In the dark of the night, the small Boreal Owl comes alive in the spruce and fir forests of northern North America and Europe. This bright-eyed, square faced owl sits and waits on a perch for small mammals and birds before gliding down talons first to grab it. From late winter through spring, its quick, hollow hooting sounds across the dark forest as the male calls for a mate. They spend the year in boreal forests, occasionally making their way farther south in years of prey scarcity.
A Bored Walk is what I tell myself To masquerade ennui. When really I look just about as Fabulous as one could be. My black dress is floor length With patterns bright and stylish. My black heels I could actually Truly walk for miles in. Their coral platforms match the Coral color of my necklace. And the stripes of my jacket just ensure This outfit’s one I could never be bored with.

The Wait for wildlife, The bored photographers! (Sceoll down, sorry thought I could have taken better shots while I was bored at least, but this tells the story of our outing just fine!!!)
Overcast skies, wrong camera settings and amateur photographer.....doesn't matter to me as this is a new life bird and observed for the first time today.
What a beautiful species! A three owl day (both in boreal owls and in owl species) was awesome, as was the time spent with other area birders.

I would've preferred different lighting, but I'm still very excited to have a boreal chickadee for my collection!
Do they look bored? They're waiting patiently for Mommy to make lunch already!
This little series was photographed in my kitchen, with orange walls. Oh how I hate those orange walls. Those walls throw my WB off.

This Boreal Owl was resting quietly, tucked into a pine tree. It's eyes opened wide as another Boreal Owl flew in and landed in branches above this one. It quickly relaxed and continued roosting.
