The visitor centers in the American southwest desert parks offer a little introductory movie, and they all begin with "millions of years ago there was a vast inland sea...", which was home to any number of marine life forms. Then the landmasses collided and with other geologic events, the ocean floor was uplifted and the water receded.
Or so they thought.
One day when out walking in Az, I saw this on the sidewalk.
The head of the whale had just breached the crust of the pavement, the little fish was already merrily flitting over the foamy briny.
I had my iPhone with me and the good fortune to document this ground breaking event which will force science to reexamine what it has long believed about the earth.
The sea is still here under our city streets and sidewalks!!
As the Nobel prize winning physicist Max Planck once indicated, science advances one funeral at a time.
I'm hearing a funeral dirge.
I'll let you know if I win the Nobel Prize.

When I looked at the photo on my Mac at home it did not look as dark as it does here on my job computer. Difficult with different screens which are not calibrated...
Well anyway, it was a lovely evening :)
Taking a little spring break from my city shots to post everything blooming right now...I just couldn't resist!! :))
Mile marker 203, the gas gauge leanin' on the edge of "E",
An' I'll be dang'd if the rain ain't pourin' down.
There's somethin' smokin' underneath the hood,
It's a-bangin' and a-clangin' an' it can't be good,
An' it's another fifty miles to the nearest town.
Everythin' I own's in the back in a hefty bag;
I'm outta cigarettes an' I'm down to my last drag.
I'd sure hate to break down here,
Nothin' up ahead or in the rear view mirror.
Out in the middle of nowhere, knowin'.
I'm in trouble if these wheels stop rollin'.
So, God help me, keep me movin' somehow.
Don't let me start wishin' I was with him now.
I made it this far without cryin' a single tear.
I'd sure hate to break down here.

13 Everyday Phrases That Actually Came From Shakespeare

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️❤️❤️
So, this is about five minutes before the previous shot. The sun is breaking through the clouds, burning off the mist in the valley, clearing the air. I started trying this composition a few times before I moved on to a modified version of this in the other photo. The mountains in the morning are amazing, and I am beginning to see potentials for this...Sunrise photography as much as I love Sunsets these are a very different feeling. As I learn more tricks, and editing techniques I will continue improving the quality of these, give me a shout out if you have comments, questions or critiques!

I am really starting to think filters are just a requirement for serious landscape photography.

Thanks Dag for always sharing the best places! You're the best!
Sorry I don't have time to visit right now, but I'll be back soon to comment on your fabulous photos. Too much on my plate at present! I miss you all!!
... well composition wise! Going agains the rule of thirds and getting the sun dead centre but sometimes rules need to be broken! Lockdown rules sadly have to be obeyed and we are still not allowed to see family nor travel. Can't wait for lockdown to ease!

When dawn breaks in my part of the Welsh countryside the lanes are free of traffic, the sun begins to rise lighting up the sky and bird song fills the air. The cries of a Red Kite hovering above a field hoping a mouse will make a mad dash for the safety of a hedgerow. The rustling of grass blowing gently in the breeze, the crispness of the Autumn air, oh what a time to be alive and take in the wonders that surround us!
