What a bossy, bossy birdie. Dunbar (Northern Mockingbird) has a lovely voice and sings beautiful songs. However, as February approaches he is predictably becoming bossier and bossier towards the other birds. Still, I do love him.
There is plenty of food for all, I wish he would just relax. I know, it's not in his nature. But wow, he wouldn't have to spend near the energy he does if he would relax.
I hope everyone has a lovely weekend. As for me, I will be covering plants today. Winter is here, and we are going to get freezing temps in the area. You can probably see that I have already begun covering plants. The green backdrop in this image is frost cloth.
I will be putting out extra feeders for all of my little feathered friends and furry ones like Robbie (gray squirrels). With the plants being covered, they won't really have access to the insects they are accustomed to.

Was hoping for a better showing than this but the clouds never fully lit up. Shot this as a bracketed exposure +/- 2 and developed in Photomatix Pro version 7. I love this company. I originally bought version 2.0 and still get to upgrade to the newest versions for free. Rare in the computer industry!
Been playing with poses and light again. Haven't done that for a while and I just love how things turn out simply by playing. :)
Another one of the wayward travelers briefly in the yard during spring migration. The tiny males were hopping all around, catching any insect in their paths. They don't walk but hop along on the ground with jerky movements. I love their brash personalities....usually approachable while giving you the eye and staying long enough for a good look at you. Very loud for a tiny bird....their bossy "witchety witchety witchety" song is impossible to ignore!

Because Beethoven was alone I had found a girlfriend named Bessie for him. She was already 5 years old and was the boss in the house. Beethoven had no say. So what I did to please him, that failed.
I was able to give her back to her previous owner and now she has found a new warm basket with another girl in the house. ♥
