Conquer Candida, Beat the Flu, Strengthen Your Immune System and Prevent Early Aging with Advanced Home Enemas

You’ve Never Brushed Your Teeth Before?!?

Imagine for a moment what the inside of your mouth would look like if you had never brushed your teeth.

Its kind of a frightening thought, isn’t it?!

Learn why brushing your teeth isn’t the only important hygiene practice to adopt and how learning to do home enemas can help you beat infections, strengthen your immune system, slow the aging process…. and even improve your smile.

You’ve Never Brushed Your Teeth Before?!?

Imagine for a moment what the inside of your mouth would look like if you had never brushed your teeth. Its kind of a frightening thought, isn’t it?!

And yet that is the reality for most people… except it’s even worse than that.

You see, our intestinal lining is basically identical to the skin lining inside our mouths, and if we had never brushed our teeth, our mouths would be covered in a tough yellow and white lining of fungus and yeast, as well as many other colorful bacteria colonies.

This is exactly the case in millions of people’s colons across America and the world, because in modern times, the simple practices that maintain basic levels of colon hygiene are mostly ignored and overlooked.

But this wasn’t always the case.

Around the turn of 1900, enemas were considered a foundation for recovery from almost any illness, and an enema or colonic was one of the first procedures performed in hospitals across the United States, and throughout the developed world.

Enemas had been widely used throughout the world for thousands of years before they were standard procedure in US hospitals around the turn of the century.

The phrase “good health resides in the gut” dates back to Hippocrates in ancient Greece, who is known as the Father of Medicine., and modern science now provides ample evidence to support his hypothesis.

Cutting-edge research into the Human Microbiome shows many direct connections between our intestinal health and brain function, mood & emotional state, energy levels and general immune response.

Due to the widespread use of pharmaceutical antibiotics in modern times, this simple and effective practice has fallen almost entirely out of custom. I especially find it ironic that enemas are not even practiced in hospitals and clinic for acute and chronic intestinal infections, when this would clearly be the best way to “apply directly” to an infection, and the more convenient, yet highly problematic solution of broad-spectrum pharmaceutical antibiotics, is almost always prescribed instead.

So to my mind it seems clear that we have allowed our value for convenience to override our need for both safety and effectiveness. In the quest for convenience, we have become dependent on harmful pharmaceutical drugs and have lost touch with the classical knowledge of how to combat illness our selves.

Based on my research and experience, I strongly believe that regularly practicing home enemas is an essential component of effective personal hygiene, just like regularly brushing one’s teeth. Really its even more important than brushing our teeth, because our mouth is not where the primary foundation of our health and wellness resides.

Perhaps its simply because we can see inside our mouths so easily that we focus so much on keeping our mouths clean and our teeth well brushed. Then this same logic would then make it very easy to ignore cleaning our colon. But just because we can’t see inside our colon doesn’t mean it’s not extremely important to keep clean!

You know, it’s a sort of like cleaning the back corners of your fridge. It can be all too easy to ignore, but if you don’t clean it regularly then you will eventually have something rotting in there. This will not only make your whole fridge stink, but it will also affect all of the food in your fridge as the rotting bacteria spreads. And the exact same thing is true inside your colon.

Feeling the need to do something different.

Trying to keep the photography fresh is not always easy, during the season, working seven days a week it's all to tempting to take the easy option, a summer of challenging myself is needed to keep the brain functioning after 10 hours of the hotel business each day.

Oh God, have I just set myself another goal! Damn.

VA’s annual Brain Trust summit offers platform for innovations in brain health and head trauma

