I used to go swimming here a lot with my friends, but now i hardly ever go because i am afraid after the tsunami. Also very few children swim now for this reason.
When i took this picture two children had gone for a swim and to ride in this small boat and were pulling it up to the beach afterwards.

It is the weekend when children swim in the breakwater. Earlier, children were afraid to go swimming but now it has changed. These moments make them forget the tragedy of the Tsunami and show them that their lives are recovering.

The first time the British Red Cross gave me a grant i bought some fuel. After six months of selling fuel, I bought the truck. I got it six months ago. I have been in business a year now.

This is Andi, my nephew. I took this picture for remeberance. I do not have a mother or father now after the tsunami. I now only have my sister and nephews. This is my closest family now.
His mother put the sunglasses on him. He is a bit naughty and it is funny with him wearing glasses. It also reminds me of my other nephew who was one-year-old when he died in the tsunami. I was holding him when the wave came and i lost him.

This is a memorial for the tsunami and when people see this they remember. In the picture is my granddaughter, who lost her stepbrother and brother in the tsunami, both aged 14 years.

It is a very innocent cow, very safe and everyone can play with her everyday. I took a picture of my brother. He can get on it and ride it. My brother sees her twice a day. It is a calf, aged six months. My brother is five years old and called Dimudu Dinesh. My brother loves the cow very much. Her name is Suddhi, which means White lady.

These were the rice fields but they cannot be used anymore and i wanted to capture this. Before the tsunami we did not have to buy rice. Nown we have to. There have been discussions with the men here to possibly clean the rice fields and it is hoped they will start to clear them next month.

My family built this building up in the hill the second day after the tsunami. We were up here five nights. On the sixth day we were rescued by a boat owner who took us to Banda.
There were 12 people with us and we shared the shelter. It is special for me because it is the place where i stayed with my family after the tsunami. At first it was only my family here but it was not long before many other families came to shelter with us.
