustment to the off-spring of the white violet named Prisilla .. or maybe it was Lisa-Marie that I adjusted? Anyway, she seems to have perked up. I find it kind of odd that I only name my violets. By the way, I didn’t name Prisilla, she came with that name. It does suit her though because her leaves are scalloped and she has white scalloped leafed flowers.
10. I am thankful for the times that I make a spelling mistake when I am writing and it turns out to be the perfect word such as live/love or like/live.
11. I am thankful for beginning to read Brene Brown’s I thought it was just me because it is helping to put some things in perspective and understand why some things appear they way they do about human interaction. (Note that the exact title and book jacket depend on what country you are in.) I really enjoyed her talks I have found and wanted to learn more. Some difficult stuff but useful.
12. Other media I enjoyed this week were the movie The Legend of Bagger Vance and the book Extremely loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer. I plan to go through both of them again before I return them to the library. I had begun listening to Safran Foer’s novel while I was making bread and became so enthralled with it that I processed all of Brene Brown’s book that evening so I could listen to it. (Then finished discs 9 and 10 of Safran Foer’s novel the next day.)
Thank you, enjoy your week.
Yep, that's me. Took a picture, printed it on a quick setting, glued it and played with some paint. The direction was to write "I am imperfect and that is enough." I prefer to think of perfection as the journey though, not a static egoistic version of perfectionism...so as I strive to be my authentic divinely perfect self, I AM perfect right now and how that shows up humanly IS indeed enough...ahhhh. Perfection is simply progress. Amen!
I know it is a big #buzz word, but let's not overlook the importance of being #brave. #brenébrown #bee #thejennuinearticle