From a software platform for traumatic brain injury to a virtual reality device that assists Veterans with behavioral health issues, 15 competitors pitched a diversity of ideas during demo day at the Brain Trust: Pathways to InnoVAtion summit, hosted by VA on May 18 in Boston. The annual two-day event assembled more than 350 invited participants from the federal government, private industry, professional sports, medical research, caregivers and Veteran communities to collaborate and advance discussions around the prevention and treatment of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and concussion. “We have an unbelievable opportunity to accelerate the speed of change,” said retired Army Lt. Gen. Patricia Horoho, CEO of Optum Military and Veterans Group, to the 15 industry and academic innovators who had come to pitch their ideas on TBI and head trauma to a panel of judges. “Today, the impossible gets challenged.”After reviewing a series of short presentations from competitors, the judges selected three winners: The Daptly Display, a gesture and voice-controlled assistant for the home or office; Save a Warrior: A peer-to-peer, archetypal approach for healing combat trauma and moral injury; and Recovery Acceleration Program for mild TBI by King-Devick Technologies. The winners will have the potential opportunity to implement and deploy their innovations with VA. “We feel incredibly honored to be selected as a winner of the VA Innovation awards, which will further our opportunity to provide services to our Veterans,” said Steve Devick, CEO of King-Devick Technologies, who explained how his project would help Veterans impacted by TBI. “The King-Devick technologies innovations are related to the fact that eye movements and vision are responsible for approximately 55 percent of brain function. “As a result, implementing our recovery acceleration program by involving these pathways leads to faster concussions and TBI recovery when used with standard remediation. Additionally, caregivers can measure defects in eye movements, which may lead to dosage changes in chronic degenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease. ” During the event, VA officials announced key partnerships with several influential organizations, including: Amazon, which donated 100 Echo devices with Alexa voice service to VA’s Assistive Technology Labs to help meet the needs of Veterans; Cohen Veterans Bioscience, which is coordinating efforts with VA to integrate data across dozens of labs to facilitate breakthroughs in trauma-related disorders; Booz Allen Hamilton; Comcast; Concussion Legacy Foundation; GE; IBM; Infinite Hero Foundation; Johnson & Johnson; Optum; Outward Bound; PenFed Foundation, Philips; the Warrior Care Network and the National Institutes of Health, which is co-hosting a ‘State of the Science’ workshop in 2018 that will focus on Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy and other neurodegenerative diseases. Refik Anadol’s latest project on the materiality of remembering. Melting Memories will offer new insights into the representational possibilities emerging from the intersection of advanced technology and contemporary art. By showcasing several interdisciplinary projects that translate the elusive process of memory retrieval into data collections, the exhibition will immerse visitors in Anadol’s creative vision of “recollection.”

“Science states meanings; art expresses them,” writes American philosopher John Dewey and draws a curious distinction between what he sees as the principal modes of communication in both disciplines. In Melting Memories, Refik Anadol’s expressive statements provide the viewer with revealing and contemplative artworks that will generate responses to Dewey’s thesis.

Comprising data paintings, augmented data sculptures and light projections, the project as a whole debuts new advances in technology that enable visitors to experience aesthetic interpretations of motor movements inside a human brain. Each work grows out of the artist’s impressive experiments with the advanced technology tools provided by the Neuroscape Laboratory at the University of California, San Francisco. Neuroscape is a neuroscience center focusing on technology creation and scientific research on brain function of both healthy and impaired individuals. Anadol gathers data on the neural mechanisms of cognitive control from an EEG (electroencephalogram) that measures changes in brain wave activity and provides evidence of how the brain functions over time. These data sets constitute the building blocks for the unique algorithms that the artist needs for the multi-dimensional visual structures on display.

Anadol’s installations do not only address a productive espousal of cutting-edge technology and art but also a strong preoccupation with the study of human memory from Ancient Egyptians to Blade Runner 2049. The exhibition’s title, Melting Memories, refers to the artist’s experience with unexpected interconnections among seminal philosophical works, academic inquiries and artworks that take memory as their principal themes. The title further draws attention to the melting of neuroscience and technology into these centuries-long philosophical debates, questioning the emergence of a new space where artificial intelligence is not in conflict with individuality and intimacy

Refik Anadol is a media artist and director born in Istanbul, Turkey in 1985. Currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California. As a media artist, designer and spatial thinker, Refik Anadol is intrigued by the ways in which the transformation of the subject of contemporary culture requires rethinking of the new aesthetic, technique and dynamic perception of space.

Influenza-R10

A hybrid virus of influenza and rabies. Government scientists created it for biological warfare purposes. The rabies has been mutated in the labs, speeding upm its incubation period and intensifiying its symptons. The influenza was added to make the virus contagious. Flu-R10 is the tenth strand of this virus, the successful strand.

The Infected

Once the virus has been taken in, it incubates for up to a few days. During that time, the person will feel no different than normal. Changes will soon occur. It beigns with lethargy and moodiness. The skin will subtly change hues, varying from person to person, and infected will prematurely wrinkle. In some cases, the skin has even hardened to an exo0skeletal shell. Infected will slowly loose all upper brain functions, eventually ,oosing the ability to talk and thoughts will become ones of rage. Infected are ferocious, their neuro receptors will shut down the infected persons ability to know when enough is enough. Diet will change to a strictly carnivorous one, the infected wanting dead human flesh.

The virus cannot animate the dead, and the infected are easily killed with conventional means, i.e, bullets.

Animal Equality released disturbing scenes of animal suffering filmed at a Simmons Farm Raised Catfish slaughterhouse located in Yazoo City, Mississippi. Simmons, which kills 21,000 fish catfish per day (animals who are raised in the company’s intensive confinement ponds), is one of the largest USDA inspected catfish slaughterhouses in the U.S

. The fish slaughtered by the company go to national restaurant chains Cracker Barrel and Captain D’s, as well as grocery stores Kroger, Save A Lot, and Piggly Wiggly.

