A mile+ long sheet of 4' thick ice squeezing past a place where the river channel is 100'+/- too narrow.
This bench on the Bancroft steps has become part of Berkeley lore. Due to its discreet location, and appearance of privacy it is a spot where couples frequently come to breakup, the audio of which echoes up the steps and into the surrounding houses.
