So this is Shelly, my pet starfish who insists on accompanying me on trips to the beach. Being spring I thought she might enjoy a trip to Majenta Beach this week. I nearly lost her. A wave washed up higher than expected & it became a choice between my beloved Oly camera or her. I thought I'd lost her, but the next wave washed her back to me. And let's not mention the piece of lost arm, except to say lucky they can regenerate.

Starfish are remarkable creatures, and I don't want to bore you (but I will anyway ;) ....

Starfish are also known as asteroids due to being in the class Asteroidea. How cool is that! About 1,900 species of starfish occur on the seabed in all the world's oceans, from warm, tropical zones to frigid, polar regions. They are found from the intertidal zone down to abyssal depths, at 6,000m below the surface. They are opportunistic feeders and are predators.

A small stream in the Rock Garden of the Royal Botanical Garden, Burlington, Ontario. The small size of the stream can be inferred by the ferns and leaves adjacent to it, but its calming rhythm is quite soothing. The water is coloured blue, for what reason I do not know.

This is my minimalist Jervis Bay seascape with a catamaran - lol.

Today I travelled to the south coast of New South Wales to visit the coastal township of Huskisson, on Jervis Bay.

The highlight was a walk along Shark Net Beach with its pristine white, silky soft, sand. Oh, and a coffee and 'Rocky Road' chocolate dessert at the 'Five Little Pigs' cafe!!

FlickrFriday this week is pyramid! This one is part of the architecture at Bluewater shopping centre in Kent. As it was a boring rainy day with grey nondescript sky, I decided to add some effects to cheer it all up.

Thanks for viewing 😀

This was my first attempt at shooting in raw & then fine tuning the image in Photoshop Elements 6. This is Lake St. Clair, so needless to say i played with the color a bit!!!!! Thanks to my friends at Exposure Detroit for the information on shooting raw & its benefits & also to my friend Ken from ED for being my online geeksquad that helped me get this back to jpeg & posted. it's opened up a whole new world of photography!

Laguna Beach is a seaside resort city located in southern Orange County, California, in the United States. It is known for a mild year-round climate, scenic coves, environmental preservation, and artist community. The population in the 2010 census was 22,723.

Historically a territory of Paleoindians, the Tongva people and then Mexico, the location became part of the United States following the Mexican–American War. Laguna Beach was settled in the 1870s, officially founded in 1887 and, in 1927 its current government was incorporated as a city. In 1944, the city adopted a council-managerform for its government. The city has remained relatively isolated from urban encroachment by its surrounding hills, limited highway access, and a dedicated greenbelt. The Laguna Beach coastline is protected by 5.88 miles (9.46 km) of state marine reserve and an additional 1.21 miles (1.95 km) of state conservation area.

Tourism is the primary industry with an estimated three million people visiting the community annually. Annual large events include the Pageant of the Masters, Festival of the Arts, Sawdust Art Festival, Art-A-Fair, Bluewater Music Festival, and Kelpfest.

Amtrak's Bluewater is running a little bit late as it emerges from a snow squall at the west end of CN's Snow Yard in Millet. The train would meet Q122 around the corner at CP Mill.

Some belated postings from Jan 26 (Australia Day). This is a national holiday and the weather was perfect so i set out on my bike to take some shots along the coast. This shot is of a yacht moored only metres from shore at Ocean Reef. Its a very quite spot as the beach cant be legally accessed by foot. I have a few more shots of this yacht It looked beautiful moored in this peaceful little bay. I think there were 2-4 people on board. You can see the blue water, the recreational craft in the distance and the people enjoying the water and lifestyle on the yacht. I love this series of shots as I believe it captures the lifestyle well on these beautiful sunny days.

This is BIG!

The world’s tallest observation wheel, at a height of 250m (820ft). Couldn’t capture the entire wheel while on the island… you need a very wide-angle lens to stand a chance. It makes the London Eye look like the small wheel on a Penny Farthing.