PROLONGED SUFFERING: The investigation revealed fish kept out of water for prolonged periods—up to an hour—before they were finally beheaded. While fish pass through an electrical stunning device during processing, many regain mobility and begin gasping and moving their fins long before they are finally decapitated. Rejected catfish, mudfish, and turtles were removed from production lines and placed in buckets without water. Later they are placed onto a conveyor and transported to a macerator where they were ground up alive.

ILLEGAL ANIMAL ABUSE: Our investigator filmed disturbing scenes, including serious legal violations. Hidden-camera footage and eyewitness statements reveal:

- Hundreds of catfish regularly left out of water to slowly suffocate while workers went on breaks

- Conscious fish beheaded

- Turtles and rejected bycatch fish placed in buckets to be later ground up alive and, according to one employee, used as feed for Simmons’ still-growing catfish

- A turtle thrown onto a moving conveyor carrying severed catfish heads and then desperately trying to crawl in the opposite direction as they were carried towards the macerator

- Undersized, deformed, and parasite-scarred fish left alive in bins without water on the slaughter floor for hours

WHAT WE’RE SAYING: "Every day at Simmons’ slaughterhouse, thousands of catfish and countless other animals suffer,” said Sharon Núñez, President of Animal Equality. “Our investigation revealed persistent violations of Mississippi state law. Charges must be brought against Simmons to stop the ongoing abuse."

CALLS FOR CHARGES: We submitted evidence to the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office and County Prosecutor, detailing violations of Mississippi’s animal cruelty laws documented during the month-long investigation, including severe violations of the statutory prohibition on needless mutilations and cruel manners of “carrying” or “conveyance,” such as upon the conveyor equipment.

Mississippi law states that any person who is responsible for the care and handling of “living creatures,” including fish, may not cause those animals to be tortured or tormented, nor deprived of necessary sustenance (such as oxygen), whether by reason of intentional cruelty or mere neglectfulness. In causing hundreds of fish each day to be subjected to such treatment, Animal Equality maintains that Simmons management and owners should be held criminally liable under Mississippi anti-cruelty law.

FALSE ADVERTISING: Contrary to the investigator’s findings, Simmons claimed the fish are processed “within 30 minutes” and in a “swift [and] sterile” manner. Animal Equality filed complaints with state attorneys general in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee, alleging that Simmons's false and misleading claims about its products and production practices constitute unfair or deceptive trade practices under those states’ consumer protection laws. In response, Simmons agreed to remove from its website the claim that the fish are processed “within 30 minutes.”

Animal Equality has filed complaints with state attorneys general in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee, alleging that Simmons's false and misleading claims about its products and production practices constitute unfair or deceptive trade practices under those states’ consumer protection laws.

After slaughter, the dead catfish are inspected by the USDA and then go on to supply restaurants, grocery stores, and foodservice companies. Although Simmons’ products bear the federal agency’s official seal, there is no federal law mandating the humane slaughter of fish, so USDA inspectors do not monitor for animal cruelty.

FISH FEEL PAIN: Definitive scientific evidence details the ability and scope of fishes’ ability to experience pain and distress and, in particular, the difficulty of rendering them insensible during slaughter. A study published last year on the effects of commercial stunning methods on the brain function of catfish reviewed the ineffectiveness of electrical stunning. The study determined that catfish regain sensibility from a two-second stun within 30 seconds, and recover from a 10-second stun after 1.7 to 4.9 minutes. When catfish, like those at Simmons, are allowed to recover from the stun, they experience avoidable fear, anxiety, pain, suffering, and distress during their deaths.

HOW YOU CAN HELP: In addition to requesting that charges be filed against Simmons for animal cruelty violations, we are also asking for federal legislation that would protect fish under the Humane Methods of Slaughter Act, as aquatic animals are currently excluded from the Act’s protections. To that end, we have created a petition asking Congress to act. Please, let your voice be heard on behalf of these animals and add your names to those asking our representatives to prevent fish from being killed while still fully conscious. You can also make a difference for fish by sharing this investigation and leaving them off your plate. With your support, we can help these suffering animals and ensure future generations do not have to face the same brutal fate.

