Like busy bees, these guys skip from one flower to the next in a serious attempt to satisfy their unquenchable thirst.

Hey!

Life is short, so why not eat, drink and be merry.

And with all the wild yeasts out there who's to say whether these guys don't imbibe in a little mead¹ every once in a while?

It was the best of times, it was the blurst of times. The first part was because, after a grueling three-day work-week back from Christmas vacation, we're back on vacation again! FINALLY! By this time tomorrow we'll be living the Mickey Mouse dream! As for the second part, though...

... For starters, Pookie got sicker again tonight. BOOO! Then there was much stressing about packing, as there always is, with the usual hectic scrambling and snipping and crankiness and man, traveling really sucks. And then, there was the Great Suitcase Debacle. Pookie has a brand-new (very expensive) suitcase because the Peeing Bandit ruined her old one, and after packing everything up she went to set the new lock and... nothing. It got halfway set, and then wouldn't re-open. And yes, it got locked shut rather than being locked without the zippers in their slot. So now we're heading off to bed, with a pre-dawn departure for the airport, and Pookie is not wholly sure how she's going to get back into her suitcase. At least all her essential nutmeats were in there, and now it's just a question of whether someone at the airport with a TSA key will open it for her, or whether we'll have to rely on the hotel staff. Worst comes to worst, the suitcase can be cut open. And then the very expensive suitcase company can refund us. Harrumph!

Following a great suggestion by Shawn White, we’re featuring one of his workflows, showing one possible use of tarpipe (... keep reading)

Happy birthday, Pookie!!

It was the best of times and the blurst of times today, as we found ourselves making some tough decisions about Fabi and Zizou and then discovering how extremely difficult it was going to be to see them through (without going into too much detail, our day was spent with each cat locked in a separate bedroom while we waited for both to either eat sedative-laced tuna or trigger a hav-a-hart trap; you know your pet is not a keeper when you have to use wild-animal traps to crate them). Parts of the day were tear-inducingly stressful, parts were spent feeling like we were just marking time, and parts were spent wallowing in abject frustration, anger, guilt, resentment, and misery. And then Boomer and Schnookie both had to find somewhere else to sleep, as their bedrooms were being held hostage by the hunger-striking Peeing Bandits.

But! Parts of the day were wonderful. We went to our new favorite bakery, Nino's, for their enormous, scrumptious danishes and to get a chocolate truffle cake! And there was extensive present opening! And the presents were awesome, including the coolest new silverware sets and a gourmet snack-of-the-month club! And there was stitching! And there was laughing at the ridiculous fact that we had armadillo traps set up in our bedrooms for catching our pets in because our pets are too wild to crate like normal cats! See, you can't enjoy the high highs without the low lows, right?

Today was the best of car times and the blurst of car times. Or rather, the blurst part came first. My usually quite trusty car broke down at the work-end of my commute. Boo! I had to wait a little over 30 minutes for the tow truck and then had to ride in said tow truck for 40 minutes with a Rangers fan! Ew! The fun and exciting medicine ball workout Schnookie and I planned had to be cancelled, and everything was misery and woe.

But then the evening took a turn for the better when Schnookie (with help from Boomer) produced a weeknight dinner of cochinita pibil! DUDE! And then following a revisit of Top Gear's hilarious Africa special, we turned out attentions to upgrading our ride in Forza Motorsport 5. The red Toyota we started the game with wasn't getting the job done, and the Nissan Z wasn't Italian enough, so behold our beautiful Ferrari 458! In shiny gold! You know what would never break down 40 minutes from home on a rainy Wednesday night? A shiny gold Ferrari 458. And if it did, would you care? No! Because you'd get to sit in a parking lot admiring your shiny gold Ferrari.

Hey, remember how happy we were to get the October Martha Stewart? We chased that with some Chinese takeout, and were all hunkered down to have a great evening...

...Until the power went out. Immediately after we finished eating. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! We were much better prepared for this than some previous power outages, having gotten all lantered and headlamped up during Sandy, but still. It sucked to have to make conversation while we stitched all evening, rather than letting the TV fill the void.

The power did come back on a bit earlier than PSE&G's twitter feed said it would, but it was still right before bed. Stupid power outages!

Charlotte has been hard at work right outside the garage and blackberry grove -- this web is about five feet tall and just as wide. It stretches from the grilling overhang all the way to the dogwood tree... but is missing whatever text Charlotte was planning to put there. She could fit a novel in there.

Crappy phone pic of the two Vista Series Jagmaters. The black oneis made in 1995 and is "Crafted in Japan"- not meant for our shores, and the burst is made in 1995 and "Made in Japan"- for export. Both sporting Dimarzio picks, the black a Tone Zone and the burst a Air Zone, and they both are SMOKIN'!!!

Shawn White (visuals/graphics programmer for Blurst) looks devious. VERY devious.

In 2014, Australia’s Babaganouj garnered serious radio attention with their releases “Too Late For Love” and “Bluff” – leading them to tour nationally twice, play each leg of The Blurst of Times tour as well as support a slew of notable acts such as The Preatures, Smudge, Veruca Salt,...

Another rushed shot that I shouldn't post, except maybe it's the only shot taken of them and then I'd feel bad they had no shots posted. Anyway, their costumes were great.
