This was a little spot that we camped at for a couple of nights...we were lucky, we had all to ourselves. Sadly the small amount of water in the gorge was not safe to swim in, due to some microbes that could cause brain damage. We risked using it to wash our feet!

"Tremella mesenterica (common names include yellow brain, golden jelly fungus, yellow trembler, and witches' butter is a common jelly fungus in the Tremellaceae family of the Agaricomycotina.

It is most frequently found on dead but attached and on recently fallen branches, especially of angiosperms, as a parasite of wood decay fungi in the genus Peniophora.

The gelatinous, orange-yellow fruit body of the fungus, which can grow up to 7.5 cm (3.0 in) diameter, has a convoluted or lobed surface that is greasy or slimy when damp.

It grows in crevices in bark, appearing during rainy weather. Within a few days after rain it dries into a thin film or shriveled mass capable of reviving after subsequent rain.

This fungus occurs widely in deciduous and mixed forests and is widely distributed in temperate and tropical regions that include Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North and South America. Although considered bland and flavorless, the fungus is edible. Tremella mesenterica produces carbohydrates that are attracting research interest because of their various biological activities. - WiKi

"Gele trilzwam (Tremella mesenterica)

- WiKi

"Neuroscience is by far the most exciting branch of science because the brain is the most fascinating object in the universe. Every human brain is different - the brain makes each human unique and defines who he or she is."

“Rabbit's clever," said Pooh thoughtfully.

"Yes," said Piglet, "Rabbit's clever."

"And he has Brain."

"Yes," said Piglet, "Rabbit has Brain."

There was a long silence.

"I suppose," said Pooh, "that that's why he never understands anything.”

Every time I see a turkey's caruncles I am reminded of the cerebral cortex with its many folds and grooves. Think they look a bit like...a brain spill? ;-)

Thank you for your visit, comments & faves! :-)

Common names for Tremella mesenterica include Yellow Brain Fungus, Golden Jelly Fungus, and Witches' Butter (although the last usually refers to the black fungus Exidia glandulosa).

T. mesenterica is a parasite. On the right side of the branch, the purplish fungus - Oak Crust (Peniophora quercina) - is its host.

'Cause I can't stand it, can't managе the

Septic in my brain and how it's taking the advantage

The ones above will drown us out

To make sure we don't make a sound

You hate it when I whisper?

Muthafucka can you hear me now?

Scoot over at the table, don't you know we gotta eat too?

We ain't asking either, muthafucka better make room

The chains loose now, how you feel 'bout that?

Some of you may remember the MedievalRocker from a Saturday Self Challenge way back ( see the link in the first comment box ) . For the one shot a day group I thought he could have another airing as the pop-up oven-top studio was in use getting ready for this week's SSC shot .

Afraid to say his brain still hurts , the price a rock star has to pay !!

Lesser spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopus minor) male_w_5201

Woodpeckers have a special bone in their head called the hyoid bone. This special bone unique to woodpeckers wraps around their entire skull inside their heads and adds a sort of shock protection. This protects them from “headaches” or injuring themselves when they are repeatedly smashing their heads up against a tree, sometimes for hours.

These little woodpeckers are uncommon to locally fairly common in deciduous woodland, parkland, larger gardens.

Very small (sparrow-sized) and easily overlooked, often foraging quietly on smaller branches and twigs high in canopy (like this little chap..).

Note bold white barring on back and wings, whitish underparts with no red blush under tail; male has red crown patch.

Brain Coral / Hirnkoralle

This was taken at the base of a waterfall and the textures on the ice looked like a brain to me. It’s incredible how nature sculpts these shapes in many ways to create such a porcelain structure. I like the hint of blue that we sometimes see in the ice. We had enough of a thaw to show tiny patches of grass on our lawn and our roof was clear. Today, we have snow squalls and freezing rain again. So I am making another hearty soup. Italian vegetable with left over ham I found in the freezer.

With Kid OGeezy. Quick little joints.

Thank you all who fave and comment on my photo'/video's,much appreciated.

Brain-Down Lock

Road is bumpy, thoughts fall over,

They cannot do a single step,

Your face is prisoner in a high tower,

The bridge is facing a real gap.

Seeing pictures: snapshots of life,

Grasping nothing that can matter,

Gazing thru the real world twice,

I learn an alphabet without letter.

No words who dare to paint a love,

I freeze my mind down to the hell,

Fake is the brightness calling above,

There is though only one name to spell.

Volatile wisdom blowing the air,

Acquired chances embrace the mind,

Let the grey heart be a bit fair,

I need to see then what I'll find.