The Black Sleep (1956)

dai.ly/x14wrtw Full Feature on Daily motion

England, 1872. The night before he is to be hanged for a murder he did not commit, young Dr. Gordon Ramsey is visited in his cell by his old mentor, eminent surgeon Sir Joel Cadmund. Cadmund offers to see that Ramsey gets a proper burial and gives him a sleeping powder to get him through the night, which Ramsey takes, unaware it is really an East Indian drug, "nind andhera" ("the black sleep"), which induces a deathlike state of anesthesia. Pronounced dead in his cell, he is turned over to Cadmund, who promptly revives him and takes him to his home in a remote abbey. Cadmund explains he believes Ramsey is innocent and needs his talents to help him in an project, which he is reluctant to immediately discuss further. In fact, Cadmund's wife lies in a coma from a deep-seated brain tumor, and he is attempting to find a safe surgical route to its site by experimenting on the brains of others, whom Ramsey comes to learn are alive during the process, anesthetized by the "black sleep", and are taken to a hidden recovery room in the abbey from which few emerge, though they still live...

- Written by Rich Wannen

Old-fashioned as it is, however, The Black Sleep still gets the job done at least as well as most of the movies to which it hearkens back. Most notably, it crystallized a vague sense I’ve had for some time now that it’s too bad Rathbone got pigeonholed so early on as Sherlock Holmes. He had a commanding elegance about him akin to that later displayed by Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, and which nobody else on the 30’s and 40’s horror scene could match. Lionel Atwill and John Carradine came close on occasion, but Atwill was always a little too foppish and Carradine a little too homespun to play the depraved Old World nobleman with Rathbone’s authority; neither of them would have been up to the challenge of Tower of London’s Richard III, for example. As Joe Cadman, Rathbone simultaneously prefigures the Cushing Frankenstein, and hints at all the brilliant mad movie scientists that might have been if only Rathbone hadn’t been so busy chasing Nazi agents all over the English moors during the years of the second Hollywood horror boom. He might even have injected some unwonted class into a Monogram or PRC production! The rest of the cast doesn’t quite match up to the top-billed star, but most of those who are required to do any actual acting (which is to say, not Tor Johnson, Bela Lugosi, or Lon Chaney Jr.) acquit themselves respectably well. Another thing The Black Sleep does right is to incorporate a bit of defensible real-world science into the mad variety more familiar from movies of its type. Much of the film’s horror stems from the certainty that attempting such delicate neurological investigations with the clumsy and invasive techniques of the late 19th century really would produce monstrous derangement's of brain function, even if these specific symptoms (John Carradine’s character is convinced that he’s Bohemond of Taranto— the hell?) are not always especially plausible. Finally, Udo the Gypsy, who in most horror films of this era would be nothing but a comic relief character, is portrayed in much too sinister a light to become as irritating as one might anticipate. His clowning creates more unease than anything else, for it is plainly but a cover for a complete absence of conscience. All in all, The Black Sleep represents a commendable effort to bring some seriousness of purpose back into the gothic mad scientist movie, which had grown silly enough on its own over the years that it hadn’t really needed Abbott and Costello to poke fun at it.

You’ve Never Brushed Your Teeth Before?!?

Melting Memories offered new insights into the representational possibilities emerging from the intersection of advanced technology and contemporary art. By showcasing several interdisciplinary projects that translate the elusive process of memory retrieval into data collections, the exhibition immersed visitors in Anadol’s creative vision of “recollection.”

The title further draws attention to the melting of neuroscience and technology into these centuries-long philosophical debates, questioning the emergence of a new space where artificial intelligence is not in conflict with individuality and intimacy.

So far, June 24, 2007 is still looking like the date where everything changed. 2007 was meh in a lot of ways. It is the wisdom of time that tells me that for $300, some asshole thief taught me an important life lesson.

Had I tried to keep going on the course I had been taking, I would, sooner or later, end up a failure. It was not a sustainable path. It was a spiral downward. Spending the time between winter of 2007 and spring of 2008 without a bike, moping about it, taught me a valuable lesson. One that I didn't need to hit rock bottom to learn.

It turns out that I can't legally drive at the moment. It's a silly DMV thing. My license expired on my birthday. I think I remembered that and assumed I'd get some paperwork in the mail from the DMV, but I never did. So I looked at my license when I was picking up a package from the UPS depot and realized it was expired. And, you know what, I'm a shitty liar. I couldn't feign surprise when pulled over. I'd get slapped with a ticket for driving without a license for sure.

And, you know what? It's not critically important. It's one of those "Gee, I should get this done fairly soon" sort of things. Priorities have been rearranged. I could likely go for quite some time without a car or even without use of a car.

Ursula might add that she got a little bit of life-changing events on the bicycle some years ago. As in, got hit by a car while cycling and her pelvic bone hasn't been the same since. And, somehow, I realize that I'd have spiraled down into suicidal depression in due course on the old path, so even if I do get hit, I'll have lived a better, longer, and more complete life than I had were I to have never ridden a bike.

Mostly, I worry about getting hit but not finding justice. I'm taking all of the reasonable rational precautions to avoid getting hit and the statistics show that, once you discard stupidity, cycling is actually fairly safe. It's just that there are a number of hit-and-run accidents that have gone without at-fault drivers being brought to justice.

