I have no idea what this plant is but tucked into the bushes, the reddish leaves caught my attention. In this HSS edit, I've emphasized the shadowy branches I was shooting through and boosted a few sliders in LR to deepen the colors! Hope everyone has a Happy Sliders Sunday!
Promoters of Echinacea believe it boosts the immune system. Seeing these first thing on a dewy morning certainly boosted my mood even without ingesting any of it.
I took this yesterday on my neighborhood walk. I boosted it with the Chrome option on my phone for Sliders Sunday - HSS!
I spotted this Red-Tailed hawk on a tree branch, concentrated on its prey moving in the grass at the edge of an irrigation canal. Hawks usually fly away when they spot someone from far away. This time the prey seemed to have mesmerized the hawk. That gave me time to close in and hide behind the next treeâs trunk when the hawk decided to strike, disapearing in the tall and dense grass. I layed down low and waited for movement. He finally showed up with whatever was left of a vole or mole.

In September of 1991, Canadian Pacific ran TWO picnic specials for their employees and families of the Delaware & Hudson to boost moral and just make everyone happy by letting them know that they have arrived and will take care of them. One train ran from Binghamton with two pristine MLW C424's and then there was this unusual power set that ran, I believe, out of Saratoga. Both trains converged on Oneonta where passenger disembarked to the Neahwa Park for a BBQ and bull session. It was a beautiful day for all!
I'm sure Gordy can give a little more insight on the happenings at this early CPR era of the D&H.

Earlier this week, the central California coast was blessed with its first real sunset since the summer marine layer began way back in May. That light caused a furor around the Bay Area, with lots of photogs hoping that the winter sunset season had begun.
So it came as no surprise when this past week I received a flurry of text messages asking how the evening clouds looked here at the coast in Santa Cruz. But sadly, the entire week was crystal-clear and cloudless. Until Friday night that is. A few clouds started to build, but nothing to get too exited about. Nevertheless, I knew there were some keen shooters out there, so I got in touch with Jave and David, and talked about the clouds a bit.
Both guys decided to roll on out to the coast to shoot Natural Bridges even if it meant shooting in less than spectacular conditions. As we got to the beach however, it became apparent that the sky was going to BLOW UP (to use the appropriately Jave vernacular). When the color did arrive, it was so full and beautiful that it caused us to lose all rationality and run around like chickens, scratching in the sand and shooting shooting shooting.
Afterward we kept talking about how it was the best light we've ever seen at NB (either in person or in photos). Simply amazing.

In Photoshop:
- Noise reduction via Neat Image
- Selective Sharpening of arch
- Slight brightness and contrast boost to foreground
- Slight brightness and contrast boost to bridge to enhance the light there
- Luminosity mask on bright brights with darkening curves layers to improve color near the horizon on the right hand side

The vitamin boost doesn't just apply to grapes and tomatoes. Photography often gives me a positive boost (and sometimes a bit frustation when things don't work out well). So now I'm curious what gives you positve energy?

After the official approval Friday, we made the appointment and had the vaccine my husband and I yesterday. No side effects today so far.
Moderna is the only vaccine that only need half dose for booster.
I published this moment in my life because I know some people wonder what happen after you have a vaccine. Hope everybody have the opportunity to choose if you want to get it or not.
The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are made using messenger RNA, or mRNA, a technology that delivers a bit of genetic code to cells â in effect, a recipe to make the surface protein (known as spike) on the SARS-2 virus. The proteins made with the mRNA instructions activate the immune system, teaching it to see the spike protein as foreign and develop antibodies and other immunity weapons with which to fight it.

We had a really fun and productive day in San Diego today. I got tons of shots and some of them I acually like. These are the first 4 I've edited.. They'll be more to come.
Strobist: Vivitar 285 on 1/2 power far left. Sunpak 444D on 1/2 power far right.
4th gear, 100mph, 18psi... I can't stoppppp!
This is NOT a Photoshop effect. The image was actually taken at a very safe pace with 1" shutter speed. I took about 50 pictures and most of them turned out okay, but I really like this one because the pretty red truck I was passing really gives a great sense of motion. The camera was mounted on a tripod in my car, and the shot was taken with a remote in my hand.
If you like this shot, you may be interested in these shots too. My Explore set, and

I captured the two images that make up this Vertorama on Thursday last week⊠less than a minute before I got totally drenched by the most incredible thunderstorm that I have seen in years!!
As soon as I heard the first thunderclap and noticed the rapidly darkening sky⊠I was in my car and driving like a lunatic towards Melkbos Strand⊠where I hoped that I would find some nice compositions to accompany this amazing weather. I arrived at the beach just as the first drop of rain hit my windscreen⊠and I judged that Iâd have no more than about five minutes of shooting before the heavens opened up.
Except for some fishermen a few hundred meters away⊠and this father and daughter enjoying the water⊠the beach was completely deserted. It was so hot and humid that I was considering going for a swim myself⊠Iâm glad that I decided to shoot rather than swim though⊠I got so completely soaked by the rain⊠that I certainly didnât need to go for a swim to cool down. :)
The sky in this Vertorama might look like I darkened it and boosted the contrast⊠but this was exactly how it looked⊠very dark⊠and very oppressive⊠a monthâs worth of clouds all packed into one sky⊠it was totally awesome⊠more than I could have wished for!!
Nikon D300, Sigma 10-20mm at 15mm, aperture of f10, with a 1/500th second exposure.

This was my last picture just before going home.
The light levels dropped a bit and | wanted to grab this moment with the outgoing tide engulfing these rocks, so I upped the ISO to 500 and opened up the aperture to f/7.1 to get an exposure of 190 seconds using my Hitech pro stopper.
I wouldn't have been able to get this shot with my Sigma 10-20 as it would have been too wide rendering the rocks much further away.
I colour corrected the picture first of all but decided to put it back to how it was as I feel the cool blue suits the tranquil feel of the shot.
