Stepped streets of a village in the Lot under the harsh August sun.

This week, I was torn between a very technical, clear image and this almost accidental discovery. The more technical image was a paper ribbon on a plastic reel I "dug out" on an archaeological expedition into the gift wrapping drawer. The paper ribbon wasn't that interesting, but the reel was. Even more so, when I looked at the price tag that was still glued onto it, saying "DM" (= Deutsche Mark), which we had last paid with... when? I have a vague recollection of 2002... Mr Bones, take over!
And the other, among a few more bobbins and thread spools, was this. A spool with a rather thick, fuzzy, woollen yarn, darning yarn, I guess. The yarn's ends that were sticking out were nicely frayed, and that was the part I was most interested in from the beginning. But the image didn't come together before I laid the reel on the black tile, with the yarn's ends pointing forward like little arms. Pareidolia kicked in, and I saw this little reel creature.
I thought it looked charming, but something was still missing. So I added two things. The way "(s)he" was lying there reminded me of someone lying on its stomach, in the grass, maybe, and exploring something that he (or she) just found on the ground. So I needed something to put into the little creature's "hands", and what was more obvious than another thread from another darning yarn reel? I was lucky to have red darning yarn at hand, so I used it. And to brighten the little spool creature's face, highlighting its "eye", I used an LED flashlight (set on spotlight) and placed it behind the thread spool. To highlight the little arms and the red thread, I held another LED flashlight, also set on spotlight, above the arms.
I hope you can see the little explorer, too :) HMM, Everyone!
#Macro #MacroMondays #Reels

A rainy day with Photoshop instead of camera. For my album "Creativity, Close-up and Macro". (Not AI). Take a look !

In her hands, time unspools like a film roll.
Around her neck, reels become jewels, reminders of a world where every image was born from light and the hush of the darkroom.
She wears the silver of the past like a spark of soul, guardian of the chemical magic that once turned shadow into memory.
Warning: this necklace is not Wi-Fi rechargeable ! 😉