Just because you didn't realize you made a choice doesn't mean that you ended up making one. I'm not entirely pleased with the photos I took in 2009. I didn't give them quite enough time and care. But I didn't waste my year. Cycling time came somewhat at the expense of photo time. So, instead, I biked 3811 miles. I went from somebody who avoided long hills because I'd end up walking part of the way to somebody who has been shaving minutes off his hill climbs. I biked over the mountain to the Pacific ocean and back.

This year is when people started asking me where all the fat went. I have a new minion overseas and he was expecting a chubby nerd based on the picture in the corporate phonebook and was then surprised to see a much better proportioned nerd instead. Everybody tells me I look much healthier... and I am... but I was actually doing really well when I was only at the 5-10% weight loss point and still bulged out of a form-fitting cycling jersey. You don't need to be skinny to be healthy, but you do need to be active.

One of my co-workers referred to my present lifestyle as a "health kick" and wondered why I was skipping out on my usual giant salad for a few slices of greasy pizza. It's not a health kick, it's the way things have to be from now on. And the nice part about my diet is that I get to eat exactly what I love to eat... it's just that I really like having a giant salad around lunchtime, so everybody assumes that's what I'm eating... which completely ignores the lamb and potatoes that's waiting in the fridge for when I get hungry in a few hours.

There's some research out that suggests that cardio health leads to improved brain functioning. I believe it. There's at least one substantial raise to be credited almost directly to the improved brainpower that cycling brings.

We, as a people, have been too stupid to realize that we've been making decisions. The people on the right trumpet how somebody hacked into a server and found some emails that suggest that there might be some back-room infighting going on in the climate change thing. The people on the left think that if we just make biodiesel and windmills, somehow this will magically solve problems. Oh, and my favorite, carbon sequesterization. When we have a good containment leak from a carbon sequesterization facility, it's going to make Chernobyl look like a walk in the park. Ever hear about Lake Nyos? It let off a cloud of CO2 that killed 1700 people and that was a drop in the bucket compared to what they are proposing to store underground.

I might have listed leaving a job that wasn't working out anymore as the important date. Or going on some magical medication that would make me effective and content member of society. Or maybe even a really good drug trip or a soap-making alter ego pouring lye on my forearm. But the real change was a decision that changed the flow of my life, where I was able to make a giant decision without realizing what I had just decided that pulled me away from a downward spiral.

The funny thing about finishing a jigsaw is that when you try to jam a bunch of random pieces together, you won't get anywhere. Only when you fit the pieces properly together will you see the beautiful picture. And you may not want to hear this, but with the CO2 levels ever increasing and traffic gridlock getting worse and worse until there's literally nothing that you can do in many places to improve throughput, a lot of you people are jamming a bunch of jumbled puzzle pieces together. It's only until you start making connections that you realize that everything fits together quite well and the car, the piece you thought was most important, is actually a tiny insignificant piece off in the corner.

I think it's unfair to all of the progress we did make in 2000-2009 to call it a "lost decade". It might be a prelude to a great decade. Or it might be the beginning of the end. It's a choice that we collectively can make.

I did go on a nice hike with Mrs. Wirehead this afternoon through the forest. Then we had sushi and then we watched Avatar. I think Avatar was even more mindblowing when watched shortly after a nice jaunt through the forest. I watched it in 2D on a normal screen because I've got a lazy eye and therefore do not benefit from the 3D glasses... and think that IMAX should only cover films that have been shot on 70mm x 15 perf film (or, to be fair, an equivalent resolution digital sensor) and displayed with a 70mm x 15 perf projector. Not a film delivered in 2k or 35mm film and upscaled.

The same apparatus is used to test monkeys at their National Center for Toxicological Research lab. Read this FDA Consumer Update to learn more.

Soviet Nuclear Operations Unit

In the 23rd Century, an underground network of Soviet scientists and commandos came to together to form SNOU. The SNOU has developed a deadly task force, known as the непреодолимая сила (Superior Force). These men have been through heavy radioactive genetic treatments, enhancing their strength, agility, and brain function. What these men are capable of is unknown by any outsiders. Deaths of many nuclear scientists in the Middle East have been reported, and are said that the SNOU is responsible. An escaped man who was being genetically experimented on had said "Be warned! The SNOU will strike!" before his cells began mutating as he killed himself.

Their power is unknown. Beware .

From February 7 through March 17, 2018, Pilevneli Gallery presented Refik Anadol’s latest project on the materiality of remembering.

The title further draws attention to the melting of neuroscience and technology into these centuries-long philosophical debates, questioning the emergence of a new space where artificial intelligence is not in conflict with individuality and intimacy.

