Wayang Menak atau disebut juga Wayang Golek Menak merupakan wayang berbentuk boneka kayu yang diyakini muncul pertama kali di daerah Kudus pada masa pemerintahan Sunan Paku Buwana II. Sumber cerita Wayang Menak berasal dari Kitab Menak, yang ditulis atas kehendak Kanjeng Ratu Mas Balitar, permaisuri Sunan Paku Buwana I pada tahun 1717 M.
Babon induk dari Kitab Menak berasal dari Persia, menceritakan Wong Agung Jayeng Rana atau Amir Ambyah (Amir Hamzah), paman Nabi Muhammad SAW. Isi pokok cerita adalah permusuhan antara Wong Agung Jayeng Rana yang beragama Islam dengan Prabu Nursewan yang belum memeluk agama Islam.
Here are all five of my Iplehouse BID girls! I just love how individual each sculpt is - they remind me of a group of real kindergarten children - each one has her own personality and appeal.
I did all of their faceups except for Erzulie. Her faceup is by Iplehouse and I think they did a great job.
I really love the pastel Iplehouse cardigan sets and am hoping they will bring out more colours. In the meanwhile, Allie (Naias) and Athelie (Erzulie) are wearing pretty pastel dresses by Boneka.
Sorry we have been absent for a while. My computer had a virus and had to go away to be fixed, then the internet broke; and also I have been having a bad time with my illness, boo :(
But spent some time with my number one girl at the weekend and feeling happier :) We did some colouring in together ^____^

Wayang adalah bentuk teater rakyat yang sangat populer, terutama di pulau Jawa dan Bali. Orang sering menghubungkan kata “wayang” dengan “bayang”, karena dilihat dari pertunjukan wayang kulit yang memakai layar, di mana muncul bayang-bayang. Di Jawa Barat, selain dikenal wayang kulit, yang paling populer adalah Wayang golek . Istilah golek dapat merujuk kepada dua makna, sebagai kata kerja kata golek bermakna 'mencari', sebagai kata benda golek bermakna boneka kayu. Berkenaan dengan wayang golek, ada dua macam di antaranya wayang golek papak (cepak) dan wayang golek purwa yang ada di daerah Sunda. Kecuali wayang orang yang merupakan bentuk seni tari-drama yang ditarikan manusia, kebanyakan bentuk kesenian wayang dimainkan oleh seorang dalang sebagai pemimpin pertunjukan yang sekaligus menyanyikan suluk, menyuarakan antawacana, mengatur gamelan mengatur lagu dan lain-lain.

The meped procession of the ngusabe celebration of Sukawati is a spectacle different from most other temple ceremonies in Bali for the participants, boys, girls, young ladies and women wear their classical fineries.
Dressed in heavily painted prada brocade strips wound tightly around their bodies, decked in heavy gold leaf and flower headresses (they really are heavy!) and adorned in their finest traditional jewelry, the girls are like dolls. They are however expected to walk the hot 3km asphalt route barefooted. They are as stoic as they appear here.

Athelie is a very lucky girl! She got this beautiful new dress for her birthday. Her auntie made it for her and she loves the roses embroidered all over it! Her Auntie also made Athie a rag dolly to match her dress. Athelie named her Maddie and she is now her constant companion.
