Last of the ice breaking away from the shoreline

This bench on the Bancroft steps has become part of Berkeley lore. Due to its discreet location, and appearance of privacy it is a spot where couples frequently come to breakup, the audio of which echoes up the steps and into the surrounding houses. People without homes also frequently use it as a space to sleep, and students regularly use it as an outdoor space to drink, leaving bottles and other detritus. -Sarah Noble-Spangaro