PROCESS

Data collection process utilized a 32-channel Enobio and standard protocol configuration. Participants were instructed to focus on specific childhood memories during the recording process. A control recording was also conducted to identify artifacts to later filter with adaptive notch filtering and limiting the frequency range. For analysis we focused on beta (13-17Hz) and theta (3-7Hz) channels, isolating activation points corresponding to short term and long-term (specifically episodic) memory. Our selections were the Fp1, Fp2, F7, F8, P3, P4, C3, C4, T7, T8, O1, and O2 nodes, which were also used to drive noise parameters within the real-time simulation. For scaling we applied Higuchi’s fractal dimension algorithm and used FFT for a moving average. Recurrent neural nets (via EEGLearn) we used on the recording sessions to generate spectral outputs, which were then utilized as height maps for the visual representation pipeline.

Bashivan, et al. "Learning Representations from EEG with Deep Recurrent-Convolutional Neural Networks." International conference on learning representations (2016)

Transposing EEG data in to procedural noise forms was a really engaging challenge, both technically and conceptually. In the input data and our mapped representation you can find recurrence and rhythm but also hints of higher dimensional structures. We wanted to do this efficiently and in real time and so working on Melting Memories dovetailed nicely with putting the last touches on FieldTrip, an (at the time pre-release) open source GPU library for HLSL/vvvv. It allowed us to use a composite design pattern to very quickly iterate while producing the aesthetic structures used in the project. This approach enabled us to really explore some deeper procedural functions whilst keeping a completely modular graphics pipeline. This modularity makes it easy and clean to expand on the project’s abstracted content in really interesting ways, such as further integration of machine learning on the source data, evolving rendering techniques

and the creation of sculpted physical artifacts.

From February 7 through March 17, 2018, Pilevneli Gallery presented Refik Anadol’s latest project on the materiality of remembering.

Transposing EEG data in to procedural noise forms was a really engaging challenge, both technically and conceptually.

Web-savvy 55-76 year-olds show as much as twice the brain activation in areas associated with decision making and reasoning as technologically-challenged individuals when searching online.

Neural activation is higher when performing online activities than reading a book, leading the authors of the study to conclude that Googling may help exercise and improve brain function

The Chernobyl Nuclear reactor Explodes. The surrounding areas in Ukraine are seeded with radiation. Years later, when the radiation levels are bearable, Soviet scientists and other supporting staff move back into the area, whereat they made shocking discovery.

There were survivors. Hundreds of them. But there was something different about them, inhuman. It would seem that the exposure to the radiation caused people in the area to mutate into a simple husk of what they once were. Their flesh would be in all types of colors, pale greys, greens and even blacks. They had about them the stench of rotting flesh. Many lacked limbs and fingers. Others had often gaping wounds on their person, yet seemed unaffected by blood loss.

They couldn’t bear sunlight, it appeared to scald their pallid skin as well blind them. Lights and lighted areas seem not to bother them as sunlight does, and many were found in various hiding places, trying to escape the sunlight.

They couldn’t communicate through speaking; the only sounds they made were either in screams or in moans. Their eyes were whited over, but it seemed they could see without any difficulties.

Most disturbing about them however, was their diet: Flesh. Many of the scientists and their staff were set upon, unsuspecting, by these creatures and were very messily and gruesomely devoured. Military support was called in, and the Soviets effectively eradicated the creatures. However, a sample was taken from the population for further study.

Further scientific analysis told the scientists much more.

The radiation mutated the peoples DNA, altering genes to the point where the mind of the people were only a shell of the human brain, the only brain function that remained was “consume”. The teeth of the creatures became much harder than that of normal humans, and were coated in bacteria. It was later observed, through an accidental bite on one of the scientists, that the bacteria soon attacked the spinal cord of the victim and made its way to the brain, reducing the victim to one of them. The whole process took the better part of 8 hours for the victim to change. This bacteria was tested on all sorts of animals and the unfortunate scientist that was bitten. All fell victim to the transformation, save insects and aquatic animals. Insects, it was found, were much too small to fall victim to the infection. Aquatic animals also demonstrate an immunity to the bacteria, though no concrete connection or reason why has been found, though hypothesis points to the constant state of being in water eliminates the bacteria’s effect. No cure, save immediate sanitation, halting the blood flow from the bitten area, and amputation staved off the effects of the bacteria. A pause of mere moments could be the difference between retaining one’s humanity or changing into one of these creatures.

The Soviets had discovered Zombies.

Through further analysis, it was found that there are three types of zombies.

Husks- Husks are zombies with flesh that is usually abnormally pale in comparison to humans. This type is usually missing limbs and they move slow, usually encumbered by their missing or broken limbs. Not much overt offense is needed to kill a Husk.

