Le Poppycock *Emotional Support* Wanderlust Special

I admit it ... I'm a sucker for following paths and trails in forests, just to see where they go. Even the smallest deer trail can sometimes to great views or lovely waterfalls. There is something about the next peak or curve that pushes me on, no matter how tired I am, to see what is over that rise or round that corner. Unfortunately, though, I sometimes forget to take into consideration how much time and energy it takes to get back :(

Another pic from early morning pre-dawn outing - view from the Old City Gate Bridge.

On my way back from India stopped off in the UK for meeting at Oxford U. Had time for an early am walk and a few snaps - the campus is always so beautiful - pictured here The Radcliffe Camera in the early morning blue light.

This is the church of Nesseby. Nesseby is a small town in the far northeast of Norway. We travled there last January (2020) coming from the finnish border and passing this small town with the church just besides the fjord. That day we had no time to drive to the church but we swear to stop there when leaving the area of Varanger.

When we left the area of Varanger we started early in the morning and when we arrived at Nesseby it was completely dark (it was the arctic night) So I used my Tripod to shoot this photo and tried several adjustments. The only light was this from the Church itself. It was cold, and snow started to fall like hell and we were in a hurry to leave because we wanted to go to the northcape this day and this are several hundreds of kilometer within new snow.

Was in Udaipur for meetings with the TNC India Team - that started early and ended late but managed a few mornings to sneak out before the sun came up for some photography.

Morning light on gently rocking gondolas - Venice

A waterfall of late afternoon daylight next to a homeless encampment. Downtown Chicago Illinois.

Treviso, Italy

While walking downtown Treviso at dusk I saw this old palace that host a restaurant and love the contrast between the blue light of the building and inside. The group of women meeting was the ice on the cake. I had to go up with the ISO for being able to take the image by hand hold the camera since I thought I could not have the time to to place my tripod.

The lionfish, a longstanding showstopper in home aquariums, is a flourishing invasive species in U.S. Southeast and Caribbean coastal waters. This invasive species has the potential to harm reef ecosystems because it is a top predator that competes for food and space with overfished native stocks such as snapper and grouper. Scientists fear that lionfish will also kill off helpful species such as algae-eating parrotfish, allowing seaweed to overtake the reefs. In the U.S., the lionfish population is continuing to grow and increase its range. This is largely because lionfish have no known predators and reproduce all year long; a mature female releases roughly two million eggs a year.

The spines of this species deliver a venomous sting that can last for days and cause extreme pain, sweating, respiratory distress, and even paralysis to predators, or in some cases, an unsuspecting human.

The beautiful winter sights lift the spirits and give inspiration. My husband said this reminded him of Narnia but gratefully we celebrated a wonderful Christmas. HSoS!

(Smile On Saturday Theme: A Light In The Dark)

In the afternoon, in the darkest weeks of winter before Christmas, winter's face is pale. Only blue light before dark. The sun also sets almost colorless. But there is a lot of snow, you are free to ski on slopes that no one has skied before you. When dusk comes, you turn on the lights in the headlamp and just look ahead while skiing and respond warmly to the cold gaze of winter.

Last year on a trip to Las Vegas someone told me about a building there in town that was designed by the same architect that designed the Disney Concert Hall in Downtown LA. I only had time to shoot it during the day which was unfortunate because after returning home I discovered that the building is lit with lighting that changed colors throughout the night. Saturday I hitched a ride with my daughter to Las Vegas, she purchased tickets to see Third eye blind & Dashboard confessional at the Hard Rock Cafe, I was worried about her driving up by herself so I asked if I could tag along for the ride and I would shoot around on the strip while she was in the show, plus as an added bonus I could reshoot this building at night. This is the blue version taken at about 1:00am.

Hope you like!!!! :)

Thank you for taking the time to take a look at my photos and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great week everyone :)
