In the morning on the Friday after Ascension Day 2022, I got up at 3 a.m. and, despite my doubts, drove to the Melchers Hütte at the Hamme river near the village Osterholz-Scharmbeck (Northern Germany).
What can I say - getting up early was more than worth it !

Freyung is a lovely triangular square in central Vienna. In the center, the Austria Fountain is dedicated not to Austria but to the emperor Ferdinand I. L’état, c’est moi, I guess.
Normanton Church is the most well known landmark in Rutland, UK. When the reservoir was being constructed, the valley had to be cleared and it was planned that the church be demolished.
However, after substantial protest from the local population, who wanted to preserve the beautiful structure, plans were made to save Normanton Church. The lowermost section of the church was filled with rubble and a new floor was built on top of it so that it would sit 60cm above the water level. The church now sits on its own little island with a causeway constructed in order to access it.

On a training trip on ski, I experienced a wonderful blue hour. Fortunately, I often take a camera with me - as long as the weather promises to be good and it's not completely dark yet when I start. December and January are known here in the north for their intense blue hours. This is because of the cold weather and the fact that the sun is very low at this time of year here.

Paulina (Paul LYE nah) Lake is one of the twin crater lakes in Newberry Crater, central Oregon, United States (the other being East Lake). It is located 6,331 feet (1,930 m) above sea level in the Newberry National Volcanic Monument near La Pine. The lake's primary inflow is seepage from East Lake, snow melt, and hot springs, and its outflow is Paulina Creek, a tributary of the Little Deschutes River. It has an area of 1,531 acres (619.6 ha), a volume of 249,850 acre feet (308,185 dam3), a maximum depth of 250 feet (76.2 m), a shore length of about 6.7 miles (11 km).
It was named after Chief Paulina who was a Northern Paiute war leader noted for his successful guerrilla tactics. The name is pronounced Paul - LYE- nah.
Golden light catches the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Pavilion in Bayfront Park in Hamilton, Ontario
Natural light mixes in with the many lights on and around Potsdam's central train station and the integrated shopping center, and the modern IBL investment bank building (completed in 2017) a few meters up from the Havel River just beyond Nuthe Park. A nice blue hour mood as the sun sets. Some unlit bank windows still catch and reflect daylight. [SNY00197_lr_2000]