Drones- Drones vary from pale grey to dark black, and though they may be missing limbs, they have a slight regenerative property to them. A lost or injured limb will heal in a course of 3 weeks. Drones are more mobile then Husks and can withstand more punishment then can a Husk.

Soldiers- Soldiers have a pallid greed flesh. Their teeth often grow long and pointed and their eyes often get a red tinge to them. In only a week a Soldier can heal most serious wounds. They have mobility equal to or less than a human and are quite resilient.

However, the three types show no differences in intelligence, and all attempts at education have shown that zombies lack an effective thought system with weak motor skills. They only show a hint of capability to adapt, but hunger presses them to insane limits, even risking themselves for food. They feed on any flesh, but will never eat the flesh of a fellow zombie.

It seems that the bacteria attack certain genes, and depending on the genetic makeup of the victim, one of the three types of zombie would be created.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the scientist teams were effectively dissolved. Before the lab could be completely cleared, a militant group, eager for power after the collapse of the Soviet Union, broke into the lab and unwittingly released the zombies. Though many were killed, enough escaped into the surrounding countryside.

First rumors were spread, of “the undead horde” ravaging the countryside, eating brains and changing people and animals into zombies with a simple bite. If only the people knew the truth of their rumors.

The zombies quickly spread all over Asia, into Russia and the over populated China. People went crazy with the seemingly unexplained spread of the zombie plague. Militaries were mobilized to combat the threat, but ultimately the whole of Asia was a shattered remnant of what it used to be. Within 20 years, the plague had reached Europe and was into Africa. The plague was halfway into South America before it was finally headed off. The United Kingdom, amid the uneasiness of its Prime Minister, closed its borders, including the detonation of the Chunnel, even implementing martial law to prevent the plague from entering the United Kingdom. Except for a few isolated cases, the United Kingdom had staved of the plague.

North and Central America also closed all trade from Europe, and, seeing that South America was under the advance of the plague, the decision was made to hold off the advance at the Panama Canal. The decision proved to be a good one, there is only one case of the plague entering Central America and few rumors besides.

Australia also managed to avoid the zombie plague, both closing its ports and enacting strict quarantine and containment protocols.

Trade between Australia, North America and the United Kingdom flourishes. Task forces from the US and the UK have missions into the plagued areas, bringing back historical artifacts, important documentation, wealth, other supplies and survivors they can to the mainland. Forward bases were establishes in the highlands of Scandinavia, Ukraine, and Northern Russia. The zombies seem to favor warmer climates. These bases are set up both as offensive positions as well as a haven for survivors of the plague. However, all bases have had problems. All of them report sporadic and constant zombie activity, and bases in the Swiss Alps and Himalayas have been completely overrun.

Because of the collapse of much of Europe and Asia, the economies of surviving nations suffered a staggering blow. Though the decline is stabilized and slowly improving, food and other necessities of life were once near the threat of running low, but a restructure of the economies of all nations led each to be completely self-sufficient, though incursions into plagued nations for raw materials are beginning to increase in number. Corporations are beginning to join this line of work, as long as they adhere completely to any and all aspects of the Quarantine and Containment Act.

Pockets of survivors exist all over. Many have established their own cities and towns, many of which wish to remain instead of being moved to a base. There are also many individual persons and families in the Plagued Zone, as it is called, that are doing their best to eke out a living. There are also renegade factions, from vigilantes that work with the task force, to renegades who ignore it completely, and even hostile factions that actively attack it. One prominent friendly faction is a group of Russian ex-military individuals who refer to themselves as simply “The Comrades”. Though hard-pressed, they have managed to cleanse and hold the capital of Russia, Moscow.

How do I know all this? Simple. I was one of the scientists working in the project, and with a team we came here thinking we could stop the zombies before they spread, only we found that it was much, much too late. At nightfall this night, a group of zombies retreated into this lab to escape the sunlight, only to find us here. All of my team is either eaten or one of them by now. All I have is a pistol that I’m not even completely sure how to operate. Whomsoever finds this writing, I pray you don’t suffer my fate. I haven’t much time now; they know I’m here. They’ll wait. Yes, they will wait.

From February 7 through March 17, 2018, Pilevneli Gallery presented Refik Anadol’s latest project on the materiality of remembering.

The Gut-Soothing, Brain-Boosting Power of Mint Leaves

Sadly, mint leaves are often considered little more than an ingredient used to spice up drinks or settle an upset tummy. In reality, though, the potent little mint supplement provides an impressive series of important vitamins, vitamins and health benefits which make it a true powerhouse of nutrition. That’s why mint earns an area as one of the top healing seasonings.

