Lima Peru 秘魯 利馬

It took two retirees five summers to dig this up. Slow, painstaking - they use paint brushes and screwdrivers! One of the largest apatosaurus femurs ever found. Six feet long.

"In lonely watches night by night,

Great visions burst upon my sight.

For down the stretches of the sky,

The hosts of dead go marching by."

One of the most interesting (and strange) places I've visited in Portugal is the Capela dos Ossos (Bone Chapel), a small room attached to the Igreja de São Francisco (San Francisco Church) in Évora. The chapel was built by Franciscan monks in the 16th-century using bones from over 5,000 people that came from overflowing graveyards at nearby churches and monasteries. To add to the atmosphere, there was dramatic classical music playing and an inscription above the door in Portuguese that says “We bones that are here are waiting for yours.”

Oh, somewhere deep inside of these bones,

An emptiness began to grow,

There's something out there, far from my home,

A longing that I've never known.

By Dana Albany. I don't know if this is the same Bone Tree built for the burn in '99, but it sure looks similar. The bones are real, taken from the desert and ranches nearby.

Can Negre (Sant Joan Despí)

One of the most powerful bone-crushing jaws on Earth, she is a gentle kisser. Wild hyenas of Harar, Ethiopia.

Now for something more normal....

More photos later, along with more MOCs I promise. Just have been busy with life stuff, but that's what I seem to say all the time. But, now I can promise it since I'm entering the MOCOlympics.

58032 "Thoresby Colliery" is about to enter the Gascoigne Wood complex with MGR empties on the 14th May 1996. As can be seen, I was nearly bowled by an outbound National Power coal train.

Hope everyone is having a great Halloween!

This guy wokes me up and ruins my weekend nap time...grrrrr....

Needless to say, Nugget was ecstatic when she found this large cow bone! She even brought it home with her!
