The legendary bass player and Cincinnati native was the Grand Marshall at the Parade of Nations last week, part of the World Choir games. Always a really nice guy, he was happy to pose for photos before the event.
I also wanted to recognize Nelson Mandela Day today. Do something good for 67 minutes to celebrate the great mans 94th birthday. I dedicate this to Andre, who is the only person I know of who has met Mandela, a singular honor.
Outfit and bass owned by Bootsy Collins which he donated to the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington D.C.
Funk legends Bernie Worrell and Bootsy Collins together performing in Montreal. "Appreciate people you love while they're still here," said the legendary bassist Collins before describing, introducing, and thanking each individual member of the band. Each received a hug and kiss from The Star plus a rose, which they gave to an appreciative audience. Musically the concert was superb; this warmth was an added bonus.