In reality, the potential mint leaves benefits to extend way further than freshening up your breath of air. Research shows that mint leaves can even bump up brain function, assist in intestinal health and help balance hormonal levels to keep your body at it is best.

So how can mint leaves enhance your health, and how is it possible to incorporate them into your normal daily diet? Below is what you need to know.

What Are Mint Leaves?

Mint leaves can refer to any herb in the Mentha genus, nevertheless, the term is most often used to associate to peppermint and spearmint, the two most common types of mint vegetable. Spearmint is a flower with a sweet taste that works well at many recipes while peppermint has a higher attentiveness of menthol, which documents for most of the medicinal uses of mint leaves.

Mint leaves are really functional and can be used to produce a soothing cup of tea or included in everything from salads to puddings. Plus, studies show that these different variations of the mint herb could have a number of beneficial effects on health, from boosting brain function to keeping hormone levels under control, offering you all the more reason to consider adding this powerful herb into your regular rotation.

Great things about Mint Leaves

Improve Our digestive health

May Reduce Cold Symptoms

Help Dental Hygiene

Boost Brain Function

Soothe Breastfeeding Pain

Decrease PCOS Symptoms

Decrease Stomach upset

1. Improve Digestive Wellbeing

Many people grab mints at the first indication of tummy troubles, and for a valid reason. Mint is well-known due to the stomach-soothing properties thanks to the occurrence of a compound in peppermint oil called menthol, which helps relax the muscles in the digestive: tract to provide alleviation.

Studies show that mint may be especially beneficial for folks with irritable colon syndrome (IBS), a condition that causes IBS symptoms like belly pain, costiveness, diarrhea, nausea, bloating and cramps. In fact, one double-blind, placebo-controlled study out of Italy gave people with IBS peppermint olive oil capsules for four several weeks and found that symptoms were slashed by seventy-five percent.

2. May Reduce Cold Symptoms

Flip over just about any otc cold or flu treatments and you’ll likely place “menthol” on the set of ingredients. Menthol is one of the primary ingredients in peppermint oil, and although there is inconsistent evidence about just how effective menthol may be at relieving congestion, several studies have found that it may help improve airflow to reduce frosty symptoms.

3. Help Dental Hygiene

Popping a few mints or a keep of mint-flavored gum is a well-known natural cure to freshen up bad breath, but are you aware that it could also help promote oral hygiene as well?

One of the key benefits associated with peppermint tea is it is powerful antimicrobial properties, which can help kill off bacteria to optimize common hygiene. Brew up a cup or two of peppermint tea using mint leaves, and pair it with proper oral cleanliness practices to keep your mouth healthy and fresh.

4. Boost Brain Function

Interestingly enough, some research shows that your mere smell of mint could be enough to increase brain power and improve cognitive function. One research published in the Worldwide Journal of Neuroscience, for example, showed that the aroma of peppermint was able to enhance storage and increase alertness. Likewise, another study published in the North American Record of Psychology also revealed that peppermint scent was effective at reducing low energy and anxiety while bettering alertness, thanks to their ability to stimulate the central nervous system.

5. Soothe Breastfeeding Pain

Broke, sore and painful hard nips are some of the most frequent side effects of breastfeeding a baby, most of that can be difficult to effectively soothe and treat. Some research shows that mint leaves may help relieve pain caused by breastfeeding by creating a decrease in these serious symptoms and side results when applied topically.

A study conducted by the Alzahra Teaching Hospital in Iran showed that making use of peppermint gel was significantly more effective than lanolin at protecting against nipple breaks in nursing mothers. One more study published in the International Breastfeeding Journal found that daily use of peppermint water could prevent nipple cracks, noting that ladies who used it regularly also reported less pain.

6. Reduce PCOS Symptoms

Some studies have found that mint tea benefits polycystic ovary syndrome, a condition in women that is seen as excess levels of male hormones. This is because it has anti-androgen effects, helping to reduce testosterone levels to keep hormone levels in balance.

One particular 2010 study published in Phytotherapy Research showed that drinking spearmint herbal tea was able to significantly decrease testosterone levels and improve subjective assessments of hirsutism, or irregular locks growth, in women. A great animal study also confirmed that drinking peppermint tea led to a lowering in testosterone in rodents compared to a control group, suggesting which it could be beneficial for people that have PCOS.

7. Decrease Stomach upset

Also known as fatigue, indigestion is described as an impaired digestive function, resulting in recurrent symptoms like heartburn, nausea, belching and belly pain. Analyses have found that peppermint oil speeds up the emptying of the abdomen, which could protect against indigestion to avoid symptoms. Working with peppermint oil as a treatment for indigestion has also been shown to be effective, in particular, when together with other ingredients like caraway oil.
