Designed and built in 1929. The ballroom was a major venue for bands of the 1930s and 1940s. Built in an Art Deco styling with an Aztec theme. At 5600 sq feet, it was meant to hold around a 1000 couples. The maple dance floor was built on springs to give the dancers a bounce as they moved.
After closing around 1958, it reopened in the mid 60s as a concert venue. With shows a couple times a week, bands such as the MC5; The Stooges; and Ted Nugent and The Amboy Dukes played here. Soon the doors closed again.
Also more recently featured in a the Eminem movie, "8 Mile".
It now sits empty, neglected and dilapidated like many other historic locations in Detroit.

Still experimenting with pouring sugar and this is still not the effect that I was aiming for, but I liked the way the sugar bounced off the orange.
We're still waiting for that bounce. I think we can safely forget the Brexit bounce, so its just the post pandemic bounce to look forward to.
PS. I forgot the vaccine bounce. But that is expected to increase the fortunes of the government, not the general populace.

Playing around with Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) and one of my light tools reflected in a bathroom mirror. It's always magical.
The bounce of light from the nearby Iowa State Capitol building onto this nearby one made for a surreal view. It appears as a bit of a meltdown of this Iowa treasure, November, 2022. Let's hope this remains surreal only.

This is the dangdest double mirror reflection/light bounce shadow/reflection I've encountered on Bay Street yet! I'm not even sure what to call it! But sometimes light just ricochets off the glass curtain walls in the financial district canyon in unpredictable ways. ;-) Photographed in downtown Toronto. Processed in PS.
