Evening view of Bratislava from the other side of the Danube, I don't remember if this one was taken under an umbrella, but my 5 year long golden luck with the weather finally expired during this trip, the weather was dreadful more often than not, it may not be obvious on the uploads, but it was definitely the least productive trip for the length in 5 years.

The SNP Bridge over the Danube
Most SNP is an asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge with a main span length of 303 m (994 ft), a total length of 430.8 m (1,413 ft), a width of 21 m (69 ft), and a weight of 537 t (592 short tons). Its steel construction is suspended from steel cables, connected on the Petržalka side to two pillars. There are four lanes for motor traffic on the upper level and bicycle and pedestrian lanes on the lower level. It is a member of The World Federation of Great Towers
The bridge was built between 1967 and 1972 under a project managed by A. Tesár, J. Lacko, and I. Slameň. It officially opened on August 26, 1972. A significant section of the Old Town below which included nearly all of the Jewish quarter, was demolished to create the roadway that led to it. On the other hand, the bridge improved access between Petržalka and the rest of the city. Parts of the historic city walls were unearthed during construction.

Bratislava (formerly Slovak: Prešporok; German: Pressburg or Preßburg; Latin: Posonium; Hungarian: Pozsony; Serbian: Пожун, Požun) is the capital of Slovakia, and with a population of about 500,000, the country's largest city. While its metropolitan area is home to more than 650,000 people. Bratislava is in southwestern Slovakia, occupying both banks of the River Danube and the left bank of the River Morava. Bordering Austria and Hungary, it is the only national capital that borders two independent countries.
Bratislava Castle is the main castle of Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. The massive rectangular building with four corner towers stands on an isolated rocky hill of the Little Carpathians, directly above the Danube river, in the middle of Bratislava. Because of its size and location, it has been a dominant feature of the city for centuries.

Vom 05.12.2025 bis 06.01.2026 verkehrte wieder die traditionelle Weihnachtsringlinie auf der Strecke Jesenského – Námestie SNP – Kapucínska – Chatam Sófer – Jesenského.
Zum Einsatz kommt auf dieser Linie seit 2020 hauptsächlich der K2G- TW 7085, während der wesentlich aufwändiger dekorierte T2 215 nur noch an wenigen Betriebstagen eingesetzt wird.
Am 03.01.2026 passiert TW 7085 kurz vor der Haltestelle Most SNP die Bratislavaer Burg.

at the Marlborough Jazz Festival 2015
The Bratislava Hot Serenaders orchestra belongs to the list of the few strictly “early jazz” oriented bands in the world. The band’s 20 enthusiastic musicians have played together without interruption since the formation of the group in season 1991/1992. Their playing adheres to the sound, style, and feel of such orchestras as Paul Whiteman, Jean Goldkette, and Duke Ellington, in addition to featuring Czech, Slovak, and other European classic jazz tunes of the period. The Bratislava Hot Serenaders are well established outside of Slovakia. In 1994 the orchestra won the Sidney d´Or Prix at the Grand Festival of Music of 20´s and 30´s in Saint Raphael, France. They regularly appear in concert, and at festivals both in their home country of Slovakia and abroad.
In 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018 the band toured the U.K., performing at the Marlborough Jazz Festival, Edinburgh Jazz Festival and Glasgow Vintage Festival to name but a few.

Deze fraaie locs kwamen vanaf 1968 in dienst. Je ziet ze nog wat meer in Slovakije dan in Tsjechië. Daar rijden ze voornamelijk goederentreinen.
