The Best of Scottish Motorsport event held at Knockhill Racing Circuit April 2025 hosted races from a variety of championships under the Knockhill Motor Sports Club (KMSC) and the Scottish Motor Racing Club (SMRC) banners.

The MINI Cooper SD Countryman 1st gen, also known as the R60, is the first-generation Countryman model produced from 2010 to 2016, offering a practical crossover with Mini's iconic styling and optional All4 all-wheel-drive. It features a range of petrol and diesel engines, including the performance-oriented Cooper SD, and provides a fun-to-drive experience with a more spacious interior than other Minis.
Ironically, it is not consistently listed among the "hottest" or top-selling cars in the UK.
The first generation Mini Cooper Countryman, also known as the R60 model, was launched in 2010 and is a subcompact crossover SUV. It was the first vehicle of its type to be launched by BMW under the Mini marque. Mini Countryman is a good choice for those seeking a more practical and spacious Mini experience, especially families or those who frequently carry passengers or cargo.
It offers a comfortable ride and good fuel economy while retaining some of the fun-to-drive handling characteristics of the regular Mini hatchback. The Countryman also shines with its "ALL4" all-wheel drive option, which provides extra traction in less-than-ideal road conditions, making it a capable choice for snowy or slippery surfaces.
The 1st gen Mini Countryman won various awards, including a 5-star safety rating by Euro NCAP and "Best Crossover of 2011" by Parkers.
The Mini Countryman received a minor facelift in 2014, including a redesigned hexagonal radiator grille, underride guard elements for the Cooper S ALL4, additional body color options, LED fog lights and new alloy wheel designs.
The first generation Mini Cooper Countryman (model code R60) was discontinued in January 2017 and was replaced by the second generation model.

The second generation (BMW) Mini Countryman was introduced at the 2016 Los Angeles Motor Show with a February 2017 European launch. It was launched with three variants: Cooper (FWD or ALL4), Cooper S (FWD or ALL4), and in June 2017, the new Cooper S E ALL4 plug-in hybrid. The new model is 8 inches longer and 1 inch wider than the first generation
The Cooper Countryman is powered by a 1500cc turbocharged 3-cylinder engine, while the Cooper S will use a new 2.0-litre turbo S4.
The Countryman received a facelift in the latter half of 2020, as the F60 LC1, with a sportier look, adding switchback LED DRLs/blinkers, new taillights to represent the British flag, and a new interior. It receives redone 18-inch alloy wheels, revised grille, and revised front and rear bumpers

The third generation Mini was unveiled by BMW in November 2013, with sales starting in the first half of 2014. The new car is 98 mm longer, 44 mm wider, and 7 mm taller than the outgoing model, with a 28 mm longer wheelbase and an increase in track width, with the cars built on the BMW UKL1 platform. Upon release the three door Mini Cooper S was the ranges performance car powered by BMW B37 2 litre engine in two levels of power output: 95 PS and 116 PS. But were soon to be eclipsed by the introduction on the John Cooper Works model in 2015.
This JCW Mini Challenge 210 Edition is a limited edition variant built as a road going version of the track based cars competing in the single series Mini Challenge

The MINI First was like a special edition, but it was a budget-friendly entry-level model within the Mini hatchback lineup. It featured a smaller engine and was equipped with fewer features compared to other Mini models. The First offered a classic Mini driving experience with sharp handling and a firm yet controlled ride, despite its less powerful engine. Available from 2009 to 2014, the MINI First was known for its classic Mini handling characteristics, with sharp steering, good grip, and strong brakes, but a slightly less powerful engine.

I've also just learned of the Nikon ML-L3 Wireless Remote Control, which would have been VERY handy taking these shots. It's this $20 infrared remote button that's the size of a house key and works with their newer SLRs, but I don't think it works with the D3. Although it says it only works inside 16 feet. Anyway, I took these on a 20-second timer. A very kind woman with a foreign accent helped me shoot a few (while her companion took pictures of me as well) but this one was on the timer and tripod from across the road.

The third generation BMW-Mini Hatch was launched in 2013 with sales from mid-2014 as a three door Hatch (F56), and five door Hatch (F55), with a two door Convertible (F57) added in 2015. Designed by Stefan Göppel it was built on the BMW UKL1 platform at the Mini plant in Oxford, UK and by Nedcar Born (VDL Nedcar), Netherlands and also constructed from CKD in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The third generation is taller, wider and higher than its immeadiate predecessor, with a more rounded shape to aid aerodynamics.
Six all-new engines are offered for this Mini, four petrol and two diesels: two models of a 1.2 litre three-cylinder petrol with either 75 PS or 102 PS, a 1.5 litre 3-cylinder petrol with 136 PS, (BMW B38 engine), a 2.0 litre four-cylinder petrol (BMW B48 engine) that produces 192 PS for the Cooper S, and a 1.5 litre 3-cylinder diesel (BMW B37 engine) in two levels of power output: 95 PS and 116 PS (Cooper D), and a 2.0 litre turbo-diesel inline-four (BMW B47 engine) that produces 170 PS (Cooper SD). These engines are mated with a choice of either a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic, or a 6-speed sports automatic gearbox
